My husband and I stayed here while travelling through Santa Cruz by motorcycle. This location was charming, clean, comfortable, and had fantastic service (the staff were amazing/helpful). It's approximately one city block from the beach - ideal! The hotel provided beach towels & bicycles for us. Every day, we enjoyed a delicious and nutritious breakfast. On days when we returned to the hotel by 4 pm, there was a fantastic happy hour with snacks and beverages! Parking was never a problem; we always had a spot in the lot (we were on a motorcycle). We loved our time here and look forward to staying again!

This was our first visit to Santa Cruz and we really liked the West Cliff Inn even though we were there just one night - and with late check-in at that. The building and our room were so nice and the breakfast the next morning was excellent. If you are looking for a quiet, upscale B&B-like experience, don't miss this place.

Absolutely a pleasure staying here. Its location is about 5 minutes from the epicenter of fun on the beach, by foot. This historic house was built by a developer for himself who also designed and built the wharf on the bay. This is the house where he overlooked his progress at night with a cigar and a whisky, I imagine. The property is kept in immaculate shape. It’s preserved all of the old world architecture but with modern amenities, for example in our #5 suite, an outdoor private hot tub. The room was brilliantly kept, and the hallways stairs open up to a beautiful stained glass skylight.Special shoutout to Mary, whose hospitality was second to none. She is the master chef that puts breakfast together in the morning. She is amazing at her job, and she is a fountain of conversation.I will be back, my wife and I loved Santa Cruz (first visit) and will absolutely set reservations for this place again.

Cool, historical building. Caring staff. Perfect location with a great view. There is no AC. I don’t understand how people stay here in the summer months. If it’s hot outside - mid 80s or higher - the place is uncomfortable to even walk through and sleeping is an utter misery.Otherwise, highly recommend.

During my recent stay at the hotel, I was excited about the promised amenities. My hopes were dashed, however, when a perplexing incident occurred. A staff member had kindly provided us with beach towels and toys for my daughter earlier that day. Later on, when we went to retrieve them, Charlotte flatly refused to hand them over, citing the reason that she doubted we'd return them.Frustrated, I explained that I was more than willing to provide my ID and even put down a $100 deposit to cover any potential losses. Despite my efforts, Charlotte remained resolute. This unexpected encounter left a sour taste in my mouth, overshadowing any positive aspects of the hotel.Disheartened by the lack of trust and the uncooperative attitude, I have to say that I would strongly discourage anyone from considering this B&B for their stay. The experience not only soured our visit but also highlighted a fundamental issue in their customer service approach that needs to be addressed.

We were notified of early check in, which was great, but we were traveling and not able to get there early to take advantage of it. We were put on the third floor with no help to get our luggage up the stairs. The room had a tiny window and no A/C. Only two tower fans that make squeaking noises if you put them on rotate. We spent an hour before bed trying to move furniture in order to get the fan in front of the very small ONE AND ONLY window...It was 60 degrees outside but 80 degrees in our room. The bathtub was a nice treat except that more than half of the jets did not work. We were not able to take advantage of wine and cheese hour because we were out exploring, same with breakfast, it seems like it starts a little late (830AM) for people who are in Santa Cruz to go explore the beaches. We asked for a late check out and were told that it was not possible.Cookies were delicious and a nice touch. The bed was comfortable and sleeping would have been much better with a cooler room. The one employee we talked to at the front desk was very nice.We will not stay again because for the price we were expecting nicer accommodations or at least to be able to sleep well. The stuffiness and heat of the room along with dragging our suitcases up to a third floor, and a broken tub, was not worth the price for us.Walkability: Easy to walk to pier, boardwalk, and beach.Noteworthy details: NO A/C, one small window, no help to get luggage to 3rd floor, room was HOT and stuffy, bathtub jets did not work.

On a ten day trip up the Pacific coast, this was definitely one of our favorite stops! The ocean view was better than I imagined, and the room was clean, cozy, and quiet. The breakfast was fantastic, and so was the staff! One minor thing to note: the balcony room doesn't have a private balcony, it's a public one, so we did occasionally have people sitting RIGHT outside our open window, which was a little awkward haha. Otherwise, wonderful experience.

Wonderful experience! The house is so cute and relaxing. We were upgraded from our reservation upon arrival--the room was very comfortable and gorgeous with cookies waiting on us when we checked in. The wine and cheese hour was a treat; I enjoyed sitting on the balcony overlooking the ocean with my wine and cheese. Breakfast was also good. Would definitely stay again! I have never been to Santa Cruz before, and this was a great way to stay centrally located in the city and close to the wharf. It is only about a 5 minute walk (if that) down to the beach.

This hotel was an absolute delight. First thing in the morning of your checkin, you receive a text asking when you think you'll arrive. This worked out great for me as I was stuck in traffic and ended up arriving later than expected, but Charlotte was there waiting for me to help me check in, and she knew I was starving, so left out the afternoon wine and cheese for me to nibble on before dinner. Location - fantastic. Right by the the Santa Cruz Wharf and Boardwalk which has tons of restaurants. Room - I was in room 7. Up a flight of stairs, but a huge room with its own balcony. The tub was so deep I had trouble crawling in and out of it. Perfect for soaking. Bed was incredibly comfortable. TV and fireplace included. A plate of warm cookies was also left for me! Breakfast - Hot and hearty in the morning. Eggs, fruit, bread, granola - a lot to choose from. Employees - Absolutely fantastic. I was fortunate to be able to chat at length with Charlotte, and I can't say enough nice things about her. She's amazing.
