We’ve been misdiagnosed twice, both times seemed to clearly be for financial gain. One was a “cracked tooth” which required an expensive cleaning and cap, and the other for a “torn ligament”. Both times we saw specialists for second opinions. Cracked tooth was plaque, we even did a deep cleaning and X-rays to confirm. Torn ligament was a minor sprain, which we had paid for X-rays through west side and the specialist was at a loss for what could have led to this conclusion. I highly encourage second opinions if you’re considering any procedures here. Both were with Dr. Shuman.
Update to Dr Shumans response: both diagnoses were given as clear directives. I was prescribed dental medication to “prevent the crack from infecting” before a cleaning could be done. For the tear, a strict “no walk/exercise regimen for 30 days” followed by a second required set of X-rays. Never once was a second opinion suggested, we just didn’t trust the situation since there were mounting associated costs. Trust your gut and get a second opinion if you decide to go here.

I cannot say enough about how outstanding, personable, caring, communicative, knowledgeable the entire staff is. We are working with them on the Direct Release process of moving our cats from the mainland to Maui. There are numerous steps involved in this process including precise timing issues, examinations and vaccinations as well. Everyone has been by our side in getting through the process as smoothly as possible. Becky, in particular has gone above and beyond to guide us through the process. Everyone is Amazing and I highly recommend them. Thank you all very much. Everyone at Westside Animal Hospital are SuperStars.❤️

Terrible, Traumatic, no Compassion.
The receptionist’s were great, the vet needs a head check.
Took my 14 year old cat in for a lump on her leg. They ran a series of tests to see what the fluid was inside the lump. Also added an HIV shot and rabies shot to the bill without my consent.
Came back for the results and their response is that the only option is to amputate my cats leg. 14 year old cat and their best advice is to amputate her leg.
Not relevant to the care of their pets, but they have “Kidnapped from Israel” posters on their front desk. Since when is animal care political??

I have been taking my animals, cats and a dog, here for almost 8 years. Everyone is thoughtful and caring and the vets always take time to answers as many questions as I have and share their own thoughts without ever seeming rushed. They are mindful of the cost of everything and never pressure. I never worry that my pets aren't getting the best care.

I won’t bore you with details but suffice it to summarize:After 9 years of care..I received the rudest treatment from the front desk staff person. There is just no reason to treat Clients, people, anyone, that way.Disrespect and disregard for my dog’s care = you lost our business.So yeah: beware and be warned folks.Their response to this critique above only makes my point more clearly.A terrible experience dealing with that person on the phone.There are literal lies about what happened in their reactive response and zero accountability for some of the worst customer “service” I’ve ever encountered. Maybe look at the critique and try to address the issues raised, improve perhaps…hire a new office person to replace the one I spoke with at the very least, her behavior was truly awful.Thank goodness there are other options for my Ginger.Good riddance.

as a follow up...to my oroginal review and your reaction. No one was "berated" if anything the person who spoke at me and yelled over me, attempted to belittle and berate. Customer service was absolutely absent from our interaction. in fact, it was the most obnoxious and rude treatment I have received, in years, anywhere from anyone. The fact that you again come at me, your client...just as was done by your staff member, with this reactive response just proves the point. Sub par service. Clearly, expecting to speak to the Dr was a huge and inappropriate request. He never did call. It's sad that you run your business this way and clearly have zero ability to take criticism which you fully deserve. Good riddance, as they say.

The folks at WSAH are truly amazing! They’re helpful, friendly, accommodating, and knowledgable, and best of all they really have the animals’ best interests at heart. Their passion and compassion for my pets was always very apparent and, of all the places I’ve taken my cats between moves, I’ve never felt so comfortable that a vet knew what they were doing, and that they were under good hands — even when pandemic guidelines had me staying in the parking lot!As the anxious and loving catdad to [several] furbabies, this place earned my complete trust and approval!

WAH has an incredibly efficient, streamlined process that I sincerely appreciate. I brought in my (very stressed) cat for his initial exam, and they were on time, so caring, and thorough. The second round of vaccines, I didn't even leave my car! They took my pet carrier, and were back out in 15 minutes and I was on my way. The prices are incredibly reasonable, and the staff is wonderful. I can't recommend highly enough.

I’ve had a lovely experience here. All my concerns have been addressed and I’ve never been made to feel bad about opting out of any anything due to personal preference or finances. My cat has felv and Dr.Logothetti and Dr.shuman have worked with her and I’m really happy with the care. The Techs are also super sweet. They have always reassured me about any results I’ve received. I will miss the staff when I leave.

I took my dog to get stem cell therapy from Dr. Shuman. Unfortunately, he really messed her up. I regret with all my heart taking her to this place.To be clear, my dog was worse after seeing Dr. Shuman than before she had her stem cell therapy.
