Staff friendly. Room was clean. No cable/tv but that wasn't a biggie. Our only real complaint was how bad the beds were as well as the pillows. Beds were so uncomfortable we almost left. Notified front desk staff in the morning who said they would let management know but we never heard back. Overall, we were disappointed and probably won't stay here again.
Noteworthy details: Beautiful views. The beach is right across the street.

Stayed at Beach Street Inn on a short trip with friends and it was perfect! Staff was friendly and courteous and they were even able to grant our request for neighboring rooms. Rooms were clean and I loved the spacious shower. We enjoyed the pool, hot tub, and of course the beach, which could hardly be any closer. Room rates were super reasonable for such a nice little place. I'd stay again and highly recommend.

Everything and more than we thought it would be. The patio pool area is very pretty with a serene and relaxing vibe. The coffee is great local deliciousness. The views are amazing. The staff makes you feel like the only guest. Cannot wait to go back!
Rooms: Neat and clean. Just perfect. The bathroom was huge!!
Nearby activities: You don't even have to go a block for activities.
Walkability: We parked and only drove twice in 4 days we walked everywhere.
Food and drinks: So many choices and you are at the wharf too. The Picnic Basket is a great place to grab breakfast or lunch.
Noteworthy details: We stayed in October when less fog and 75* days are everyday. Very nice stay on a budget!

Perfect location from the beach! Literally right across the street from the sand and pier! 7 minute walk to the boardwalk. The staff is courteous and friendly! The room was a great size. 2 queen beds, fridge, microwave, “kitchen sink”. No “closet” but plenty of drawers. The bathroom was a great size as well- SENSIBLE with large shower only, no tub. We didn’t need a tub anyway. Sliding patio door facing the beach. It’s beautiful! The patio has no partitions from your neighbor but that did not bother me at all. I should’ve taken pics of my room right when we got there but I was so happy with the view I totally forgot. My pic of the room is when we were checking out. Restaurants all around which is so convenient. I would definitely go again!
Walkability: Directly across from the beach. So much around the hotel. Plenty of restaurants. About 7 minute walk to the Boardwalk.

Amazing location with friendly staff. The front desk has a popcorn and snow cone machine which my kiddos loved. We had a shared patio with an ocean view. 100% recommend and we will be coming back ?

This hotel was exactly what we were looking for! There were quite a few options for cute places to stay along the coast but so many had reviews implying that they weren’t the cleanest. I found reviews for BSI that emphasized the cleanliness of the room and they proved correct! Add on top of that the adorable beachy exterior, the pool, the updated rooms (the crown molding!), and most of all, the location?? These Kansans were very happy. I do have to admit that we were a bit surprised that we couldn’t get early check in (I’m so used to traveling for work and staying at corporate chains that allow early) but after seeing how clean the room was I understand that they make an effort in taking the time to make sure each room is spotless. Photo is view from parking lot.
Walkability: Private staircase from parking lot to Main Street that parallels the beach. The pier is just across the street. We walked to the pier and beach multiple times but we didn’t feel extremely safe walking to other restaurants in the area.

We stayed in an ocean view balcony room. Loved the view, heated bathroom, pool, and friendly service. The one thing I would change is to have vertical blinds over the patio door rather than a drop shade and add a locking screen so that one can enjoy the view more. Also was not sure whether the glass door was tinted enough to allow us to maintain privacy while enjoying the view.

Great location - right across from beach!
The rooms are spacious and clean - we love the kitchenettes with a private bedroom, double Murphy beds and a sofa bed in the living room, anda patio that faces the ocean. Plenty of room for large families/groups. Free WiFi.
The kids love to swim here! The office provides complimentary snow-cones, popcorn and hot cocoa daily, while the adults enjoy the warm fire-pit at night
Nearby activities: Across the street from the Boardwalk, Pier/Warf and Beach.

We had the pleasure of staying in one of the suites at the Beach Street Inn & Suites for my husband's 50th birthday and they went above and beyond to make it extra special. For this and many other reasons I'll share with you, it's the only hotel we will stay at for all future visits to Santa Cruz.
When I asked what he wanted to do for his 50th, he said he wanted to go to Santa Cruz and his only requests were a balcony and walking distance to the beach. After some research, I decided on the Beach Street Inn and Suites due to the proximity and the shared balconies overlooking the beach volleyball courts.
We booked in December for mid-May and I called to confirm in February since it was booked through a third party site. Mike's parents, sister and cousin booked a couple rooms as well. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite overlooking the ocean and set back from the street but did get a chance to check out their rooms. My mother and father in law had a room with surfboard tables which was awesome though I think next time they should get a fireplace suite which is a little quieter and more their aesthetic. Mike's cousin and sister and their 2 kids shared a room next door which was nice since they shared a balcony and could room hop. There are steep steps leading to each of these rows of rooms and since it's on a hill, each room's balcony has ocean views. The closer you are to the street, the closer you are to the action but the farther you will need to haul your luggage up and down. There a limited number of ADA accessible rooms and my father-in-law should have asked for one but the front desk staff did offer to let him keep his mobility scooter in their office and charge it there as opposed to try to get it into his room or keep it locked on the back of his SUV.
Since we were traveling from Sacramento area and I didn't want to travel with his birthday cake, I called ahead and the front desk staff were happy to accept and store a cake delivered from Milk Bar. They even offered to set up birthday decorations and have it stored in the fridge in our room. See what I mean by above and beyond?!?
They offer a free espresso bar (think mochas, lattes, hot cocoa, tea and free flavor pumps) in the morning from 6-11am. Free snow cones from 1-4pm. And free popcorn from 5-9pm. These little perks are such a money saver especially if you are traveling with kids. I had 2 peppermint mochas and even with tipping $1 per drink, I saved a ton of money. It won't replace the delicious $7 drink from a trained barista but it's a good substitute for the lack of a coffee pot or Keurig most hotels offer. We still had breakfast after but it was a nice jumpstart while getting ready. The first morning we grabbed a couple things from the Picnic Basket downstairs. The chocolate croissant was warmed and buttery and delicious. There are a couple cook to order options as well bit it's more of a grab and go place than a breakfast spot so we made reservations for Jack O'Neill's restaurant which overlooks the ocean and is walking distance from the hotel. Most restaurants within walking distance open later so driving for breakfast to downtown (5 minutes away) or picking up donuts and milk from Farrell's or Rock & Roll Donuts to keep in your kitchenette if you are an early bird like me.
Our on slept on the murphy bed and had his own tv but he also had the option of the pull out couch. Using the wifi password, he finished his college homework and gamed online with friends so her was happy.

Absolutely wonderful experience. The prices were the best in the area, I compared all the hotels prices from that block. The rooms were very clean and maintained. I, conveniently while I was in the pool, was able to observe the blankets being changed in all the rooms they were cleaning. There is an actual safe parking area for guests, which surprisingly not many of the other hotels in the area have. There are many free amenities, such as laundry room, water refill station, ice station, unlimited free coffee/tea/ hot chocolate/popcorn/snow cones. Heated pool, spa area. The guest services were very kind, friendly, and professional. Perfect location for the boardwalk and the beach. Highly recommended!
