I had a pretty good experience with renting a uhaul van in San Ramon. I didn't really need to speak to the front desk but I did notice no one was there. Pick up / drop off was easy except my app froze but a reboot fixed the issue (I've had to reboot other apps on my phone in the past so didn't correlate the issue with their app). The van was slightly dirty but did not prevent me from transporting my stuff. Everything in the van worked as expected. I left my own car parked there until I was done with the van which was very convenient. It was a safe location but hidden. I would definitely rent again here.

Nobody at the store during open hours when I dropped off the van.

Well run by friendly managers, easy and convenient location. I have rented 4 trucks in the past year from this location. They usually have the truck size I want, and trucks are always clean and ready to go with whatever extra equipment I've reserved.I am *not* a fan of UHaul's self check-in system. The concept is great if only it was user-friendly. The system was extremely difficult to navigate even on a brand new, top of the line cellphone (not trying to make a pitch for my phone, just saying difficulty was not due to poor technology on my end). The system kept crashing at the last step, and I ended up searching all over the website to find a live customer service number to request help in order to resolve the issue. The phone rep was patient and helpful and, after it crashed on her 3 times, she was finally able to find a work around but the process still wasn't complete. The personal identification process is over the top and should be clearly laid out at the time of reservation. They require you to upload a copy of a passport, a utility bill showing your address, or provide a name and number of a personal reference. Since I don't usually leave my house with my passport or a utility bill, the only other option was to provide a personal reference whom they called while I held on line. I was picking up the truck at 6 am, and my reference is in another time zone, 3 hours behind. They woke her up at 3 am just to ask her if she knew me.The whole thing made no sense. If I was a dishonest person, I could have simply given a number of a would-be accomplice to "vouch" for me, and it would have provided no assurance I was legit. Rather pointless, and it proved nothing in terms of my intentions for renting the truck or my trustworthiness. If I had known I'd have to spend 40 minutes outside in the cold trying to navigate this whole nonsensical process, I would have gone to another truck rental company even if it meant paying more. That's on the corporation, though. The local dealer, as described, came through on their end by having the truck ready. UHaul seriously needs to reconsider their system for self check-in.

Gregory was fabulous. Pickup was ready as promised. I needed to extend my rental and that was a snap. I'd come here again.

Canceled our reservation right before our move left us scrambling to find another truck. Be prepared to have your truck given to someone else

The store opend late both when I picked up the truck and returned it. 30 minutes late when I returned it. I had ordered dollies on line. However when I got there they had none. They did call another store to help get some but it took my wife an hour to go over there. The trucks are not filled with gas when you get them. So you have to kind of estimate--how do I get to the same level of fullness as when I got the truck?? In my case they said it was 3/4 full and it was only five eights. So, overall, more hassle than you need. Mediocre at best.

DO NOT RENT FROM UHAUL!!! They DO NOT abide by their contract regarding date and location. They told me that this is only a "preference"!! After having a reservation booked for 2 months, and all arrangements made, we were told that a truck may not be available. How the heck do you plan a move when they can't guarantee what their contract states? USE PENSKE!! They will guarantee your truck location and date.

Uhaul apparently now lets you reserve items they don't stock but doesn't tell you until you arrive to pick them up. Avoid.

If I could give them zero stars I would. I called over a week ago to rent a 10’ truck for that Saturday. They told me they did not have one but I could get a 15’ truck in Dublin, which is about 10 miles away. I told them I did not want to pay the extra mileage to pick it up in Dublin and asked it they would have one the following week. They check and told me yes they would so I made the reservation and rearranged my moving date. Then today, the day before I am ready to pick up the truck, I get a call saying they have a reservation for me for a 15’ truck picking up in DUBLIN! Exactly what I told them I did not want the prior week. All they said was we’re sorry, they are first come first served and they would not have a 10’ available in San Ramon. Why do you make reservations if you will not have the truck I reserved at the location I reserved it at! This is BS! Don’t take their word on anything, they are just trying to make a quick buck, by charging you additional mileage to go pick up a truck at a further location!! ADO NOT RENT FEOM THESE FOLKS, YOU WILL BE SORRY!

I would give U-haul of San Ramon and Dublin zero stars if I could, they are the worst outfit to deal with called over a week ago to rent a 10 ft truck for Saturday, they told me they did not have one and only had a 15' that I would have to pick up in Dublin, which would cause me to pay for additional mileage. II asked them if they would have one the following weekend, and they confirmed they would. I made the reservation and rearranged moving plans to deal with the change. The day before I am to pick up the truck the call me and tell me they have a reservation for a 15' truck in Dublin! This is BS, I called and told them I made the reservation and the confirmed they would have a truck, they said were sorry that's all we have! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE FOLKS, WHAT THEY PROMISE IS NOT WHAT YOU WILL GET! They want you to take the larger truck and pay the additional mileage for their profits!
