We stayed here for our final hotel during a 10 day Route 66 trip. For that purpose, it is a great option. Once we finished the route, we wanted to be on the beach with the ability to walk to the pier. The room was simple but clean. There was some ambiguity on if we could check-in early or not, which caused some confusion, but they were nice enough to give us their last parking spot earlier in the day before we checked-in, so we didn't have to worry about finding parking for our car after the long drive.

This felt like such a waste of money!!! If you want to sleep well, don’t go here. For almost $200, it was rubbish… light pouring through the windows (I had to tape trash bags to the window to reduce the amount of light, cause it was sooo bright at night. still didn’t work ), paper thin walls, loud in the middle of the night with parties, awful shower experience (showers from what seem like the 1960s very low water pressure and would go from cold to scalding, without rhyme or reason). I was hoping to find a relaxing and comfy place to sleep and this was not it… If you’re a sensitive sleeper, find somewhere else.
Pros: the location and the woman at the front desk were great.

This is my second time staying here and I love it! The rooms are very old school California which is pretty awesome! It’s great when we have family in town there is 2 separate bedrooms and a roll away bed. And the views are breathtaking!! And it’s central to everything! We will be back again! Love the sea blue!

Hotel was SPOTLESS. Right in front of muscle beach and beside the pier. Restaurants close to it that were TO DIE FOR: Casa Martin, Sol Agave. Staff friendly. Will DEFINATELY be staying there again!!

Our flight was canceled due to the global IT outage and I contacted Sea blue for a refund (since we don’t live in CA how was I going to check in.) The receptionist said NO refunds then I reached out to the general manager. And no response!!
I’ll make sure not to use this hotel in the future or recommend this place when in Santa Monica.

Me, wife and 2 children traveled to the USA on a 3-city itinerary, starting with Los Angeles. My children wanted to make their dream of surfing in California come true, so we planned for the end of May/2024 to catch the beginning of summer and escape the American holidays that started June 6th. Sea Blue seemed ideal, one block from the beach and very close to the Santa Monica pier, so despite having rented a car we could do these activities on foot. Despite knowing that the hotel was simple and did not offer breakfast, we relied on establishments nearby. First disappointment at check-in: we couldn't use the hotel's parking lot, which despite having spaces available at the time, was only used to unload our bags. Then the attendant came with a map drawn on bread paper instructing us to park in a public parking lot paid by the hour. Imagine every night after the events leaving the car and walking 500 meters to the hotel...ugh. The next morning we saw that Santa Mônica beach was not ideal for surfing and in fact not even for swimming. We looked for a place to have breakfast and realized that Americans are lazy, they only open at 10am or 11am depending on the establishment. I asked the reception about renting boards and was informed that on Sundays a guy came in a kombi from 9am. In other words, if you want to go to Sea Blue because of the location, it's not worth it. There is no comfort and there are those drawbacks that I mentioned. We took the car and went to Venice Beach and managed to rent a board and wetsuit because the water was freezing. The other 20 surfers who were in the water were also using it. The rest of the schedule was cool, Universal Hollywood, Six Flags, Observatory, etc.
Noteworthy details: There is no parking for all guests and no breakfast.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Sea Blue Hotel in Santa Monica, California and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The hotel itself is beautifully situated (near the beach), offering stunning views of the ocean and easy access to the vibrant local area. The rooms were immaculate, tastefully decorated, and equipped with all the amenities one could need for a comfortable stay.
What truly set this experience apart, however, was the outstanding service. Every staff member I encountered was courteous, professional, and eager to assist in any way possible. I want to extend a special thank you to James, who went above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. His warm hospitality, attention to detail, and willingness to help made a significant difference and left a lasting impression.
The Sea Blue Hotel is a true gem in Santa Monica. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful stay in this beautiful area. Thank you again, James, and the entire team, for making my visit so memorable. I can't wait to return!

Very good location just steps from the Santa Monica warf. Old-fashioned and non-air-conditioned rooms. Friendly but basic welcome.

Your basically paying to be on the pier. The rooms where a little dirty. It would be perfect if the price fit the value. The hotel is small and older built so it wont be luxury. I loved the service and how easy it was too reserve parking. I was so worried about the parking but he reserve my spot. I think a cheaper hotel stay would be more sufficient. I loved being able to walk downstairs and be on the pier. It wasn't bad but, Santa Monica itself is becoming pretty ghetto. If you need the cheapest on the beach I would chose Sea Blue hotel over the other cheap ones. I would stay again. I didn't bring up the dirty shower curtain because it was for one day. The staff where so welcoming and sweet. I would book again if I come back too Santa Monica. There was a stabbing after eating at the pier so I think Malibu will be the beach I go to next time, I am in LA. Its a cute set up and quick access to the beach is what I wanted.

I stayed a couple of nights at the Sea Blue Hotel in June 2024, and it was lovely! The service was absolutely wonderful--I had driven there from Arizona, and had an issue with my car that the hotel staff helped me with and was SUCH a relief! They were so kind and it meant the world to me.
The location was ideal because I was traveling alone and had wanted to take photos of the pier in the evening, and had always been concerned about being out there alone. It is such a short walk from the hotel to the beach that I was finally able to get out there without walking far alone.
Clean room and a lovely view--could see more of the ocean than I had expected! Great Mexican food two doors down.

It is a very comfortable small motel, with very kind and helpful staff 24 hours a day. Directly on the beach, it feels like being catapulted into a 60s film, all that's missing is the music of the Beach Boys. I love it
Rooms: The spacious room, comfortable beds, small bathroom but with a very useful spacious dressing room with minibar. The room is a little dated, but it is its 60s style with surf on the walls that wins you over.
Nearby activities: Sea, beach, pier with amusement park and shops.
Bike rental.
Safety: Safe area with many tourists
Walkability: You are directly on Santa Monica Beach and the Pier.
Food and drinks: Places near Starbuk, excellent Italian restaurant at Bruno's and a local Californian restaurant on the beach with excellent tacos ?
