This is a really great box! Coach Daniel has an electric energy and pays attention to every member in the class. Programming is a lot of fun! Members are all very friendly and welcoming. Box is not huge but well equiped and clean. Heads up: there is no shower.

Have been an inconsistent member for about a year before becoming a full time 5-6x a week member at West. Today was the highlight of my year and a half run. Tammy taught the 8am class and was exceptional. I wanted to workout outside so I didn't have to wear a mask and not only did she do double coaching (re explaining all to me outside), moved a speaker outside so I had jams, and also kept track of where I was out in the workout to mitigate me going inside to read the posted workout and waste time. She also managed to track everyone else's rounds and kept everyone on track with the next movement sequence. Every class I've been in with her she starts it the same with "How are you feeling?" and "Any injuries or aches I should know about?" This type of consistency makes me feel well cared for and supported. Because let's be honest - some weeks are tougher than others. (This week's programing was gritty and tough in great ways that stretched my capabilities and my body was feeling it.) Today I worked on my fear of box jumps and every single time I successfully completed a round she acknowledged the work and commended the courage. I appreciated the presence she carried for me, the class as a whole, and providing the most empowering and positive environment.

A wide variety of workout equipment, perfect for first time gym goers to advance body builders. The scenery is minimalistic and modern, rehab bar has great tasting recovery smoothies. Not to mention they're made on the spot. Staff is friendly and regularly clean equipment.

Love it! The community is great, and so are the coaches. Daniel has amazing and contagious positive energy. It's one of my favorite places to be. The programming challenges you too, which is what I'm looking for in my day to day fitness. Love this place!

The gym is friendly and welcoming. They're following all social distancing guidelines. Temperatures are checked before entering the building, no equipment sharing, designated workout spaces for each person and everything is disinfected after use, among many other things!!

This gym is the best one you will find in the area hands down! The programming is amazing- not only do you have a strength component each day but you also have the constantly varied WODs that always leave you feeling like you got the best workout every single time. The coaches really care about seeing you progress and are very engaged. The community is by far the best part of this gym, give it time and this place will become the place you crave to be at not only for the sake of your physical health but also your mental/social rejuvenation. You will progress in all areas at CrossFit West, I sure have in my four years of being a member here.

When I moved to the SC area, I tried 3 different gyms to find the right fit. CrossFit West Santa Cruz came highly recommended and stands head and shoulders above the rest in so many ways. #1. The coaches are second to none. Every coach I've worked with takes the time to scale movements for me individually, and know when to suggest a harder option when appropriate. #2. The class variety. There really is something for everyone. I've taken regular CrossFit classes, a lifting cycle, and gymnastics classes held on Saturdays. There's an Elements class for beginners. No matter what your goals are, there's a great coach to help guide you to the next step. #3. The community! You will meet a great bunch of welcoming, fun people that are genuinely interested in your well being and there to offer helpful advice if needed. #4. Logistics. CrossFit West just moved to a brand new gym and the space is amazing. There's a separate lifting area and lots of equipment. The class hours are convenient and spread out to work with many different schedules. The price point is very competitive with many gyms, especially for the personalized coaching you receive. I think a common myth is that you need some level of fitness ability to start CrossFit- I can vouch that you don't as long as you have the right environment & support. If you are newer to CrossFit as I am, this is the place for you.

This is one of the friendliest crossfit boxes I have worked out in around the world in the last 7 years. Daniel, who owns it, has got to be the happiest coach you'll ever meet and all the other coaches truly care about your performance or form, even when they are just working out along side you. As with all boxes the classes are a great mix of very young to very old athletes from all walks of life so it makes it easy for people new to the area or new to crossfit to fit right in. Love it!!

My one year anniversary with CrossFit West is tomorrow, August 31st. What I have gained in this past year: Strength- I can now lift over 130 pounds. Confidence- Every visit to the gym I hold my high, I just try my best with everything I attempt. Endurance- I can now burn 10 calories on 48 seconds on the assault bike. It's so fantastic for my heart, my agility, my bones, my everything. Positive attitude- Everyone at the gym is kind and supportive, even from my first class when I didn't know anything. Each coach/instructor treats you with respect and professionalism. Everyone smiles and laughs. It's contagious. Personal training with Daniel Jaharngard has been a stellar experience. I now know how to lift properly and push sleds, swing kettle bells, and just started to learn how to climb rope. I slowly lost 18 pounds and gained muscle mass and definition. I feel happy and alert. The classes are challenging in an exciting way. I never got hurt or overly sore because form and proper techniques are infused constantly. CrossFit feels like family, and I strongly encourage you to give a try. You'll be glad you did. Janis O.
