Paws Palace
2373 Pruneridge Ave #4, Santa ClaraThe groomers at Paws Palace are wonderful! They're so kind, and you can tell they really care about your pets.
My 14 year old dog came home looking like a puppy and had a spring in his step after they gave him the works. He was so happy, and it made me so happy to see him look and feel good.
Their online appointment system is easy and straightforward. I appreciated their clear communication, from confirming and adjusting the appointment through text, and calling me as soon as they were done.
I'll be bringing my dog back here for sure!

Pet Care

Santa Clara Pet Hospital
830 Kiely Blvd UNIT 107, Santa ClaraWe’ve gone through a lot of vets that felt slimy, just trying to profit off the love we have for our pets. Here, we feel like they genuinely love our our animals and ours are their only patients, and I feel at ease because I’m not constantly having to keep my defenses up from attempts to rack up an expensive vet bill. Would give 10 stars if it was an option.

A Pet Villa Dog Boarding and Grooming
1205 Laurelwood Rd, Santa ClaraThis place is a gem!! I feel so lucky to have found a pet villa. Our dog has anxiety and they handled Cali with such love, care, and dog competence. I am really grateful to have found this place. It is head and shoulders above the other dog hotels I've toured - they care about the dogs in a way that is so noticeable. and makes me feel calm and happy when our girl Cali, is there.

Bay Area K9 Association
1089 Memorex Dr, Santa ClaraI’ve been to several training sessions now with Steve now and he has been absolutely great. My staffy loves him and he is very patient. Both hands on and hands off. I checked reviews here prior to joining looking at the good and the bad. The take away of this, is that you have to be willing to put in the work yourself as well to see best improvements. Being structured and sticking to recommendations he gives will show progress. If you’re a lazy owner looking to just have a trainer do it all for you then you don’t understand the objective of training. This is not only to teach your dog, it is to teach the owner how to be the leader and use this training to your day to day. Any certified trainer can just show you tricks and how they would do things. You have to be the one at the end of the day to create that bond and spend time with your pet. Steve will show us methods for engagement and how to peak interest in several ways. Finding the niche that peaks your dog’s interest will be on you and your time spent knowing your dog. Within the last few sessions my pup has been excelling in her training and continues to show progress every session we have. As said before creating that bond and using the takeaway recommendations that Steve gives, you have to actually do it and put in the work. Your pup will only give you their attention as long as you give them yours. Thank you again Steve for being patient and walking us through Baileys journey. You are passionate about what you do and you love dogs to the max. It shows in your work during sessions and the time you spend even texting after sessions show you really care about the process.
Thanks from the whole fam.

Fun 4 Paws
2040 Main St #131, Santa ClaraAwesome. Carine is so great with the pooches. I worry that my bigger doodle can be overwhelming for someone but she clearly knows dogs big and small. He's so spoiled when he's at Carine's! I love that he also gets to play with her dog as well as others when he's in her care. Boarding him used to be the biggest stress for trip planning but knowing Carine will take care of him totally takes the stress away!

The Good Salad (To go only)
371 Laurelwood Rd, Santa ClaraHad a strong salad craving and came across The Good Salad. I went with "build my own salad" option and the bowl turned out to be very yummy. The order was packed well for a DoorDash delivery and the quantity was very sufficient for the price. Really liked that they have a "choose lighter base than default" option which worked great for my liking. Loved their edamame options and would be great if they can introduce tofu too. Will definitely recommend.

Kenny's Cafe
2315 De La Cruz Blvd, Santa ClaraPSA: The shop was closed for a bit due to the gov shutdowns affecting his biz, but now it's open again!
Step inside and you'll understand why Kenny is a local legend. We were greeted with a warm welcome, and hearty breakfast burritos. (I liked the bulgogi one better than the classic bacon / sausage!)
Loved how the food was inspired by the folks he's met throughout his life – tortillas with the cheese melted on (Mexican), a unique adobo-inspired hot sauce (Filipino). This is the kind of small business, and small business owner, that really holds the fabric of the local community together. Thanks for feeding our bellies and our spirits!

Restaurant Gish
1998 Homestead Rd Suite 113, Santa ClaraThis was my first time at Gish, and it didn't disappoint us. It was quite hard to get a reservation, and there must've been a cancellation when it showed an open reservation on the same day. Gish serves dinner only from 6 - 10 pm, and our dinner course took a full 2 hours, which meant they can only have two turnovers. It is a small place with about 25-26 seats total, with 4 seats right in front of the kitchen. They only have a single 4-course meal on the menu that changes every month, and you have to make a reservation in blind about a month ahead since there is no clue what the next month's menu will be. For December, the first course was tofu with winter green salad, which was quite refreshing, and we both enjoyed it very much. The second course, makgeolli mussel bean stew, was an interesting attempt, but it was a bit too salty for our taste - I think mainly it was the reduction of the clam juice and makgeolli. Toasted Manresa sourdough was great. The main course was beef cheek jjim, which was very tender and didn't need to use the knife at all. radish, kimchi, pomegranate, and mushroom somehow all provided a nice balance and interesting, unique taste. Dessert was goguma medley, which was my wife's favorite dessert. Overall, it was quite a pleasure, a nice surprise dinner for both of us, and we will be back for certain. It would be nice to give a heads up on the next month's menu so that people don't end up making a reservation then cancelling later. 2 2-hour dinner is nice for a special event dinner, but it may be a bit too long for others. I'd recommend this place to others to try, but be aware that the reservations fill up quickly, but I think many people end up cancelling too, so it is a bit of hit and miss. Very nice professional staff, explains every food and ingredient, and nice ambiance. Song selection can be hard to please everybody, but my preference is a bit lower volume. We will be back certainly on next occasion.
