The fire alarm went randomly off at 1:30 am waking us up in a very violent manner. Of course we couldn’t sleep afterwards knowing it might go off again. It felt more like staying at a torture chamber of sleep deprivation than a hotel.
I called the night manager and she said “i’m sorry, please let me know if it happens again” (?)
A few hours later in the mornong, once I informed the receptionist, he said “i’m really sorry for your experience” with no actual solutions such as a partial refund, or any kind of voucher for another hotel in the area.
When I asked for him to call his superior, he told me he won’t do it because there is nothing he could do. The lack of answers/solutions other that a fake and useless “sorry” made us feel really powerless.
There were no available spots to park either and had to leave the car on the street.

Awful experience from the moment we arrived. This is a motel and the room is practically on the street, not a 4 star hotel and NOT worth the price!
The fire alarm went off at 2am TWICE while we were sleeping, extremely loud sound and strobing lights. Very unsettling and couldn’t go back to sleep for at least another hour after that. Free parking is advertised but there are like 5 spots so we had to park on the street. And careful with the room cards, if you put them anywhere near your phone or tablet or credit card they will de-magnetize and there’s no one at the front desk after 7pm so you have to call a phone number to come and rescue you, which is ridiculous cause you have to stress about that every time you go after 7pm. There was this noise in the room like water running on the walls that was also extremely loud and very hard to fall asleep to. Completely absurd. After complaining at the front desk the next morning, obviously nothing was done. They just “understood we were upset and they would feel the same way but there was nothing they could do and they could not refund the room”. Thanks for nothing. Do yourself a favor and skip this one. You’re probably better off at a hostel.
Oh and I also overheard the guy at the front desk after we arrived talking to someone about how terrible and annoying it was that we had arrived to check in so so late at at 7pm cause he was waiting to go home. Made me feel super uncomfortable.
Rooms: There’s this loud noise coming from the walls like pipes running. Had to use earplugs to sleep at night because it was constant, super loud and wouldn’t stop.
Also the room cards are easily demagnetized and there’s no one at the front desk after 8pm so if you get locked out - which they told us happened a lot - you have to call an emergency contact and they will come after who knows how many minutes to help you.
Safety: The rooms are practically in front of the street so not the safest. And the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night, waking us up with an excruciating loud noise.
Noteworthy details: They say there’s parking in the motel but there’s only like 6 spots so you will likely have to park on the street.
There is no one at the front desk after 8pm so if you need something you have to call an emergency number and see if they can help you.

Great location, free on-site parking (limited), very friendly staff. Hotel room was very clean, so much so that my room smelt strongly of bleach.
This is an older building with very thin walls, we were unfortunately able to hear neighbouring guests who came in late, talking loudly within their room.
Upgraded decor was appealing but done with very cheap materials.
I was given 3 keys at check-in and was told there were issues with the keys demagnetizing. All 3 of which became inoperable during my 1 night stay. Thankfully this happened before the front desk closed at 10pm otherwise I’d be sleeping in my car!

Clean. Top equipped. Pool warm and clean. Simply a world-class accommodation, unfortunately we only stayed here for one night on our road trip.
You can walk to the pier with children in about 30 minutes.
Rooms: Our room had 2 queen size beds, very comfortable. The bathroom is very modern with a rain shower. The decoration is very tasteful. Everything very bright and modern. Closet - very practical.
Safety: All Save.
Walkability: Fall 3 times and you're on the beach! Incredibly beautiful, spacious beach. 30 minutes to the pier and many nice restaurants. You can also rent a scooter or bike on the promenade (app)

We made a last minute decision to stay overnight in Santa Barbara and had our 2 little dogs with us. We searched for a good while and called Blue Sands Inn directly. John made us feel so welcome! There were 2 rooms available that were pet friendly, one had a fireplace, which would have been great, but we opted for the first floor room that had a kitchen!!! Everyone was super nice! We checked in a bit late and the young lady at the desk was as welcoming as John had been on the phone. The room was very clean and well stocked with everything anyone could need. The decor is very smart, and each bed had a colorful serape that the dogs could wrap themselves in. Heat was great, blackout blinds, all very much appreciated. Morning coffee and treats were a plus. Check-out was simple as well. There were plenty of spots nearby to walk the dogs. And when we went outside in the morning, we found that we were just across from the ocean!!! What a great place to stay. We will be back for sure. Thanks to all the staff!

Disappointing Stay at Overpriced "Motel-Like" Hotel
I recently stayed at the Blue Sands Inn and unfortunately, it was a complete letdown. Despite the hefty price tag of $300, which included an absurd "resort fee" for what can only be described as false advertising, my experience felt more akin to staying at a roadside motel than a legitimate resort.
Firstly, cleanliness was severely lacking. The room and bathroom were far from being in a sanitary condition, with evident neglect in maintenance. It's unacceptable to pay a premium price only to be greeted by subpar cleanliness standards.
Furthermore, the quality of the beds was abysmal. The mattresses felt like it belonged in a museum rather than a contemporary lodging establishment. Not only were they uncomfortable, but the bed frame itself was creaky and noisy. Every toss and turn throughout the night was met with an irritating symphony of squeaks, making it impossible to get a decent night's sleep.
In conclusion, save your money and opt for a reputable chain hotel instead. Blue Sands Inn fails to deliver on its promises of luxury and comfort, and until they invest in essential upgrades and improve their cleanliness standards, I cannot in good conscience recommend this establishment to anyone.

The location is unbeatable, there is a park in front and the beach is 50 m away....The hotel is fine, but if you get a room with a kitchen.....when you turn on the stove the fire alarm starts ringing madly. ...we couldn't even prepare bacon in the morning because even if everything was open the siren would start. I mean...it has a kitchen, but you don't cook....
There is no housekeeping and in a beach place it would be interesting to return and not be stepping on sand. The girls at the reception are fine, but not very helpful. If you prioritize location near the sea, it's fine.

Very nice hotel meters from the beach. There is a good quality price relation.
Some rooms have a fireplace (gas), in winter it is excellent!!!
Walkability: A few meters from the beach

Nice hotel, great location and a delightful receptionist. He was so helpful, pleasant and upbeat. He is exactly the kind of person you want behind your front desk!
Rooms: The fireplace was a very nice addition!

This hotel is indeed a motel, not a 4 stars. And they will never allow you to check in in advance. Even if they tell you that they will text you when the room is available, please do not believe them because no one will text you at all. You need to find the front desk again after 4pm and ask for your room key.

Was very excited to book here, but was disappointed to see that this hotel deceptively lures in customers with an advertised nightly rate that gets inflated with the "facilities fee." I encourage the hotel management to include whatever junk fees they want in the initial price quote to avoid wasting people's time. Decided not to book and will go with a hotel with more transparent pricing.

Motel 6 with a paint job by the beach. Overpriced tiny room with no amenities. You can do way better.
