I am the owner of Mixed Messages Art and thought I would share my feelings about this little building that I have had my business in for the last 9 years and 5 months. I knew from before I even rented it that it was a place that I wanted to be. When I found out that it was built the year I was born, I took that to be an omen that I was meant to “live” there as an artist. A family of 5 were the first inhabitants, then a beauty shop for quite a long while, then a few other businesses, the last one being an insurance company who made some nice improvements to the location. Once I rented it, we cleaned and painted and I opened in October of 2011. The sad thing was that my dad passed away at the end of that month, without ever getting to see it. :( But he was happy to know I was starting the business. It has been the perfect place for my not so traditional art studio/gallery—funky, eclectic, unusual, whimsical, full of good vibes, as well as a lovely group of fellow artists and artisans. I always look forward to going there and working there. This past year has been a difficult one but I’ve learned a lot from it that I believe will help me make the next years better ones. I hope those of you who have not visited, will....and that my loyal colleagues and fabulous customers will continue to visit and shop at “Mixed Messages” Art in Sanger, California. My jewel box, small-town gallery and I both need you and love you. Come visit!

This is my go-to happy place. Kathleen, the artist who owns this little treasure of an art gallery makes the most colorful and whimsical art. It's impossible to be in a bad mood if you are in here. She has occasional themed events too that are always fun. It's a hidden gem tucked away in the parking lot of the Oasis bar. If you're in Sanger, I highly recommend stopping in and watch the artist at work. The items available to purchase range from large original paintings to smaller pieces, prints and greeting cards. She works in all different kinds of media so you'll find watercolors, acrylic paintings, hand sewn items, paper crafts and so much more. She also features the work of 8 or 9 other local artists so you'll also find ceramics, jewelry, wirework, soaps and lotions from Basilwood Farms and local honey.
