Me and my 2-year-old daughter enrolled in the spring Parent Tot Program and was planning on enrolling in the fall preschool. During the first day of the program, I made sure to express a few concerns I had. One of them had to do with the swings on the playground. I told the staff my daughter was still learning to balance and couldn’t swing alone. During the last 15 minutes of the second session when parents and children were separated, I witnessed a teacher’s aide pick up my daughter, put her on a big-girl swing, and give her a big push. My daughter flew off the swing, did a flip in the air, and landed facedown. I ran quickly to be with my daughter, took her home, and called the pediatrician. The doctor advised to monitor her for a concussion. There was no attempt from anyone at the school to reach out to me and check on the well-being of my daughter. The next day I had to call the school to speak with the co-director Chris, who was present when this incident happened. When I finally spoke to Chris, she downplayed what had happened saying “it’s not uncommon for kids to have accidents like trips and falls”. This type of attitude regarding safety especially in the hands of the teacher’s aide was extremely concerning to us and we immediately withdrew from the program. I called Social Services licensing to file an incident report; however, since she’s enrolled in the Parent Tot Program and not the preschool, a report cannot be filed.

I am so glad that my daughter got the chance to attend Little Shepherd’s nursery school. From the start, the teachers and staff have been so caring and patient and helped my daughter, who is very shy, to adjust to going to school. I also got regular updates and pictures through an app and it was very easy to keep in contact with the teachers and staff this way. Now, after 7 months at Little Shepherd’s, my daughter has become so talkative and social, and I strongly believe it’s all because of the wonderful teachers and staff at Little Shepherd’s. My daughter really enjoys her classes with Ms. Susan and Ms. Avia. Also, Ms. Dawn, the office manager, is amazing and she has always been available to answer all my questions. I would 100% recommend Little Shepherd’s to any parents who are looking for a good school to send their young children.

Little Shepherd's has been an amazing school since I went there almost 30 years ago.My oldest has been attending for 2 years and my youngest is in her first year. All the teachers are incredibly patient and kind! They have three classes, basically for ages 2, 3, and 4. The teacher to child ratio is very low so each child is known and worked with personally. The education style is play based, and the outdoor yard is fantastic. They have a large grassy area with a play structure, climbing dome, cement tunnel, swing set, tricycle path and more! Kids often get sick at school but they do have air filtration systems running in each room to help mitigate this. They keep kids on a great hand washing routine as well. The normal hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9am-12pm (2 or 3 day options available) but your child can stay for "lunch bunch" til 2pm for an additional fee. This school is very affordable and beyond worth the cost for such a loving and supportive environment.

This is a wonderful place! They really care about the kids and their overall development. This place gives kids stability and provides a nurturing environment. All the staff is truly amazing, they have been teaching there for years and love what they do. It was the best decision to send my little one here. The only thing, I wish they would have full day options.

This is a fantastic preschool, with warm teachers, a beautiful play yard with enormous old trees, and a real community feel. I have sent both of my children there. I wish they taught k-6 grade too!

A parent once described Little Shepherd’s Nursery School as the”best kept secret in the Santa Clarita Valley”. Many others have shared the same sentiments as they have found their way to the oldest preschool in our valley, with its well equipped classrooms, large grassy playground and sand area, slides and swings, all under the protective shade of majestic trees. The loving staff is experienced and stresses learning through cooperative play. This is a great place for your child or grandchild!
