Look at his yelp reviews alsoI chose Hennessy for a 56 chevy resto. 3 years later the car was still there. The excuses were abundant. I watched him screw up one car after another . The work was as bad as you can get. I pulled the car. Took it to someone that knew what they were doing.Ended up with $62,000 charged by Hennessy, and non of the work was any good, and had to start over. DO NOT GO THERE. Big MistakeI can give you lots of honest other choices.

Mike Hennessy is the WORST of the WORST. I had seen something about his shop that he works on Classic Cars and I had a 1973 Mustang in perfect condition outside and inside except it had sat in my garage for a good 8 years without running. I owned it about 42 years having bought it off the showroom floor at Paul Swanson Ford. I always babied it and it never spent a night outside. Long story shorter. He had my car about 10 months, did nothing except put in a "new" gas tank and a gas cap and a battery. Big deal. Later I discovered they weren't new. They came from Pick 'N Pull. Always the B.S.'er he said to me he has it purring like a kitten (BS!) One Sunday I took a drive over to his shop and my car isn't there. Monday morning I called and he tells me he put my car in his warehouse where he has 60 customers cars stored. I let him have it! I said he did NOT have my permission to take my car to someplace I didn't know and get it back to his shop I'm coming to get it. I had it towed home and now it's in worse running cond than when it arrived there 10 months earlier. The red flags had been going up all along but what I was told was not the truth. I had my car towed to another shop who fixed it. I felt he was holding my car hostage and I wound up having to pay $3605 to get my car back. It had to be towed because it still didn't run. I told him a few days later I wanted a refund. He laughed. He wasn't laughing when I took all my paperwork to the Calif State Bureau of Auto Repair. They found him at major fault, ordered him to refund me the full $3605. He didn't. They went back to his shop and they told him he was being arrested. He then agreed to pay me. The thought of being arrested, booked and in jail must have scared him beyond words. His wife wrote me a nasty note, however she must know she's mad at the wrong person. I also found out from the investigation that the 3 or 4 licenses he was required to have had all expired 4 or 5 years before this. They told me he has to reapply and will be heavily fined. He thought no one will check his licenses but they did. I sold the car a few months later to a classic Mustang lover. My thanks to the California State Bureau of Auto Repair who jumped on my complaint. So if you have a classic or any type vehicle do NOT take it to Mike Hennessy. Run away as fast as you can.

uses the entire surrounding residential neighborhood to park your cars where they're not safe; the same cars that are being worked on have been there for months- don't count on quick service

Horrible experience. 3 years finally pulled the car. Work was terrible. Hennessy over charged. Violated California auto repair laws. I turned him in. Don't be surprised if once he is your best friend. (ie bring in your car once or twice), you get a $2000 repair bill, which happened on my 91 Silverado on top of my other car. The problem was stalling, and he didn't fix it. His current crew has 2 mechanics. Neither speak much English, and as he called them, "laborers" in an email to me. My guess is he is paying low wages with no benefits, and maybe cash to these backyard mechanics? And charging you more than a dealership would charge. The shop is disorganized and dirty. Hennessy appeared to spend more time promoting himself than he cared about me. My car is at another shop now, and I am starting over $60,000+ down the drain. None of the work Hennessy did was any good. In a few months this new shop has done more work than Hennessy's in 3 years. I will be posting pictures soon, and will link them here. Anyone know a good lawyer? email me with your experience.

I took my classic Camaro to mike after being referred by an upholstery shop. A big mistake. My experience is very similar to the other bad reviews. I had to take my ride to another shop to correct his crews mistakes. I'm sure his good reviews are bogus written by mike to counter his negative reviews.lol. Good luck at this shop!

I built a 32 Chevy and from the ground up and it is a hot rod, which means one of a kind build. I have known Mike for many years and he has done work for my friends and myself on the factory built cars, corvettes, etc.
I had a challenge for Mike and staff and that was to figure out why my rod engine was missing and a few other concerns, remember it is one of a kind hand built with no reference manuals.
Mike and crew dug into it and made it run better than my new care. Engine runs great, cooling system fixed and a lot of great tips on how to make the car even better.
Thanks Mike and see you on the racquetball courts one day. Alan from Family RV
