This is a fun place to drive by and check out their window display. In fact, I need to be careful that I don’t go too slow and have somebody hit my car while checking out their pretty stuff in their window.So, I decided to go inside and check out what they have these days. There’s a lot of eye candy in their shop. Besides new items, they also have gently used. What they have to offer doesn’t look like it comes from a box store.They have clothing for men and women.There’s a nice selection of cowboy and cowgirl boots. The store has a southwestern feel to it. Besides clothing, they have bolos and earrings too. I love their soft, fringed leather bags.I talked with the owner, who was very friendly. She has had the store for over a decade.There is parking on the street.

Every time I go into Tomboy I find another piece of beautiful sterling/turquoise jewelry, a pair of amazing boots, or something special for my home. There is a special vibe that is truly part Santa Cruz, part Wild West, and part desert. Thank you for always being so welcoming!

I loved several of the clothing items at Tomboy. But a lot of the decor and trinkets in the shop preserve a pretty stereotypical depiction of Native people and Native culture. What some might see as kitschy 1950s-era “Cowboys & Indians” antiques could be pretty disheartening to an Indigenous person that walks into the shop.They were also selling a couple items of clothing that seemed really culturally insensitive to Native folks. It’s possible to do retro Western wear without perpetuating harmful stereotypes and cultural appropriation. I think this store would benefit from a critical look at what they’re selling and why.

This store is a dang GEM! It truly has something for EVERYONE (yes, men too!) Besides gorgeous vintage treasures, this shop showcases local artists & jewelers as well as made in the USA items too.The owner (woman power!) is sooo talented at curating some of the most unique and beautiful pieces in the West!The staff is always super friendly and helpful, too!Also, Tomboy has the BEST PRICES. Cowboy boots, turquoise jewelry, Mexican blankets, leather & suede, denim, gifts, hats, decor...so much radness!If you are in Santa Cruz for any reason, do yourself a favor and stop here before you do anything else!Run, don’t walk to this diamond of a shop!

Really cute shop with tons of cool things for sale, however, the employee there was unpleasant. I got past not being greeted but tons of other white customers walked in and they were greeted with a warm welcome. I tried to buy a pair of sunglasses but the lady at the register continued her conversation for a while and I just simply had no time to be unacknowledged, so I just left. Also nobody wore masks in there. I highly recommend skipping this store if you are a person of color.

SUCH an unpleasant experience. I had been looking fwd to checking out this shop since arriving in Santa Cruz last week. Came in, was not greeted or acknowledged. The woman working there watched me pick up a white silk piece and immediately came over to let me know that it was dragging on the floor?? When I walked out of the fitting room, the store was full of other customers. I had not heard her once say anything friendly to anyone, and she walked straight past me to clear the room, again without acknowledging me or saying anything. A terrible vibe, NOT the place to go if you are a stylist or in the industry and looking to have a inspiring experience. Much better vintage around Abbott Square anyway.

Top shelf merchandising - items are priced a bit more than a thrift or even other vintage stores, but that's not really this store's niche - it's worth the effort to make your way here - cool stuff.
