Customer service is terrible no one acknowledges you or offers help, also they had a light in the store that kept flickering on and off that could be very bothersome for photosensitive shoppers. Twice that flickering light was still on. Overall I recommend Lemos or petsmart for your pet needs.

I will never shop at Petco again. I enrolled in vital care program through the grooming salon so that I can get discounts when my dog gets groomed. As soon as I enroll in vital care, the grooming salon completely shuts down. I have no other reason to have vital care other than for the grooming and that service is not available to me. Petco will not allow me to cancel my vital care membership. I'm not even able to erase my card information from the account where the money is taken out of. Petco states that I agreed to a 1 year service for Vital care, but the program also guarantees perks for grooming, BUT THE SALON IS NOT EVEN OPEN OR AVAILABLE FOR THESE PERKS. Absolutely ridiculous.

I went in to buy a few things a while back, and there was a bag of dog food that was half off because of a rip in the bag. It was an expensive brand, and I figured this would be a good chance to try it and see if my dog actually liked it without being out the entire cost if he didn't. Well, they messed up at the register and didn't take the half off - there was a lot of confusion, the girl who was at the register seemed clueless as to what to do and had to have someone come over to help, who also didn't seem to know what to do. Instead of just giving me a proper refund, they said they'd put the extra onto a gift card. I wasn't happy with this, but they said there was nothing else they could do since I used a credit card. I just tried to use that gift card today, and guess what? There's nothing on it! I hadn't even scratched off the pin information yet, so I know it wasn't used, and I hadn't been in the store since then. I no longer have the receipts for the food since it was a while ago, so I know that if I went in and tried to talk to them I'd get a shrug and 'sucks to be you!' So that's around $40 that I'm out because they are clueless and apparently activated a gift card without actually putting anything on it when they were supposed to be returning it to me. I'm disgusted by their inability to do basic transactions and if I could do a clawback on my credit card, I would. This has to be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever experienced. Basic intelligence would tell you that if you overcharge someone, you refund them on the method they used to pay or in cash, right? Well, apparently not! Apparently their method is to tell you it'll be on a gift card, and not actually put anything on it and hand you an empty card! Don't shop here. Their quality - in products, service and personnel - has gone to the dogs, and not in a good way.

The customer service team wwe're all very helpful in assisting with finding items needed for my new born bulldog. while shopping Carolina a store employee noticed all of the items in the cart and told me about a coupon book the store offers to customers. Every item was at a discounted price because of the coupon I saved a good amount of money thanks to her and am very thankful for the great customer service.

This Petco has gone downhill. It's always messy, so much is always out of stock. What a shame. Seems like they can never get good management to run the store. I really dislike the store manager named Amanda. I don't understand how they can hire such a rude person for this position. that the last time I went to this location, the aisles were blocked by pallets, and merchandise wasn't stocked yet. What was crazy to me is that's how they left it midday, and I didn't see any employees working on it the whole time I was in the store. Silly me thinking I could get my cart around one of the pallets, which I couldn't, so my cart got stuck between the pallet and a shelf from the end of an aisle. Since there are so few employees on the salesfloor, nobody was around to help me get the cart unstuck. Took me a while, but I finally got it. The way the pallets were placed makes it look like you might have room, but no room was left for shopping carts to move up and down the main aisles. How can this be ADA compliant for those in wheelchairs if a shopping cart can't even pass them? What's more disappointing is that I learned that a tenured grooming employee was fired. I can't believe this company would let go of such a great and highly rated groomer. JENNIFER PATTERSON YOUR AMAZING. That manager lost a great groomer and pet lover. What upsets me is that Amanda, the store manager, is telling all Jennifer's regular customers that she quit, which is false. One of my good friends always gets their dog groomed with her. I was so disappointed to hear this. I know Jennifer and asked her, and she's heartbroken to hear this is what is being said cause she didn't quit. She loves Grooming its her career. She's such a pet lover. I hope the company looks into this. Telling lies shows poor character and as a store manager should be investigated by the company. Huge loss for the company. I'm sure many regulars will go elsewhere, and if she finds a grooming position somewhere else, they will be loyal and follow. Smh.

To whom this must concern, I wanted to let everyone know who is looking for a job, not to apply at Petco in Santa Maria. They have a high turnover rate. The current general manager who works there isn't as nice and sincere as they seems to be. The manager will be your friend and then go behind your back and terminate you. Many people have lost their jobs due to her. She does not think things clearly and doesn't care much about her employees, let alone talk to them unless she is wanting/expecting a favor from you.

Visited this petco for the first time in several months and yep, this is still the worst Petco in the history of petco. The shelves are always 75% empty so hopefully you don't need a specific food or supplement, isles always crammed full of unpacked boxes, basically a disaster at all times. There's usually only one or two visible employees frantically doing their best to help customers. Employees are polite, this is not their fault. Hey management! Get them some help and maybe your shelves will be stocked once in a while.

Absolutely the worst service and unstaffed. On a Sunday there should be four people working in there to get birds out of the cage and offer guarantees to them. Only went in for one thing. No one wanted to help me find it, so I just stood in line and then got bumped out of line after I finally was able to see if this item was in stock. Bad bad happy Sunday to everyone.

Self service wash bays are never open. It was the only thing that set you apart from pet-smart. It's so annoying they never work that I will never shop there again. Terrible move to get me to go there at first then take it away.

My pup was originally scheduled for 2pm & the time got moved two other times. This was not the issue but something to note for future clients. After waiting about 15 minutes at the desk for a groomer/worker to pick up my dog for his appt, the most unenthusiastic, bad attitude groomer, asked me questions I had already filled out online. (If there were fleas, aggressions etc.) I felt super unwelcome and like the worker did not want our service. After about 3 hours I received a call to pick up my dog. I went straight over and ended up waiting AGAIN 20 minutes at the grooming desk, while I can see other employees view me waiting and on with their business. Multiple groomers would glance over at my presence and not bother to assist me. Finally after still waiting I asked an employee at the register if I can be assisted. About 5 minutes later a lady came to help me and apologized for the delay. My dog was brought out and he was groomed great but did not have his back nails clipped. (This was supposed to be included) Nonetheless, I paid & tipped.When I get home, I see half of my dog's nail hanging off his toe. He was in pain and I had to clip it off. Overall, I received bad customer service and an okay haircut for $75. I will not return nor recommend.

Don't come here. I stopped in to wash my two dogs at the self wash station. I walked up to the grooming desk (where it says "Self Wash" in big letters) and started to ask how the self wash service worked. The employee sitting behind the desk didn't even let me finish my sentence when she took a quick look up from her personal phone so tell me I needed to pay at checkout. Checkout had a line of about 5 people and the grooming desk was completely empty. I took my two dogs up to the checkout line, paid, and asked them why couldn't pay at the grooming counter. They told me that sometimes they're really busy over there and so they send people over to check out. I pointed out that there was no one standing there (visible from the checkout line) and that the girl was just sitting on her phone. They apologized but they clearly didn't care. The self wash station itself was FILTHY. It clearly hadn't been washed for days. I used to work in a grooming shop and I know hair can build up quick but this was something else entirely. They have no towels, no brushes, no combs, or anything. I paid $40 to use a hose basically. My dogs probably walked out dirtier than they came in. I've heard rumors that theyve been planning on shutting down the self wash at this location. I think they should. Another person posted pictures with her review and it's pretty much exactly the way it looked today.

The one stars is for the one employee that seem to be a little helpful, but for the most part it was dirty I have worked in a grooming shop, also understand what it's like to groom, and be the animal, and have their be a mess, but all they need to do is clean up Also, that is part of the reason why I choose not to let anybody else wash my dog. I walked into self dog wash area, and it was disgusting the buttons did not work on the soap, dispensing or the conditioner only for the water there was hair everywhere in each drain and no one came in and cleaned in between dogs

I can't believe who hire this employees, very low customer service, empathy, care for the customer in general, they make you feel like you are bugging them and the energy is really bad. I took my kids and we left to petsmart instead. Lazy Lazy personal.

If I could the rating would be lower! I am very upset on the grooming my Cavachon received at Petco by Tess. I really would not even call it grooming she was just shaved! I brush my dog every day so I knew the condition of her coat and she only had two small mats in her hair. One under her neck and one on her leg that I just did not have a chance to brush out prior to the appointment. I told Tess we only wanted her cut 1/2 inch and not to touch her tail or ears. She had beautiful Spaniel ears and a beautiful, feathered Bichon Frise tail that we really loved. When we came to pick her up one of the groomers came to ring me up and asked me if I wanted to add a tip. I said shouldn't I see my dog before I give a tip and she said they are getting her but she needed to check me out. I gave her a $15 dollar tip, bill totaled $95.00 with the tip. They brought her out and she was shaved to her skin, the cut the hair on her ears short and shaved her tail into a puddle cut. I was in shock! I said what did you do! Why is she shaved and Tess just said there were mats. I then said You cut her Tail...and again she just said there were mats. I was speachless and about to cry so we left. I am sure she had never groomed a Cavachon or a Bichon Frise before as their hair is tight and curly, not matted. She just took the easy way out and shaved her instead of grooming her. I do not normally write these reviews but did not want another dog parent to go through the shock and disappointment I have gone though. Don't have your dog groomed at Petco unless you want a shaved hair cut!!

Understaffed, nothing on the shelves. Poor customer service (if any) and terrible management they can't hold onto. Corporate that doesn't invest in employees and allows them to hang themselves with the ropes they give simply because they didn't want to tell them they were doing something wrong.
