Disappointed. Not up to Fairmont standard for the luxury level price charged.1. Location-not on beach as advertised. Long convoluted walk to get to the beach through garbage and homeless people. Front desk directed us to stairwell/ highway overpass to get to the beach that was not the closest to hotel. Closest was 200-300 yards away.2. Noisy open air nightclub attached preventing good night’s sleep.3. TV did not work. Kept disconnecting from service provider.4. Luggage not delivered to room in a timely manner. Had to go down and enquire to get it delivered.5. Wifi was blocked until call to front desk & they said it was a mistake & we were then connected.Overall, did not meet expectations of a luxury hotel and misrepresented location as ‘on the beach’.Rooms: The room was slightly larger than standard & had one bathrobe. The bathroom was very small but functional.TV kept disconnecting from server. Wifi did not work until call to front desk & they said it was a mistake and then connected.Reserved an ocean view room. Was partial ocean, partial parking lot. Noise from nightclub could be heard in room.Nearby activities: Across the street, down a stairwell across a busy highway via an overpass bridge, down a further stairwell, through a parking lot is the Santa Monica beach. The Santa Monica Pier is about a 15 minute walk from there. LA is a 20 minute drive.Safety: We went for a short walk when we arrived at 10 PM. Realized how far we were from any beach access. On walk encountered individual screaming and homeless people. We did not feel safe and returned to the hotel. People were lined up outside hotel for open air nightclub access. The noise interfered with our ability to get a good night’s sleep.Walkability: The stairways to get to the beach were filled with garbage and a homeless person was sleeping in the stairwell. Santa Monica beach had garbage & homeless people camping on the beach.Noteworthy details: The description of this hotel is ‘located on the beach’ and it shows a picture of the pool with ocean behind it.This hotel is across a road and a busy highway,up & down stairways which are 200-300 yards from hotel entry. It is not on the beach. Ocean view room was part ocean, part parking lot.Luggage was not delivered to the room until we enquired at front door. There was a noisy nightclub attached outside. TV/Wifi issues.Disappointing given luxury price & not up to Fairmont standard.

This review is to acknowledge the excellence of Emil, our server, who enhanced my visit with my dear friend I hadn’t seen in a year. His attention and advice for wines and food took our time to the next level. He was always there to refill our glass with a smile and ask if there was anything more required. Also, replacing our delicious cucumbers and potato chips.Bravo! He is an incredible brand ambassador that makes me not only want to return but recommend the Fairmont lobby to everyone.Plus, we are tough critics who have lived in LA for 36 years and been in the film and tv industry for decades, it takes a lot to impress. We were just thinking of have a drink or two but when he brought the wine list there was a joy to him that made us feel more celebratory so we ordered a good bottle of champagne. We thought we would have a drink and move to a local restaurant but we just kept wanting to staying and ordered food since we were so well taken care of we couldn’t think of a place that would be better, so what could have been a small tab turned into a much larger one because we felt so well taken care of and having the best time not wanting to leave and even ordering more champagne after we finished the bottle. That is exceptional.Emil enhanced our reunion and he is the gold standard.

The hotel was clearly understaffed today (10 March 2024), with a closed restaurant, poor service in the spa and pool, and a shortage in valet parking personnel. Not our best experience at a resort we visit often.Noteworthy details: Locker room for spa and pool was a disaster. Staff had poor attitude.

Rating between 3 & 4 stars. Loved the location and view on the ocean (although the hotel is not on the beach, there is a hill to walk down after crossing the road). We had breakfast at Fig and it was good but very expansive ($150 for 2).Did not like the wait at the vallet to get back the car (30 mins even if the car was a few steps away), there is a club/bar on the property that is very loud until 2am. It depends which side of the tower you are but you may be strongly impacted on weekends. There was only one elevator working so it takes a while to go up and down the floors. Our room was fine but not modern.Overall we had a good time but the value is not there and this is not elevated luxury.

Don't miss this hotel, is beautiful, and rooms are great. And it is located in front of the beach in Santa Monica.

This is a beautiful old hotel at the far end of Santa Monica. It’s comfortable and plush without being overly posh… the food is amazing! Coffee shop could do better but as a location. - it’s perfect! The fig tree should be a national treasure - I’d stay again! Great restaurants too!!

Had a great stay here with the family just after Christmas. Everyone enjoyed being so close to the beach / boardwalk and so many great restaurants nearby and right on the water. The rooms are quiet and relaxing, with well-maintained and elegant decor. The refillable water bottle system was impressive and innovative… love that!We had a minor billing problem, but Andrew in the front office went above and beyond researching and fixing it proactively based only on a review comment. That level of service is rare, even in very high end establishments. Thanks!

A dilemma wrapped in an enigma.Very good service, professional excellent staff in a building that is both dated and varies between rough and fringiness. Most everything on the first floor is good, but once you get to your room, it is hard not to be disappointed. Dated decor, broken shades, small bathroom, clogged drains. (And we stayed in a suite!)

We had a terrible stay at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel. We were unable to get a good night's sleep at the Fairmont Miramar hotel in November 2023. When we arrived, the hotel clerk offered us a "upgrade" to a tower room with a view. It turns out that the hotel leases out the outside area below the tower rooms to a night club what plays loud music until 2 AM. When we called the front desk at 1:30 AM they did offer to move us but it was 1:30 in the morning! We spoke with the Assistant Manger the next morning who confirmed that the hotel is aware of the night club noise problem because it has been an ongoing problem for many years. He informed us he'd look into training their desk clerks better so they don't move people to the tower rooms. The Assistant Manager did offer us breakfast but we told him at that time that we weren't interested in a discounted breakfast after spending a night without sleep. We asked for a refund for our room. He told us the Director would call but we never got a call. We called the hotel to follow up in December and spoke with another Assistant Manager who assured us that the Director would call us. Again, we did not get a call. We travel often and this is the first time we have written a bad review. We do not recommend this hotel.William and Tracy Freeman

Fairmont Miramar Hotel is one of the best places to stay in Santa Monica! Close to the Pier, Promenade, Elephante Restaurant, and the Bungalow bar!
