I went to this nursery for the first time as they were the only ones to have the plant I was looking for. The staff there is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The quality of the plant and the price was great. I would go back to this nursery and recommend it to anyone. Great selection of plants.

I've purchased many plants from Far West Nursery through the years so I returned there to find a Japanese Maple for my very small backyard that would be appropriate for the sun exposure. To be fair, they have an amazing collection to choose from. After much discussion with a helpful employee, I purchased a small tree on sale (25% off) that was originally $147. We discussed the amount of sunlight it can handle so after getting it home I paid special attention over the next few days to see if it was going to be too much for the tree. I decided it would be and returned the tree to the store to replace it with a small evergreen. I purchased it on September 7 and tried to exchange It on September 13. The receipt says nothing about returns so I was quite disappointed that they would only exchange it within 3 days. The clerk referred me to a VERY small sign at checkout out that I did not see. It had not been removed from the pot, looked just as it did when I purchased it. I'm very disappointed that the return policy was not more visible, that it was not on the receipt or discussed with me when I checked out with my $200+ order. I will not return there - Franz Witte Nursery or Du-Rite In Meridian will be my go-to from now on.

I went to five nurseries and big-box stores in the Capitola/Santa Cruz area looking for a good selection of trees. Far West has the best overall selection, reasonable prices, and very knowledgeable helpful staff. The inventory they have is very well cared for. They do not have every possible tree, but I would give this place a try if you're in the market for something different than the standard stuff you find at the big-box stores.

I've been a customer here for years...came with a picture of the plant I wanted..the older guy at the counter--white hair and glasses--couldn't be bothered to look at the photo of the plant I wanted...then couldn't be bothered to listen to my question...Someone else at the nursery, immediately, knew what the plant was and showed me where it was....I tried to be polite as I paid the unhelpful guy....

This is a lovely locally owned nursery with a great selection of plants of many types and sizes. They are very helpful and plants are well displayed.

I've been making a point to shop there first for several years. While it doesn't provide the selection of big box stores, the service is superb. The folks there happily answer all my gardening questions competently and offer suggestions when asked.

Update: while I appreciate their very knowledgeable and helpful staff, and their selection of ornamentals including natives, I'm constantly disappointed in their selection of vegetable starts.

Woof...talk about poor customer service...tried to get some plants ordered...quite a few...and the person on the other end of the line could not have been bothered...'no...no...no we dont'...no we cant...'...I understand that Nursury people think they are all that(I have been in the biz for 30 years), but this gal had literally no customer service ability...never getting my business again...

Really great selection of plants and supplies, and at reasonable prices too. They had a killer selection of mature cacti for around $30, and I had just come from a different nursery that had very young and minimal selection of cacti for almost the same cost. Far West also has higher quality of plants that seem very healthy. Staff is also knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely worth the visit

We have loved Far West for many years. Definitely check them out! Helpful employees, healthy plants. Since the pandemic they have a much reduced stock of plants. Not sure if that is the reason, or just slow business. They have rented part of their property for trailer storage. Sort of sad to see. But they must have a reason.
