Santa Cruz Tire & Auto deserve the highest review that I could possibly give. All the staff help you every way they can,and it's like a whole village comes to help you and they give you the feeling that your important, and the only one at the moment even though there is a million things their all doing.my sons little 2000 Honda needed something really special and out of the norm it was fixed plus so many other things already done so we could drive it
Your all awesome with your own specialties plus helping every customer. To the New Owner Carl thank you, your staff are the best ,Sandra .

So impressed with this place. My car broke down during a long trip and they made an effort to be able to help me that same day. Extremely polite and helpful staff, transparent service (they let me take pictures of before and after the repair). So thankful for their help.

Holy moly these guys like to price gouge your eyes out! First of all they charged $185 for a diagnostic. Second of all, their quotes for parts were at least 200% higher then what parts cost online or from auto zone. It's mechanics like these that give the trade a bad name. I hope the owner has a few Lamborghinis and a house for every person he rips off.

Love these guys! Traveling through from LA, they had my oil and filter changed in 15 mins, with a smile. Ask for Dino!

This is a shop that I would recommend to anyone in the area, hands down.
For starters, they are a star certified smog shop which is relevant for anyone with that need because there are only a small handful of them in Santa cruz. This is a fill service shop as well.
I have been taking my cars here for several years, and recommend them to my friends always. Often times when going to a mechanic shop, it's easy to feel intimidated in fear of not getting good service or being ripped off. I have never felt that way here.
I also often times in my past have been to mechanic shops where the customer service people you are speaking to are rude and snobby about cars and don't have the people skills or want to answer questions, but very consistently at santa cruz tire and auto the people at the desk are very friendly, talkative, laughing and social. It very clearly feels like a family business, and I can comfortably ask any questions I need to ask and get friendly and reasonable responses and I feel like this is a very important factor of the already difficult experience of needing to take a car in to get serviced.
The service you can expect from this shop is also top notch as well. I have often times had them be very honest with me and tell me I didn't need new tires, oil, or brakes quite yet even though I thought I did, and they could have easily made a sale off me in that moment but told me to check back in a few months.
To me, that type of honesty is unmatched in most mechanics who are trying to make sales vs giving honest feedback.
The only downside I have experienced, which is pretty regular for this shop, is that the parking lot situation is rough because they always have a ton of cars in the small parking lot because they get very busy, but it's just something that you need to expect when coming in and plan accordingly.
Highly recommended shop.

After a cross country trip my vans axle snapped, I made it to Santa Cruz Auto and Tire miraculously. Chris was awesome, Dylan was awesome, everyone there were just honest, easy going people that wanted to help. They advocated for me, calling the dealership back home showing proof that they hadn’t greased parts appropriately, having a shop that I felt was on my side is something I won’t forget. I’ve been to so many shops over the past year and this one was special, seriously. Can’t say enough good about them and if I was still in the area they’d be my shop always.

Very nice, helpful and good price. I brought my GMC camper van in here for an oil change. It was done in a couple hours with a safety inspection and great price. They did not try to upsell me on anything I did not need. Seemed very honest.

My SUV was having issues turning on. Unsure if it was the battery. Went to Santa Cruz Tire and Auto Care with the intention of just replacing the battery. When I got there, instead of replacing the battery at some price, Cindy who helped me said they would just check the battery. Dino the tech went out to my car, found that the connection to the battery was loose, tightened it, and that was that. No need to change the battery and everything took less than 15 minutes. I went in to see if I could pay for the service and Cindy said it wasn't a big deal. Kudos to both Cindy and Dino for helping me out. I would highly recommend going here. Staff were great.

Karl did rectify the complaint and give me a fair price after reviewing this review. For that I have a great deal of respect. Karl is the owner and his attentiveness to this situation was inline with a stand up owner/operator. Still, however, I am I happy with my overall service. My front brakes are already shot. This was a caliper and pad replacement, and it's only been ~6mo and they are shot. One of the calipers, just one was a rust bucket when it was put on. They told me, it's the quality of the parts and likely just surface rust from sitting on the shelf, even though it's just one of the two. Makes no sense, and being coastal and having already taken my truck back due to mistakes...just replace the dang part! That is the right thing to do. So, thank you Karl for your effort, but the business fell short. I find lately the problem is not the owners, it's the lack of oversight of the staff and the lack of enthusiasm and appreciation for one's profession. There are really so many good mechanics in Santa Cruz, really, after living here for 25 years and 6 different cars - don't bother with this place. It's just not worth money, and more importantly the time.
