Love this business!! Whether shopping for a custom piece of jewelry, or a super deal on an estate item, I highly recommend State Street Jewelry & Loan. I was recently in for a small repair to a chain, which was taken care of with a smile at no charge. This is a local business worth supporting!

First time in here and was welcomed by Alan who helped me with my Rolex Submariner. Not only did he help me with retrieving my serial number, he also provided me with helpful information regarding my watches internal movements. Super nice guy and very down to earth. When I asked him how much I owe him for his time opening my watch, he said no charge. I will definitely be back here. Thanks again Alan.

Offered me less than 10% on a brand new $2000 iPad with $200 pen and $200 case setup. Don’t be fooled by the beautiful mustache, this guy only wants to profit in your situation. I went to the pawn shop about two miles away and the guy offered me $700 on the spot as his starting bid….

Not a place I would go to again, bad manners is an understatement. The owner "Alan" is a total j**** His personality and attitude inspired me to go to another store and make the same purchase. I was going to spend money in his store until I lost confidence in his approach. Too slimy, scammy, trashy and something about him is untrustworthy. The store needs an air freshener too, it stinks. Never again, I feel like I almost got robbed.

When I started my search for an engagement ring, I had no luck finding what I truly wanted in jewelry stores. However, this was not the case at State Street Jewelry and Loan. My fiancé and I were completely blown away by this hidden gem. Alan created my ABSOLUTE dream ring. It is seriously more perfect than I ever could have imagined. Alan was so patient, explained everything in detail, and was happy to answer all questions. It was reassuring to feel so comfortable with a big decision. I am so in LOVE with my ring. Thank you State Street Jewelry and Loan for all you have to offer. (My fiancé even bought a set of golf clubs from here and loves them!)

Beware all engagement ring seekers! You get what you pay for has never been more true. My fiancé made a major mistake by going here. He bought a custom ring here and then changed his mind and bought a beautiful vintage ring that I fell in love with( the owner Alan then made him buy a diamond necklace in addition to make up for some of the cost of the custom ring). The vintage ring was a bit too big (even after my fiancé brought in a perfect 6.5 to size with) . After having it resized it came back completely flawed (see pictures). The diamonds were not symmetrical, part of the platiNum was sunken weirdly as if melted strangely, and there was a gap between the diamonds. I noticed right away. I was and am totally devastated. The owner Alan says he will only return 125 dollars. My best friend owns A jewelry store in Santa Cruz and is a well known jeweler and took one look at the ring and said "that really sucks they f***** up a beautiful ring but that's why u don't go to pawn shops". Lesson learned I guess. Don't make same mistakes. Go there if u want a surf board or guitar ? Ps he's going to write some long a** explanation with a bunch of numbers but bottom line is if you want a good engagement ring that u can get resized and not screwed with in the end go somewhere else. Not worth the headache believe me. Look at pics.

What a joke! They have 2 people that look at gold, silver & diamonds. One which was a boy I would say a kid had absolutely no clue what he was doing. He had the magnet and went over a chain for like 5 minutes to see if it would stick which it never did! So right off the bat I felt confident this was not going to go well. Then the girl took over to help. After her somewhat testing what I brought she informed me that some Sterling Silver Flatware knives were only going to pay me $2 each so I decided to keep them. Then she showed me her break down of prices for what I brought in and for sterling silver that melt value was $160 she was only going to pay me $24! And 18k Gold that had melt value of $399, she was going to give me $100! And then I had other random things which was like a couple dollars! Let's just say I was shocked and felt like that was beyond unfair! She told me that with silver they don't pay a lot because they dont really want it. Once again I was shocked. I have worked in a pawn shop and never in my life have I heard of not wanting to buy silver. I tried to discuss this with her and said to pay me that low on pure silver is way to low... and she interrupted telling me it's not pure, it's 925. I said ok well what I meant it was in a whole sterling silver. Regardless to say I felt like it was a completely unfair deal and my belongings were appraised by 2 people who were not in my opinion knowledgeable enough for the job. I have been to this shop before like 6 months prior and a man I believe he was the owner or manager was excellent and paid me fair and very knowledgeable. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this shop. If you do go to this place only see the owner/manager to get a fair deal.

State Street Jewelry & Loan is amazing. It’s my go-to whenever I need a present for my wife. They made our engagement and wedding rings, and I have found some super cool vintage pieces there too. Staff and ownership are honest, friendly, and knowledgeable, and their prices are great. Really good selection of bikes, tools, and musical instruments too.
