They 'updated' their website and app but honestly they're pretty much the exact same but worse and buggier. The app is buggy and sometimes won't open, but is mostly fine. The website isnt really any different but it's lacking options for notifications that existed before they changed things. I thought they would add more information or online banking options etc. but it's even worse than it used to be somehow. Otherwise, the bank is average but I really want an actual update to the online banking aspect

Pretty good. Not exceptional, and I've had a few issues, but overall not a bad choice. Probably the best bank in the santa cruz area

BEWARE: If you complain, they will close your account without notice! I am a 57 year old business owner and I have never experienced this with an establishment before. I originally asked a teller to release a very important and very large payment. She replied she would and call me to let me know. She never did and I never heard back from her. Next time I was in the bank, she was helping me with something, so I complained to her that she did not release the payment or call me. A couple weeks later, all of a sudden, unexpectedly, my account was closed and I had no idea why. The manager of the bank, whom I've known for quite a while because I've been a member of the bank for 15 years (and he was standing there when I complained and saw what happened), I spoke with him and he informed me the girl I complained to told the bank she felt "threatened". I couldn't believe it. He said he was surprised they closed the account for complaining. He said he tried to intervene, but he couldn't do anything. The bank said they sent out a notice informing me, but I am meticulous with my mail and I never received any notice. The account was closed suddenly, without notice, and I had no access to the recent transactions or statements. As a side note, I agree with other reviews on here, they do not help you with fraud. A year ago, I had one transaction that was fraudulent, and they said they couldn't help me with it. It was only $120 so I just ignored it. I used to recommend this bank; I can no longer recommend it. Your account and your money are not safe here. You are unable to complain about anything for fear of unexpected account closure. Customer service is lacking. I highly recommend going to another bank.

Do not go to this bank for any SBA loans. I am extremely disappointed with the service we received here. Very unresponsive communication. Very slow process, even when they tell you that "they are working on it" which is not true. I sent them a document, which they needed to request access to, and it wasn't until we called them almost 3 weeks later that they even attempted to open it. Save yourself the time and go elsewhere. Update: Thank you Mary Anne for your response. I do take responsibility for not asking how long it would take. Although I do not agree that 3+ months should be considered an appropriate amount of time, if that's your policy, then it was my mistake for choosing this institution. I just know that once we asked to speak to the supervisor (which we were never sent the information for as they had promised) did they start working on our file. Maybe letting prospective clients what to expect should be something that should be taught to your representatives to let your clients know up front. Most of the time we are new to this and don't know the specifics other than we are trying to get an sba loan

We are getting married in September and wanted to open a joint account. On their website it says you must have an appointment to come in and open an account. I filled out their online contact form a week and a half ago. No one ever got back to me. We opened a joint account at a different bank instead.

I've banked with SCCB since 2000... I had all my money there but pulled it out once they didn't know how to help me when being scammed out of $$. The fact they wouldn't let me dispute FRAUD is not acceptable. I pulled my money out and went to a bigger bank... if you have a third party vendor, make sure you know how to assist customers when they're scammed. Completely not acceptable. AND on top of that- the ebanking department was super rude to me, multiple times. After being scammed, that's the last thing i needed. Super horrible customer service over the phone, you might want to train your staff better before working with a third party... so glad i left and went elsewhere. Besides Darin and Kevin in Santa Cruz (thank you for being kind) I've had the worst experience recently.

The worst! They can't exchange money because I'm "not a customer". WOOOOW!!!! Money is money, right? Apparently not to them. So you have to pay for them to touch your money. Unbelievable!!!!!! Ask I wanted was then to exchange 20's for 100's and they said "no, because you're not a customer." Seriously, wtf?! Ridiculous! I'm not a customer of yours and I NEVER would be now!!

Terrible outdated Atm service. Always a hassle to cash a check, even If you have been banking there for 10+ years. If you have issues on a weekend good luck being able to talk with someone, or trying to put a hold on your account if you have fraud issues. This bank is having a hard time keeping customers, for the lack of above mentioned.. Its a small bank with little to NO service help or advice. I personally know of 5 people who have closed their accounts with this bank because of issues..ALL LOCALS! Yes we want to support local business but this place is a complete Joke! I have had issues on and off for too many years, and enough is enough.

Applied for PPP covid stimulus as a local restaurant that is a stones throw away from their bank and was declined without a real reason. We are a new business and had confusion about the process, so they said to apply elsewhere. Sadly ironic that as law abiding citizens we closed down when the COUNTY told us to close down and then the COUNTY bank refused to fund our gov backed stimulus loan. They seemingly treat it like a traditional loan and only look out for what is equitable to them.

I am super impressed with the customer service we received from Armando at this bank. Our personal and business banking has been at Wells Fargo for over 20 years. When covid hit, Wells Fargo turned their back on us - and many other small businesses. The folks working at Wells in Aptos are lovely - but it's closed and we only had the corporate numbers to call. We turned to SCCB and although we don't bank with them - yet - they immediately helped us to apply and receive the PPP loan which saved our business!!!! Armando was super available - when I called and got the voicemail, he always personally called back immediately or very soon thereafter - even during nonbank hours. This bank was clearly prioritizing helping small local businesses!

My bank failed me on PPP. Santa Cruz County Bank came through even though I don't have an account with them. You can say that you care about the community but it is action that proves it. I am switching to SCCB!

Not impressed so far. I do most of my banking online, and so far, it seems like the mobile and desktop interfaces have technical issues that don't allow me to log in about 50% of the time. When I am able to log on, the account interface is not very intuitive. As an example, It took me half a day to figure out transfers were hidden in the "bill pay" section.......time for a redo

What a great place! I currently am banking at Wells Fargo but will be taking my business to Santa Cruz bank when the Sip is over. I was having some trouble with some paperwork that I needed to fill out and really needed help. Mia that works upstairs at the bank on River street was so friendly and helpful. What a relief I felt when I left there that someone had finally stopped what they were doing on there busy day to help me when I wasn't even a banking costumer. Thank you Mia ! If I could give you a thousand stars I would. You really made my day!
