I showed up about 5 minutes before closing and saw the guy close the gate. I just wanted to know if they sold a specific plant. so many other nurseries in the valley forget this one other ones want your money more.

I had a good experience with a visit to this nursery. Made a stop after a visit with our daughter at UCLA. On our way north, we stopped for some succulents. Their prices are so reasonable compared to the Bay Area. A 2 inch pot of succulent was only $1.25 each and a 4 inch for $3.95. They are healthy and have flourished in my home!

I visited the Valencia Maclay Rancho Nursery and purchased 2 plants. When I got home, I watered them and the next day I planted them. Fast forward 7 days and the plants are failing to thrive. I removed them from my planter and I returned to nursery for an exchange, well within the 15 day return guarantee which is on the receipt. The guy behind the counter told me that because I had removed the plants from the containers the warranty was void. Really? Did he expect me to put the plants in the soil without taking them out of the container? If so, not a very smart person, especially working at a nursery where people need sound advice. I will never return to this nursery, or the Pacoima location. They have lost my business, and my family and co-workers business as well.

Incredibly rude staff member who answered the phone and lack of knowledge of very common indoor and outdoor plants when given the common name and the scientific name. When I asked him if I had called a nursery, just to make sure I had the right location, he said "yeah, where are you going with this?" When I concluded the phone call he asked me to be more specific with my request next time. I did not realize the common name of a plant and the scientific name of the plant were not specific. He was short, rude, and just basically a d*ck. Hi will not be giving him my business.

Ok , so honest review, as i recently finished my landscaping job in March 2019. The main guy Edgar sits in his office with mouth full of food. He is unhelpful, zero social skills and unapologetic. Was strange 4 me, but later learned he was owners son. Entitlement issues probably....thk god for older spanish guy Hector, was helpful, even tho he only spoke spanish and i don't. At lunchtime, one time, nursery was open, but Edgar gone to lunch, Hector helped but could not take any orders, had to wait for Edgars return....I morning early am, one time Edgar, not there only Hector, cannot order. Other things too but... Pricing is good, but next nursery over, Green landscapes or something actually helped me, and looked like they enjoyed their job. James was awesome. I did buy stuff from Maclays, (had to, no choice), but my big ticket item, tree was bough at Greens just in case of any issues. To owner of Maclays, don't hire your son, give the job to somebody more deserving! Maclays is cheaper, so if you know what u r looking for and don't care about service/poor attitude, its fine. I have zero patience for people like this....... anybody saying otherwise is lying and probably related, I confirmed with other contractors prior to writing this. He even has a nickname with some.....

Initially we we're super excited to shop here. Their prices were lower than other places we'd been to. We bought 5 trees August 2017. We were told we had a year if any issues came up. Now two are dead and two are barely hanging on for life. One is doing okay. We spoke to them in December and advised them the trees weren't doing good. We were told to just wait they would do better in the spring. Went today to see what our options are. The guy was aloof and didn't seem to care. We were told to contact the person that planted them and see if they had a warranty. Are you kidding? We used the person you gave us the number to even though you claim to not recommend anyone. We later found out we were recommended trees that would not have survived there because of the space they were put i The trees we were sold as "noninvasive roots" are actually extremely invasive and destructive. We have one survive out of all we purchased and will have to remove that one also. More money thrown away.

I am early in the landscaping plans for my residence and had little knowledge of the botanical names of plants recommended by my HOA. I spoke with the patient but knowledgeable staff who walked me through the spacious but organized grounds showing each of the plants on my list. She made a frustrating experience experience easy and allowed my wife and I time to discuss the merits of each recommendation. Now that we have a budget and better plans, I feel more confident about my next trip to purchase.

I think the best thing about this nursery is that it is run by local people who understand the plants that are best for the community. I have shopped at most of the nurseries in the Santa Clarita Valley and this one is in the top tier along with a few others. The prices are reasonable and the service is just better than the commercial nurseries. I would give a full 5 stars, however I believe 5 stars is just too much praise for any business. That would mean they would have no room for improvement. What I would like to see from this business in the future is more internet presence.

Great family run business who treat their customers like family. Amazingly nice, incredibly knowledgeable and reasonable prices. All the plants were in great shape too. They were able to help me plan my garden with the right kinds of plants that work well together and that have the same watering needs, etc. Great variety of shrubs, bushes, some trees and flowers. So friendly and helpful, this is my new favorite nursery.
