A little away from the hustle and bustle, but still within walking distance of the Santa Monica Pier etc., the Oceana is a quiet pearl with large, well-designed rooms and incredibly friendly and courteous staff. You can relax by the pool and you can also end the evening outside in the adjacent restaurant. Bike rental is free and definitely recommended, as Santa Monica has bike paths everywhere, in the city and on the beach.

Location is perfect! Over a mile away from the pier. So no homeless or weirdness just locals and hotel guests walking distance to so much
Shopping, coffee, food
Bellmen/valet top notch! Think Lenny was the main guy 10 out of 10
Safety: Safe! Far away from pier
Walkability: Absolutely

Awesome luxury boutique hotel in Santa Monica. One of the most charming boutique hotels I’ve ever stayed in!
Our experience was wonderful from the moment we pulled up to the valet. We were greeted by Jordan, who was super friendly and offered to help with all our luggage.
Check in was a breeze! We were promptly welcomed by Taylor, and because i had inputed my details in the app, it took less than 2 minutes! We were upgraded to a suite, room 210, with a nice living room/seating area that was separated from the bedroom.
Communicating with the front desk was so easy by text! We were able to get late checkout through text.
The room was great! Bed was wonderfully comfortable, shower pressure was strong and towels were beautifully soft.
We enjoyed the gym as well, in the basement behind the pool. There was a peloton bike and tread and although it was a smaller space, they had a nice mix of weights and machines. The pool chairs looked so comfortable! But the morning was too cool for a dip!
Breakfast at sandpiper was delicious. We had fresh juices and an omelet and the American breakfast. We enjoyed it!
Checkout was also breezy. We didn’t even need to stop, just dropped off the keys and our car was ready!
Loved the location of this hotel. Right across the street from overlooking Santa Monica beach and the pedestrian bridge crossing is right there. Location can’t be beat. We’ll definitely be back for a longer stay.
Walkability: Right across from the pedestrian walkway down to Santa Monica beach.

Edit:
I've lowered my rating from 2 stars to 1 star because the hotel doubled my room rate without telling me, and even though they've acknowled that changing it was wrong, their systems won't allow them to change it back. This is blatantly absurd - it should be obvious that it's illegal to charge someone a higher rate than they agreed to, and overcharge is more than $5000. Luckily I paid with my credit card, so I'm able to dispute the charge. I've added pictures of my original booking and the rate they actually charged.
Original review:
There's lots of things to like about this hotel. In particular, the staff are incredible - so friendly and welcoming. The common areas are beautiful, and the food is excellent. The design of the rooms is a little odd, with almost all of the natural light coming from the shared entrance balcony, but the furniture is stunning and the rooms are huge.
However, I wouldn't recommend staying here. I had multiple issues with the basic habitability of my rooms, which is just not acceptable in a 5 star luxury hotel. I'll happily forgive one problem at any hotel if it's handled well - and the oceana staff were very good about moving me to a new room in the middle of the night - but multiple issues across multiple rooms in the same stay makes me think that the hotel has some chronic maintenance problems.
See the attached photos for the cockroach I found in my bed in the first room, and the sewage flooding my bathroom from the sink drain in the second room.

There is no service for diamonds. But the food is also delicious. Other people say the service is bad for the price. This time, for the 20th wedding anniversary, I stayed at Hilton almost all of the time around the world, but it is true that all the other Hilton systems had welcome drinks, welcome fruits, champagne, wine, etc., but this is definitely Nothing comes out of the crab (laughs) I don't even have a message card (laughs)
Well, I didn't expect it at all, but my wife seems to be dissatisfied with that area. The manager may be staying high around there.
So, I deducted one star.
There were a lot of times, but I'm sure nothing will come out here (lol) There's not even a message card (lol)
Well, I didn't have high expectations at all, but my wife seemed dissatisfied with that. Maybe the manager is being too arrogant about that.
So I reduced one star.
Rooms: It's very nicely arranged. Perfect in every detail ?
Food and drinks: Delicious?

My wife and I stayed at Oceana. The staff at check in were great and very friendly. The room was huge with lots of seating and we really liked it. Only issue we had with the room was the shower head was ridiculously low and the picture you see was the maximum height the shower head could be raised and I’m 5’9”. The two of us had breakfast in the restaurant at the hotel and it was very good but French toast and an omelette was almost $80 and seemed a little steep. Everything else at this hotel was great. There are great restaurants a short uber drive away or you could walk if you preferred to.

Incredible service and overall quality of rooms and public spaces. Best way to use our AMEx free night reward certificate. We booked the standard room reward and was upgraded on the day of check in to the King Lanai Suite in a mobility and hearing accessible room, 221 (it was one of two rooms available for the upgrade, the other was on the 1st floor and at the back of the property which was not my preference). At check in the front desk associate indicated this is one of his favorite rooms.
The only difference I could suspect in this room was no sofa sleeper and a doorbell and hand bars in the shower/tub and near the toilet. Also the bathroom was oversized to likely accommodate a wheelchair. All other features and design appeared the same.
The room was beautifully furnished. Clean, spacious and comfortable. Loved the library of books. The tablet was nice but would not connect to control the lights.
The food at Sandpiper was excellent. We were contacted about reservations days before checkin so we arrived on time and was immediately seated on the patio. Everything was fresh and the service was great.
The 8 AM yoga class on Saturday morning, was a great way to start our day. Ended up just being the two of us in that class which was super nice. The instructor was friendly and very knowledgeable. The lounge was beautiful and comfortable. Staff hand delivered towels before the start of class.
We borrowed a couple of beach cruisers and were offered a lock and waters.
The price of one night is quite a shock as I’ve stayed in a Hilton overwater bungalow on an island for less, however depending on when you stay is key. It was a holiday weekend. The service and overall experience is quite special at Oceana. If given the opportunity to stay again, I would in a heartbeat.

The property is quaint, clean, inviting, but most importantly the staff went out of their way to make our trip very special. Extremely helpful, friendly, accommodating. Front desk, bartenders, restaurant staff, pool service, security. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Rooms: Beautiful accommodations, comfortable, mattresses, quality towels, robes, etc.
Nearby activities: Santa Monica pier, Venice beach, skateboard park all a bike ride away….
Safety: We felt safe as they have security on hand and in a nice part of town.
Walkability: Bike rental is complementary. Helmets bike locks included. Staff was very helpful in how to navigate surrounding area and get down to the beach bike riding is safe and fun.
Food and drinks: Extremely friendly bartender staff.
Noteworthy details: Craft cocktails, superb appetizers, and small plates.

A wonderful hotel and staff. Laurent, Diego, Dan, and Lenny were such wonderful and professional people. They all went out of their way to make my wife’s birthday super memorable and special. From the check in experience to the pool and restaurant service everyone had a wonderful smile and great attitude. Cam, Lucian, Billy, and the rest of the pool and restaurant team were awesome. We definitely will be returning. They were very accommodating of our 10 month old daughter and made everything as seamless and easy as possible.

Great resort that has gorgeous view and good service. The heated pool is so nice. 10min walk down a bridge to the beach.
But I had to take one star off from "room" because:
1. AC takes more than 3 minutes to turn off. (I thought it's broken lol) And pad for remote control will lose connection sometimes.
2. I could hear people talking in the room next to me when I was about to sleep. Believe me they were not speaking loud.
Safety: Pretty safe nearby. Lots of people, both tourists and locals walking around.
