A friend recommended Mobile German Auto Works because she'd had good experiences with them (or at least whoever they contracted with before the pandemic) for a similar old German car. That was last summer when I had started some work in the driveway and got stuck. They said the car would need to be towed to their shop in Santa Cruz (from Santa Clara) even though they advertise mobile repairs as far north as Foster City. I needed some more work done, this time scheduled so I could drive it to their shop if needed. Tried contacting them via phone and no luck. Tried a message on Yelp and they didn't respond for over a month to say they aren't interested in working on my car. Compared to other VW/Audi models, the C5 A6 2.8L is relatively easy to work on. I called around in Santa Cruz and am happy with a competitor. They examined my car and found that the bushing I thought might need replacement was fine, located the actual problem, and gave a reasonable quote. I'm probably going to do it myself because you need to remove the bumper and I need to swap bumpers after a fender bender anyway. They used the rest of the minimum 1-hr fee to check my brakes etc. and said they're in good shape. I don't know if I should give the name of the better shop in this review but check my other reviews.

I have been using the company for the past couple of weeks now. The drivers are always punctual, professional, courteous, and friendly. They have never let me or my employees down. The company's prices are also fair and very reasonable. I sincerely recommend these services to everyone who lives in the area.

I found these people online and I needed a mobile mechanic. They had me pay an invoice for $265 BEFORE the mobile mechanic would even come out, which he never did. The guy on the phone said that all the auto parts stores were closed and it would be hard to get it fixed so I needed to have my car towed to their shop. Once my car was IN the shop he called me the next day and said I needed to pay ANOTHER invoice for $265 to get the car out. When I picked up my car from the shop the receipt they gave me said $152.40. I was charged $530. Apparently the shop it went to isn't even their shop. This guy is BIG TIME ripping people off.

I thought it odd when I was told I had to pay a 167.00 invoice for the appointment. This is NOT A GERMAN CAR SPECIALTY SHOP!!!!! They are a bunch of hack referral agents who rip you to high heaven. So as odd as it was I paid the 167.00 (because they were so busy I had to guarantee an appointment/diagnostic fee) and they said "We refund the 167.00 when the repair is done you get it credited to your invoice." So lo and behold I had to have my car towed because it was a radiator problem. When they told me my car was done I drove to their "shop" which wasn't even them, it was a Champion Auto Service. No specializing in German cars just an ordinary corner repair shop. I could have found this myself and not driven across town 35 miles to do so. Then, when I do get there I have to wait 40 minutes for the manager who's "right next door" according to a technician. 40 minutes later the guy gives me my invoice and there's a 185.00 diagnostic fee which was the appt/diagnostic fee I paid Mobile German Auto Ripoffs. I ask him about it and he says I don't know who told you that but we always charge for diagnostic time we have to spend time troubleshooting the vehicle. I ask why they have a Champion Auto Service when I called Mobile German Auto Works and he says we do repairs for them from time to time. WHAT THE F***? So I get charged two hours at 97.50 an hour (which is more than the appt/diagnostic fee) and then the repair of 795.00 for a broken coolant tank which was accessible without removing any major engine components it was right on top o the right. These guys are ripoffs and they don't take your call when you call to complain. DO NOT CALL OR USE THIS SERVICE TOTAL SHAM, RIPOFF, SCUMBAG, CON ARTISTS!!!!! They talk a good game on the phone but man your butt sure hurts when they are done,

FRAUD ALERT:Do NOT do business with “Mobile German Auto Works”. They advertise under different names with that in it.We called to unlock tires on BMW i bought used and did not know where there. They did not have the right key and so were to refund me. He is RUDE beyond belief and shouted at me that he processed it and i should go F off. He refused to provide any evidence that he did refund. Also, he quoted us $265 and I found out after that was just for one tire! Obnoxious! Plus, we were clear it was for all 4. It seems he was going to try to pull something and try to charge us over 1k to use a little key on a wheel lock.I will be reporting him to the police.

NOT a repair shop! They coordinate, and charge you, for repairs done by bonafide repair shops. You have to give them you VISA card before they even talk to you. I used my AAA towing, but the owner charged me $235 for a tow that never happened. Do NOT hire.

This company is very unprofessional. I waited 2 hours after the designated time to meet despite calling multiple times and the person on the phone kept giving a 15-minute arrival time. The person who was supposed to check my car did not have any computer to check what was wrong with my car despite the fact that the person on the phone stated that he will be bringing it. He took my manual with him and did not return for another 2 hours. The person on the phone stated that he would be arriving soon. I threatened to leave and on my way out I found the mechanic coming by me. I was able to get a hold of him. He bought def blue and connected my vehicle to the computer and took only about 10 minutes to reverse the codes on my car. I was charged $500. It is a scam. Do not use.

They tried taking their payment prior to any service rendered. Furthermore, the funds were withdrawn from my account with NO PERMISSION. I have received a refund after 4 days of back and forth and their representative hanging their phone up on me. Just go to Lloyd’s or anywhere else, they will treat you better and won’t attempt to rob you.

This is a scam. They are not a repair service. This is a referral service. They don't come to you, whomever they can get is dispatched. In my case, Alphonso Towing. The tow truck driver didn't know the charges and said the dispatcher would let me know. They didn't. The next thing I know I was charged $265 for virtually no work. The tow truck drove less than 5 miles to me and I got charged that ridiculous amount. I also had to chase them for a week for a receipt (CA requires it to be provided) and the actual document is basically an email document. We were desperate for service and didn't check the reviews. They stink. Never again. Run from these crooks.

Scam central. Beware. They charged me $165 without permission or explanation. Luckily, my credit card company was able to refund me. Business here smells fishy. Would not recommend.
