So I was a bit nervous about staying at this hotel after reading some of the negative reviews. However, we got a room on the 2nd floor, it was exceptionally nice and quiet, yes the hotel is clearly an ex-motel, and yes I can see how on a ground floor unit if you leave food out, you could have an ant invasion. Contrary to some reviews the pool and Jacuzzi were perfectly clean, the inner court yard garden is absolutely beautifully maintained. We were greeted by Aaron, who is mentioned in other posts, and I confirm, that this gentleman does an outstanding job presenting the hotel, its services and amenities provided. Certainly our stay was very pleasant. I recommend staying here.

Rooms were slightly dated in this motel style accommodation and it was a 10m stroll away from the harbour. Would be an excellent place for a multi-day stay as the rooms were spacious and there was a stocked kitchenette. Really nice shower. Free bottle of "Californian champagne" on check in ? Continental breakfast was ok.

A beautiful American hotel. The service was top, there was a bottle of champagne in the room. Every day there was happy hour with wine and a small snack. Breakfast was also okay, I think there is something for everyone. The city can be reached in a few minutes on foot, otherwise the hotel also offers bicycles free of charge. I found it a wonderful stay.

The Inn by the Harbor is a Charming Seaside Escape. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was impressed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The inn boasts classic Mediterranean flare, surrounded by lush gardens. Its proximity to the waterfront and downtown makes it an ideal base for exploring the city. Each morning, guests are treated to a continental breakfast. Don’t expect to walk out of there full but it’s plenty for a small bite. In the afternoon, unwind with a glass of wine during the inn’s small bites and wine reception. Lounge under the sun or enjoy a leisurely read in the charming courtyard. They have tons of foliage and it’s beautiful. Cool off in the pool or relax in the hot tub. The pool is also heated for the colder days.
Explore the waterfront and nearby attractions on one of the inn’s complimentary bikes. The rooms are average and the bed was actually comfortable and we slept well in the quiet which was very nice. The inn’s design exudes a relaxed, coastal vibe. The staff at Inn by the Harbor truly go above and beyond. Their friendly demeanor and helpful recommendations made our stay even more enjoyable. Whether you’re on a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or a solo adventure, the Inn by the Harbor offers a delightful experience. I highly recommend it as one of the best boutique hotels in Santa Barbara. I would definitely stay there again!
Nearby activities: Beach, restaurants and restaurants.
Safety: Very safe
Walkability: Short distance to the water front and downtown.

The only reason it's a 4 instead of a 5 is due to the gym not meeting my expectations. It's actually adjacent at another hotel and only includes a few pieces of cardio equipment. Otherwise the staff was superb, the breakfast and wine and cheese ample and the rooms clean and spacious.

Unimpressed. The room was old with gross carpets, dingy linens and a wall mount air unit that was loud. On top of it all the shower head was so low that my 5”8 son had to bend down to shower. Would not recommend.

Rooms: It appears that updates have recently been made...lighting, kitchen amenities. Very impressed.
Walkability: Only 10 minute walk to the beach

Arron was so friendly and warm at our check-in. And very knowledgeable about the whole region!
Walkability: Everything is remarkably close and Arron provided detailed recommendations for the town. So delightful!
Food & drinks: It’s nice to stay at a place that provides breakfast, nibbles for a happy hour and champagne upon check-in.

The rooms were nice, not anything special but rather nice. The service was amazing and they gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne. The breakfast was simple but nice, and the cheese and wine in the lobby was nice to sit and relax.

Older motel type accommodation but really friendly and the beds are so comfortable - best nights sleep I've had for a while. We will be back.

A good option for comfortable budget-friendly accommodations in Santa Barbara a few blocks inland from the beach/harbor. The hotel offers breakfast and bike rentals (!) included in the price, which is why we chose it. Pool and hot tub too. Friendly and helpful employees. Variety of breakfast options as well as happy hour snacks and beverages. A really nice aspect of the property is its landscaping, with lots of trees and other greenery around the inner courtyard. The room itself was comfortable although could use some cosmetic work (some worn paint and furniture finish) but it's fine. Room, bathroom, and kitchenette were all clean. We would definitely stay there again.

Very nice employees at the reception, the rooms smell a bit damp and are already getting old. The smell probably also comes from the sea air
