The hotel is in a perfect location if you are trying to spend most of your time on state street. Be mindful that since you are in a busy area you can hear the bars from the third floor. The hotel has deals with a lot of local businesses for instance we got free coffees and chocolate croissant compt at Helena Bakery down the street! There are no amenities besides the gym. And there is only valet parking. We parked in the neighborhood behind the hotel for free. We enjoyed our stay and it was exactly what we were looking for. The one elevator is slow.
Walkability: Walkable to anywhere on state street.
Noteworthy details: A bit over priced for what you get. You are paying for the location.

Celebrating a wedding anniversary this weekend , we made a last minute decision to book at SBH! What a great experience. The hotel is right on State st. Walking distance to all! The service and staff are truly amazing, very accommodating. Great lobby and clean rooms. Highly recommend it and can't wait for the complete remodel, amazing building !
Rooms: Clean rooms, cozy, great attention to details.
Walkability: We were able to walk to all, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Right off of State St
Perfect location and able to park and walk enjoying the great weather.

Great looking old-school Santa Barbara hotel. Lobby is very nice. Great downtown location. had we gotten a better room it would’ve been a much better stay. Spent three nights on the second floor where we could hear the nightclub down below thumping until 2 AM. I guess I’m getting old lol but that in and of itself really made the trip suck.

The hotel was excellent and in the heart of everything, however I just want to say that Sarhai working the front desk was superb. She went out of her way to ensure my family and myself had a fantastic stay. I cannot say enough about her professionalism and genuine friendliness that went well beyond the standard front desk service.

Went to Santa Barbara For the orchid show and stayed at the Hotel Santa Barbara. Great location. Great service. Great room. It was located right in the middle of everything, making the weekend that much better.

We loved the room the miinute we opened the door. The front desk person who checked us in was more like an accomplished server in a high end restaurant. You know, the kind of restaurant where they have $700.00 bottles of wine and the servers take home $200.00 a night in tips.
But I digress. At the end of our first day in Santa Barbara, we returned to the hotel around five. I explained to the front desk our difficulties in operating the thermostat in the room. The front desk tries to explain the thermostat. They weren't quite sure. They said they would send the hotel engineer up to the room.
Five minutes later the hotel engineer knocks on our door. He introduced himself and asked a few questions. We were beyond impressed with his communication skills and technical expertise. We are extremely satisfied with our stay at the Hotel Santa Barbara and impressed with their staff. Having spent years in operations at Disney, if Jon A., the engineer who came up to our room, isn’t managing this hotel one day, ownership let one get away.

Location is right in the middle of downtown. Rooms are a little small and out of date. Vallet is very fast and helpful. Staff was friendly.
Rooms: Small, very small.
Walkability: You have everything you need in a walking distance.
Food & drinks: Great restaurants right across the street.

Great location, friendly staff, great checkin and checkout hours, actual good coffee in the lobby every morning, and to top it off, this hotel is not just dog friendly, but dog welcoming - they have dog beds and bowls and a great atmosphere. It's also cute and well located.

There was only one EV charger in the property and that too is broken for a while and not being fixed.

May have been nice back in the day but I would not stay here again. If you have to put in earplugs to sleep after 10pm on a weekday bc of the music from the bar next door is too loud, that’s a problem. Hot water was lukewarm at night so no showers, staff not really helpful, simply not worth the $$. Location doesn’t matter at some point. Rooms are ok but need updating.

I had a really amazing stay at Hotel Santa Barbara during New Year's Eve weekend. Easy booking, and pet friendly! Front desk was very kind and I'd also like to add that this hotel accepts debit cards for bookings. For those of you who can't use a credit card. That's a huge deal because most hotels do require credit cards to book. Everything was so hassle free and I appreciate that! The hotel itself is beautifully decorated, medium sized and eloquent. Only 2 floors, and the room was clean with a well stocked mini bar/fridge! AC in the room to control the temperature was great also. It's right in the middle of everything, I think it's a perfect place to stay if you're visiting Santa Barbara.
