I did spend a good amount of money on clothes that I do really like this holiday season at Pacific Trading Company. However it's unfortunate that each time I visit, I am followed around and questioned on every item I handle and try to look at. I am also followed to each space in the store and stared up and down as if I am going to shop lift. I even experienced a sales person in the dressing room letting me know just 1 minute after I started trying on clothing that she could take anything out of the dressing room as it could be cluttered? There was no clutter in this room, if she felt I was going to shop lift then why did she not sit in the room and stare and me there too? Then each time you leave the dressing room, you are asked if you are going to take or purchase the items in your hand. Just another way to make customers feel uncomfortable. I feel very uncomfortable shopping in this store and have no reason to go back. If you want to feel like a criminal, a shop lifter, stared down and followed on every footstep with uncomfortable questions then you will love this place. Another horrible experience to remind myself to never go back to Pacific Trading Company in Santa Cruz and Capitola.

The people are super friendly and always available to help. They have a variety of beautiful designer clothes to choose from.

Just came in to check out some clothes because I've heard they have very nice clothing. When I walked in I was greeted at the door, which is totally fine. Then as I proceeded to just look around at the clothes I was literally followed around the store which led me to feel very uncomfortable and leave. While browsing at clothes I don't need someone peering over my shoulder asking me questions/if I need help every ten seconds. This store is definitely made for older women, but young women should be allowed to come and shop too. Seemed like they thought I was stealing but I had only been in the store for less than a minute. This store has terrible energy/engagement towards younger guests. I would hate to work here:( I would give ZERO stars if I could

Great selection of clothes but more importantly the staff (maybe owners?) has a great taste and was extremely helpful. I ended up not finding the exact fit I was looking for but had a wonderful experience

Dangerous. I just popped in after noticing a table of Mother Jeans. I have a few pairs, but I was hoping they had these particular jeans I haven't been able to locate in my size. They did! I purchased them, a beautiful wrap top and green beaded drop necklace. I jumped back in the next day to get another pair of jeans, and bought a gorgeous mother of pearl necklace. Service is super friendly and selection is fire!

Great shopping experience! The staff are super friendly and the dressing rooms have the most flattering lighting! I just felt lovely in everything. Bought 4 out of the 6 things I tried on. I like how the staff will give you their honest opinions and also make you feel beautiful when you're trying things on. Came away with five unique pieces in dresses and blouses and one necklace that I will be wearing for a very long time. Yes, I spent a little bit more than usual but these items are suitable for so many occasions and make me feel lovely, powerful and classy all at once!

I was here a few months ago, only getting around to review now…clothes are very nice and beachy but the customer service is very overbearing. I was asked every minute if I needed help, and after requesting to try on one item I liked, I was interrogated on why I didn’t like the others. After trying on that item and deciding to buy, a sales associate shoved three more clothing items into my arms saying I would probably also like them and I should try them on. Felt very pressured and uncomfortable, probably wouldn’t return.

Great women's clothing store in downtown Santa Cruz. I always find many things that I cannot live without when I shop here. They carry clothes from a variety of different brands for women of all ages and shapes. Sales folks are very helpful. Dressing room is nice. All in all, a lovely shopping experience.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Pacific Trading Co whenever I am down in Santa Cruz!! If you are like me and love AGolde jeans this place is for you! The customer service is always on point and everyone is so friendly! I made it out with more then I needed because the service was soo good!

Update: Came back and invested in a set of Aviator sweats and Sunski aviator sunglasses. Pricey but worth it.This place has been around for a long time. Helpful staff. Great selection of quality pajamas/lounge wear in the back of the store. Fair price for the quality. Super soft and roomy.

Very rude staff. Not welcoming. I understand it's COVID but restrictions have been lifted and masks are no longer mandatory. That being said, I respect that they ask you to wear one but if I want to try on a $400 jacket in front of a mirror for 20 seconds to see how it looks without a mask and no other people are around me, it silly to ask to me out it on. I can see if I were walking around with it off that it is another story. Highly recommend that snooty attitude changes & ALL staff is more warm, genuine and welcoming. Thanks!

I do like popping in here to look around. So far I've purchased a total of three items. All separate times. A necklace, sweater, and a shawl. This isn't your average cheap store, prices are steep, but the good news, is they have a sale rack in the back. That's where I explore and conquer, and the jewelry counter. The ladies who work here, are super amped up ready to help you out. It's worth taking a moment to check it out and support local business. The way the store works, is they sell different clothing companies (Free People, Cut Loose, Eileen Fisher, etc..) and have them all in their own personal locations. Pacific Trading Co, has become one of my usual's when downtown.

The clothing is great selection of styles and price points, it's always very well organized and has a great selection of sale items. I would give the clothing selection 4 stars. The staff is something else, though most are mature they are unpolished "Karen's". I shop there on a regular basis and have had only two people that knew the how to's on waiting on customers. So I must give it 2 stars. So sad that they can't get staff that is more polished. One experience that I had was with a staff member who announced across the store with a raised voice, that my mask was slipping down on my nose and to raise it! I always take care with mask mandates but there really was no need to admonish me. I was in the store yesterday and checking out and waiting patiently waiting in line, the woman in front of me, that was checking out was high maintenance and the staff member was helping her the best she could. Once I approached and placed my items on the counter the staff member immediately picked up my items and handed them to another staff member at the other end of the counter without a word or reason or an apology as to why. RUDE! The staff member that helped me never apologized or even thank me for shopping. Another blunder.

The staff was so welcoming and helpful. I loved the selection of clothing. I wanted to purchase a pair of pants but the button was loose, and I am the one person who can't sew a button. A very kind woman got out the sewing kit and fixed it for me. And Denise in the fitting room was kind and gracious.
