We are from Australia and hubby was eager to surf Steamer’s Lane but was dubious about the water temps (bloody freezing) seals, (sharks?) seaweed and entry/exit from Steamers break. Nathan from Cowell’s was so reassuring and positive when we turned up to hire a board and wetsuit and he really went out of his way to assist, even lent a pair of his own booties! His friendly attitude and advice made for a great surfing experience and hubby has ticked off another bucket list surf break. The local surfers were so amazing too! We’re hoping to return the hospitality when Nathan and his partner come to Oz.

I, I used to think this beach shop is a pretty nice cool place to rent stuff and stuff, but Today I was at Labor Day and they're trying to sell their parking spot for 30 bucks and it's okay that to sell the parking spot. But yeah, to lie about it, that's not cool. They're lying that the street parking has cost more than $30. Actually, today Street parking is free.

Amazing service and costumer service me and my family went in there and got greeted with a smile and the whole time we where being helped and the prices are very good for the quality of product I would recommend for anyone beginning ocean activities and need clothes

Great to give 5 stars when I see a 3.5 star legacy. On a raining day I came in window shopping and was blown away with the knowledge / consideration of the younger gentleman operating the shop. He was generous with board and travel knowledge. For sure will want to return when the time is right to snag a Donald Takayama surfboard. Great and big variety of fun board selections. I did notice an "all sales are final" note in the shop. I think that is understandable for a small business, but surely that does not go well. Shop is a bit work, but hey, what history! I even learned about Owl Surfboards. Keep the Aloha up!

I rented a board for two days from Cowells Surf Shop, and unfortunately broke it on my second day. They were really nice about it!

Great spot! Definitely recommend for your rental needs. Wetsuits fit perfectly and made playing in the water so enjoyable!

Horrible customer service. The kids running the shop have no respect towards customers. The kid wearing sunglasses(the entire time) and on his phone while I asked questions. I asked the boy why his attitude was directed towards customers asking questions about a rental. I also asked why he was so rude. The kids in charge of the store at the moment laughed as I walked out of the establishment. The boy then chased me out the parking lot preceding to make his point as how he was not being rude. This was the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I would not recommend renting a board here! I would recommend having the teens running the shop remove sunglasses and give the customer the attention needed when questioning about board rentals

Me and my husband were on a road trip up the coast. Found Cowell’s and so glad we did. Bought some shirts and stickers. The guys in the shop were great. Super nice snd gave us some tips for our travels further north.When in Santa Cruz stop by this surf shop.

I’ve been going to Cowell’s for 25 years. I moved over 10 years ago and they still treat me like family. Very laid back atmosphere, cool vibe, excellent location, and the owners are good hearted people.
