In the middle of August 2023, I gave Ismar a tough task. After changing a water pump, all belts, tensioners, and more, with another mechanic who said he knew diesel engines, the car would not start. I am no stranger to mechanics as I have a lot of knowledge when it comes to 1960's and 1970's cars and engines, especially Mustangs but not diesels. Unfortunately, the mechanic abandoned me so I brought it to Zuffenhausen on a trailer. Believe me, no mechanic wants a car on a trailer. I was leaving the country in 2 weeks so I asked if he could trouble shoot the problem and make sure the timing was correct because if the timing is too far off on a diesel, bye bye valves. After 3 days, I got a call expecting to hear the valves were bent but to my surprise, they found it was a seal in the fuel pump that ruptured. I would like to thank Ismar and the other mechanic (sorry forgot your name) in the shop for their great work. Well worth the money I spent. I found my diesel mechanics.

Top notch! Great guy, super knowledgable, straightforward, and pleasant. He drives a VW TDI (which we have) and knows them inside and out. Our new goto diesel mechanic!

The Tech quoted a flat rate diagnostic amount, and charges more anyway.also charges an outrageous mark up on parts.

I own a 2008 VW Jetta. The engine light was on and nobody could figure out what was going on. Took it here and he fixed it. He is very knowledgeable and honest! Two things you want in any mechanic! Had another issue with my car and brought it there. I thought it was the transmission but it turned out to be something else and a LOT cheaper then expected. I definitely recommend taking your car here! Honest and reliable work. You know he's not just trying to make a dollar off of you but genuinely wants to help!Services: Engine repair

Ismar is the best mechanic I have ever had. I drive a 1994 diesel imported van that many wrenchmen have shied away from. Ismar not only helped me with basic maintenance, but he has provided super effective cost-friendly ways of making an old van like mine hum like new. Truly one of the smarter more creative mechanics I've ever worked with. Couldn't recommend more.

Oh my gosh I could not recommend Zuffenhausen more highly. Ismar is a gem. We have the oldest lemon of a Jetta on earth, and Ismar has gone above and beyond helping us diagnose it and keeping it running. He is competent, knowledgable, and kind, and is very responsive and up front with whatever is involved. We are very appreciative, and would highly recommend.
