Expensive and the management needs customer service training. I bought a bathing suit last summer. I was in Santa Cruz for vacation. The bathing suit was a little under $300. It was a three piece bathing suit. When I left the store, the alarm went off the store clerk assured me that she had taken off the security tags. When I returned to Sacramento, I noticed that the tag was still attached. I called the store to ask them if I could mail back the bottles because the security tag was still attached. She advised me that they would not do that and I asked to speak with the manager. The manager advised me to go to Nordstrom‘s, with my receipt, and ask them to takeoff the tag. I explain to her that that was very inconvenient since I did not have a vehicle in Nordstrom’s was about 30 miles one way. I asked again if I could return the items by mail and she said no they do not do that. I asked her how the company rectifies employees mistakes and she told me that she provided me a way to get the tag off. I now have a totally useless $300 bathing suit. I have already posted this on yelp and I thought that I would help everyone else out too. I saw another review on yelp stating the exact same thing I believe that was in the year of 2021. I seen that much has changed in two years. I know that I will never be back in that store again.

Wonderful service by the sales staff. Management, however, needs to fess up to their employees mistakes. I bought a three piece bathing suit. The bathing suit was a little under $300. After I paid for the suit, on the way out of the store, the security monitor went off. The sales staff assured me it was OK, they took off the security tags and I was free to go. I was in Santa Cruz on vacation. When I got back to Sacramento, and I went to put on the bathing suit, the security tag was still on the suit. Only the bottom was still tagged. I called the store when I got back to Sacramento and asked them if I could mail the bottoms back to have the tag removed. NO! That was not an option according to the management. They were not going to remove the tag and mail back to me. I was asked to go to the closest Nordstrom's to have the tag removed. I told them that was inconvenient since the nearest Nordstrom's was 20 miles away, and I did not have a vehicle. No solution was ever made to make this customer happy. I cannot believe that. I spent that much for a bathing suit that I can't even wear. If you do shop there, make sure the staff doesn't make the same mistake twice. I see another person posted another review stating the same thing. They were lucky enough to be able to take the item back and get the security tag removed. Too bad about me!

Great shop with nice selection and friendly knowledgeable employees. I really appreciate that they offer a wetsuit recycling drop-off too.

I got some cool men's shorts here! In an ideal world I'd be able to call up a surf shop like this or the smaller ones before a surf trip to Mexico and instead of bikini bottoms there'd be an array of women's surf leggings to protect me from board rash. And lots of rash guards and none of the women's clothing would have any floral prints or pink that would make me look extra basic. There would be bikini tops with clasps and adjustable straps and surf hats to protect me from the sun. I wouldn't have to go on Amazon and mix and match. That being said their women's marketing team is making their stuff less gross unlike the ONeill women's team which believes women should look like they give massages to Epstein (just kidding) and literally should never have fun. Ideally this store would also feature really muscular female surfer models and there would be clothes I could actually wear around the Bay Area for months that aren't four hot days in September. They'd also have tons of cool women surfing short boards and burning bikinis in a bonfire and men would surf in Speedo's but that's the next step of the revolution

So grateful to the staff at this Rip Curl location for helping me pick out surf booties earlier today. Both the staff here and at the Rip Curl outlet have been exceedingly helpful and knowledgeable about the surf products they are selling. As a new-er surfer, albeit a local to Santa Cruz, it can be intimidating going into stores and asking for help, especially when buying for the first time (i've borrowed boards/suits from friends until recently), and the staff here and at the outlet have been super reassuring, kind, and chill with all my questions. I didn't get the gentleman's name who was working around 2:30pm on Sunday, December 13 (sorry!), but he was a taller guy with curly hair and helped me out so much! I'd recommend this store or the outlet for any and all your surf needs.

Decided to stop by and check out a wetsuit. I found a nice one that I liked. However the sales associate was insistent that I buy the more expensive wetsuit because he said it was for all weather. I bought the wetsuit he recommended it was $300 dollars The first day I wore the wetsuit to the beach the zipper broke off while I was taking it off after my first surf session. I immediately drove back to the store and asked to exchange the wetsuit for another more sturdier model. The store clerk said no. She said because I had worn it one time that I could not exchange it or recieve a refund. I told her that the zipper was very cheaply made plastic and broke very easily. She called the owner who also said no return. The shop was not very helpful. Also $300 wetsuit should be made with better quality than this suit. Honestly. I've bought $50 wetsuits off amazon with better quality than this. Very disappointed. ( update) they let me borrow a loaner till my suit is repaired and the loaner suit has holes in it. So they might as well have gave me nothing because a wetsuit with holes in it dosent work.

Excellent staff / customer service team that outclasses its oneill and pacific wave peers. However, they don't have the inventory or selection of those stores.

Rip curl is one of my favorite brands. Great little shop in the main area, so a good convenient location. The guys working the store very friendly and cool. They had a nice selection of shirts which is what I'd come to look at in the first time. Everything seemed cleaned up and organized which I could appreciate. Will definitely return.

All the staff is cool, but that kid who looks albino named Collin is the dankest boi I've ever seen. The prices are too high but it's not their fault.
