Went to get a fresh breakfast burrito and the eggs were grey. Threw it away it was awful. That was a couple weeks ago. I could go literally anywhere else for a great one. They aren't that hard to make. They used to have a beautiful glass deli counter with many prepared salads but now all that is there is packed into the fridge case. Not appealing. I used to like the packaged hot bar items but got moldy ribs twice. Ordered a turkey burger once and it was still cool on the inside-guess it was cooked/frozen. That was pre co op. I quit giving them chances.Used to live in Eugene Oregon, there were about 5 small natural grocery stores there, they had great hot bar foods. Can't (do it) Wells needs some fresh energy and creativity. Hope the co op can bring it. Right now the deli is just sad. If it wasn't for alcohol sales they'd probably close.

It's a nifty place to shop. Good people work there. Unique food brands, which are delicious. But it's under new ownership, so we'll see how it goes.

Meh. I was very excited that the IV fud Coop was involved in Cantwell's newest incarnation. I went the day before the Grand re-opening and was very disappointed. It's just like old Cantwell's, but with fewer items. I've been an IV fud Coop member since 1978 and love it, but this store is nothing like the co-op. I came for organic food selections, and found little. I left without buying anything, and sadly trucked up the hill to Lazy Acres. I know it is early days in the Downtown Coop's story, but, yeah, disappointed.

I have been going here for years, they have great hot case items and the family that used to own it were wonderful and a cherished part of the community. I knew them all personally.Since it was bought by Isla Vista Co-op, the quality has noticeably dropped. Seems to be run by a bunch of college students now who don't really want to be there, and the family vibe is utterly gone, as well as the attentiveness. New employees are also weird, for example they were out of half and half in the coffee station, and someone said that they "didn't have any more" when I asked. Old owners would be happy to grab some out of the main refrigerator. This employee didn't even look at me, or help at all beyond a cheeky comment....unfathomable with the old guard that used to own the place. Even if they really didn't have more half and half, there was no semblance of care or customer service. They still have a great deli, since some of the same people are still working in the back, but the place has certainly changed since Isla Vista Co-op took over in a negative way. Better off swinging by a local coffee shop for a quick breakfast.

Apparently they are under new ownership as of recently so I am only posting to put their deli on notice that they are going to have to up their sandwich game post haste. As soon as I was handed my sandwich I knew it weighed less than half of what their close neighbors 3 pickles, Daily Grind or Ike's love would have weighed for basically the same price. The mass was not there.

I bought a salad for 10$. When I opened it I realized it was packed 3 days before, the smell was terrible and there was mold everywhere.

Nice grab n go breakfast/lunch spot plus grocery store! Staff is polite and they have a small seating area inside. Breakfast burritos are delicious!

What happened to the old Cantwell's! I heard they have a new owner and wow can you tell. Be mindful if you go in for a bowl of soup it will cost $16 and up and there are no toppings available. I went for Pozole and there was no cabbage, limes, nothing! Mind you there isnt even any meat in the soup. Just broth and those little corn looking things lol. I got a soup and drink and it was over $20. Sorry to say but I am very very disappointed.

It's a restaurant counter in the rear of a grocery store. The food was okay, nothing special. I had the New Yorker which is a pastrami sandwich with sauerkraut and mustard. It was served on two slice of overdone breakfast toast, three thin slices of meat, a tablespoon of sauerkraut, and mustard. More of a snack than a meal. The two others had fish and chips; they said it was good but not great. We were there on vacation, and it is unlikely that we will have reason to ever go back there.

I agree with the other reviews on here. Place used to be really good but now it just seems like nobody wants to be there, it's always so dark it looks closed, like they don't want anyone to come in. Hours don't match website. Expired food in the refrigerators. Building is planned to be razed and they're committed to new building, but I hope they improve.

Changed the price of their very basic sandwich from $9.50 (what’s listed as the price when you order) to $11. No explanation from female owner beyond “oh yeah the price went up”. Been coming here for 10 years. Service, quality, quantity all has gone down. Stay away, take your money to business owners who support the community and frequent customers. Bye

I live right by this amazing one stop shop boutique grocery deli store and can always count on finding what I need. Today I wanted caper rosemary pasta and was able to find everything I needed for the recipe. It's pricey but expected and have such unique flavors of soups and specialty pasta sauces if you don't want to make them from scratch. Their food is really good too.
