Vera is definitely a great piano teacher around Santa Barbara area. When we moved to SB area and had my son’s first lesson with her we knew that we found a gem teacher here. Her passion and patience during teaching really amazed us, my son has indulged in working with her, to learn and enjoy many masterpieces in classical music world. She is a true charming and elegant piano teacher and for sure also has her discipline.

Vera Kong is a very passionate, patient and professional piano teacher. My daughter was so inspired, and now she performs with soul! Vera has very clear plan for the kids. When our son turned 5 we thought it would be great for him to get piano lessons, so we looked online and found Vera who has nothing but glowing reviews. We have not been disappointed at all. There’s an ease to her demeanor that makes you feel like a task as daunting as learning the piano can be accomplished by someone just starting, let alone a hyper 5 year old. She’s very calm yet does a great job commanding his attention, and we are so impressed with the progress he’s made so far. He’s even starting to practice at home and enjoy it. Vera has done a tremendous job and we couldn’t imagine a better person to learn from.

Vera is a phenomenal instructor. Working with children and adults at all levels, she sparks a love for music in everyone lucky enough to be in her orbit. Watching Ms. Kong work with children is a delight. She brings levity and joy into the learning process, which includes ear training, reading, mucic history, theory and creativity (improvisation). Further, she studies music education to expand her capabilities as a teacher. For example, she's incorporating audiation based learning (learning music similarly to how we learn language) into her program.

One of the best things that happened during last year was having Vera as my piano teacher. I am an adult first time piano student. While Vera is a virtuoso in her training and experience, she is versatile, intuitive, compassionate, and devoted as a teacher. I would like to recommend Vera Kong as a piano teacher for your children if you regard music teaching seriously. Briefly, Vera is a superb piano teacher and she is passionate about music. Her love for the music is evident in her enthusiastic and energetic teaching.My son has taken piano lessons from Vera since we moved to Santa Barbara a year and a half ago. He started to play piano almost four years ago in Italy and continued to take piano lessons when we moved to Madison, WI three years ago, as a result he has many teachers in different countries and I can compare Vera's teaching with others music teachers.She is much better in more than one respect:She is very patient and attentive to correct bad piano hand postures. She constantly plays together with my son, encourages him and coaxes the very best effort from him.She takes care that her students play a very good piano, well-tuned. Students can therefore well appreciate how the type of touch they will choose depends on the sound they want to achieve.Lessons are serious and she provides an atmosphere where the students can really learn. However, she is very good at making learning fun and lessons are never boring for my son! My son improved dramatically in the last year and everyone recognized that.Along with the technical aspects of piano, Vera addresses performance techniques as well and these have been particularly helpful to my son. With Vera my son started to compete and to win!She is well known and respected so she can offer a student many opportunities, such as participating in competitions, playing with orchestra.I am very grateful to her for everything she is teaching my son.Because it was such a pleasure to witness how much my son progresses in piano, I myself started again to take piano lessons from her. As she is very good with children, she is a patient, passionate and effective teacher with myself too. So, I would not hesitate to recommend Vera to any adults that want to learn piano too.

My 7 year daughter really enjoyed her piano time with Vera, not only in class but also monthly recitals. Vera had deep discussion with student and will set short and long term targets to help students grow their skills. She encouraged students that they are not playing piano alone. They communicated about piano skills and life like a musician.

We greatly highly recommend the wonderful Teacher Vera!! She deserves 10 out of 5 stars! Seriously.For the parents who were told that their son's talents in science and math, we care even more about the cultivation and inspiration in art and music education, at his 10-year-old stage, on-going and persistent, on the right track, so to naturally and capably falling into another beautiful and profound world, MUSIC, like one's life long asset, where he could release for self-entertainment, self-satisfaction, or to indulge in to become one's career.Teacher Vera realized our wish. I was so grateful to have found her, the best of the best, finally. She is a rare but all-in-one mentor who covers the materials such as Kindermusik, Yamaha Piano programs, etc, theories, techniques, dynamics, music stories, performance practice and recital. Not only that, she is an incredible magician, who unleashes my son's potential to believe in what he didn't think he could have played but he could play well by heart-- that only took 3 months.One thing really matters Teacher Vera brought in: train my son to be self-disciplined, practice the piano 5 days a week and then self-motivated to want to play it more!! It's tough and challenging for all the teachers and parents who want to plant that seed in our children. Teacher Vera has that power to have motivated our son to build up that practice habit. We're so happy to see that the desirable improvements and progresses is happening to my son's piano learning with Vera.She is the best of the best!!
