Always a great experience. Despite not having Emerald Aisle, the staff recognized my status level and accommodated my request for upgrade. Faisal was very helpful upon return and gave me awesome instructions on how to get to my terminal. He explained it in a way that I could easily understand. Thanks, Faisal!

Because of an error that I forgot the Anaheim location closed at Noon (Why would they close at Noon?), National was gracious enough to modify my car rental within seconds and had me rerouted to John Wayne Airport for a vehicle pick up. The staff at John Wayne was awesome. Had my car ready to go! Upon my return, Yahya, the attendant knew that we had to leave immediately and took care of checkout in a very quick manner. Very happy with National Car Rental. I just wish they had a system where I could've been contacted by the Anaheim office that they were closing soon. We could've been there but my wife and I thought we could do a leisure walk from Disneyland. An employee at the Anaheim location could've been seen as going above and beyond (like the people at John Wayne). If this was a review for the Anaheim location, I probably would've given them 2 stars.

All the steps in the rental was easy, efficient, and flawless. I am happy that I chose National. The return of the car in Santa Ana John Wayne Airport was easy and Yahya (the person who completed the transaction upon return) was prompt, polite, and professional.Thank you National for running a smooth operation.

Generally, and in the past, we’ve had great experiences here. We continue to have great experiences with National around the country, but this location has really, tragically slipped. I understand this location doesn’t have an executive area, which is unfortunate, but in the past, the team has always worked to make sure we got a car we are happy with. Today, I was told by Gordon that being an executive member only entitles us to a discount on upgrades, directly opposing the national policy of “You’re always guaranteed a free upgrade.” We were pointed to a Nissan Rogue that had massive dents and 8” plus scratches from what’s appears to be the car being keyed. (We have photos). When we asked to exchange it, Gordon lost it, and began talking about my wife’s body with co-workers as we were just steps away, “the skinny one” he kept calling her, as if the only way to talk about women is their size? I'll not post the other comments he made as to avoid further vulgarity.Fortunately, Sam stepped in. What a beacon of kindness and understanding! Super helpful. She gets it. It’s just a rental car. Asking for one that isn’t destroyed for an executive member seems like a bare minimum.I don’t know what happened to this location. In the past we were always treated great. Hopefully they bring back the service, start honoring membership benefits, and maybe keep the curmudgeons in the back.

After a long flight from the east coast, arriving at John Wayne Airport, it was a pleasure to easily rent a car from National. The attendant was swift and courteous reacting to our reservation. We were treated to a brand new vehicle. Upon returning the car, we had prompt and professional service, that allowed us to make our flight in a timely manner. Couldn’t ask for anything more.

Since we've started using a National corporate account, I have been very pleased with the service, ease of use on the app, and the quality of the vehicles. I am now using them for personal rentals as well.On this most recent trip, I had to make some changes and, like usual, National was super accommodating. Most changes were made on the app, but one required a phone call and was handled quickly, politely, and professionally.

After 15+ years of renting with National, I have only had one less than favorable experience. When a vehicle recently had some mechanical and pickup readiness issues, I was contacted swiftly by managers, the problem vehicle was swapped out easily, and there were several follow up texts and phone calls to resolve any doubts or ‘reservations’ ?, I may have had. While the resolution could have been more thorough by the company, I understand the scope of operations they have going on, and I am happy to continue as a loyal National client. I highly enjoy the emerald club features and executive upgrades at my level of usage. I hope that specific branch locations such as SNA will return to the substantive program, as it is fun, and rewarding for longtime clients to get to choose their own vehicles on leisure, family, and business trips. One of my other favorite experiences with National has been the wide variety of employees of all ages around the US. They are always happy to chat, work a little magic when reservations aren’t tidy, or a payment method is expired. It’s been great.

Great pick up and drop off in CA. I travel out here often, but this time, LAX had be delayed and had to do a last minute into Santa Ana airport. With the last second change from the other National, the agents accommodated me. My car was ready in the new airport without any additional penalties for drop off at another airport - LAX.LAX is always good to me, but this National is my new goto. Thanks!

The car drop off at John Wayne airport overall was a breeze!(Just be careful to follow the signs as the drop off location has changed over the summer)Within less than a minute of parking, Javier came over to check us in. He was polite and efficient in processing our return. When he asked if there were any issues, I did mention that I believed the previous occupant was a smoker due to a light odor. He understood and without having to ask for approval, gave us a good discount for our troubles!So highly recommend National for car selection, speed for pick up/drop off, and empowering employees like Javier to ‘make it right’ on the spot!

I have been using other rental car in the past, but in the last 3 times I used National and so far nothing can beat the experience I had with National, clean new car, best customer service, never try to upsell you. My last rental at the SNA (John Wayne) airport, during the rental return, Faisal went above and beyond to make sure I was not getting lost in the parking garage and walked me to the correct elevator to get to the departure terminal. Great personal service, thank you!

National is my go to place! I travel for work on a regular, I use nothing but Nationals Emerald Isle. It is the absolute best car rental company out there. If national is not available I use Enterprise, the sister company.

I return to the Orange County airport location each month because of the wonderful service I get from Sheri. Flew to John Wayne airport, no Elite line, didn’t even have a chance to choose and inspect the car. I waited for 40 mins to get a car. When returned, I was accused to have accident (when I knew I didn’t and I drove it basically hotel and office parking lot). A lady (I think the manager) is nice and professional to help me out considering that I didn’t have much time for my flight.

The rental facility being so close to the SNA airport is very convenient. It does require going to a counter to get a vehicle so their is no bypass. There is a smaller vehicle selection than LAX due to the size, but they did have an SUV. The person working at the counter was pleasant and quick at getting us checked out. The vehicle was an Audi and it was nice to drive. The only issue we ran into and why I docked a star was that the Android Auto quick working part way through our trip. The agent response to my message about this was to bring the vehicle in and swap for another. This would have required over an hour of driving time, plus filling up gas before returning, plus going back to the counter and then having to get a new parking pass at the hotel we were staying at when we returned. We chose to use our phones for directions instead. Other than that, the experience was good.

Since national asked for this review, I will comply. I have been a national customer for almost 15 years and overall I am very pleased with their service, selection, and pricing. This one trip to Chicago on 8/22-8/24 is an exception. Upon arrival, I jumped into a particular SUV off the executive aisle, and jumped to another one, realizing it was a better choice. In doing so, I left my sportcoat in the former SUV. I called one and a half hours later and was told they will call me back in 30 minutes. They never did nor did they call the second and following return day. When I returned the vehicle I waited close to 20 minutes to finally be told they don’t have the key to the lost and found. They then recommended I call to customer service. The point being, National does what they routinely do very well, however, when the extraordinary occurs they leave a lot to be desired.
