THANK YOU ELI! Eli and Staff went above and beyond, I appreciate their kind and attentive customer support. Toscalito SAN RAFAEL is the best! They were able to accommodate my last minute oil change needs and were very professional and kind. Not only was my oil change expedited, but a full report of mechanical needs was explained to me in a manner to which I can comprehend as I'm not familiar with auto needs, mechanics, etc. I highly recommend visiting Toscalito San Rafael, located across from a friendly Starbucks, just off the 101 highway. Thanks again guys!

This happened a few years back but someone told it would be good to post a review to yelp regarding it, so doing that now. I had a slow leak in my tire and took my car to these guys to fix. They said they would take a look and told me it appeared a nail was in the tire but they'd know more once they go it off. I asked for an oil change as well, and they told me it'd be a two hour wait. Which...seemed a bit long to inspect a tire and change oil, but I chalked it up to them being busy. Two hours pass by and after walking around the Staples and Sprouts next door I came back after getting a call. What started off as a $115 quote for a patched tire and an oil change escalated to $1358 for a total tire change (due to damage to the sidewall), brake replacement, radiator hose replacement, spark plug replacement and fuel system cleaning. They told me that the tire damage was indeed due to a nail and had created damage to the sidewall, making a patch impossible and that I needed a new tire. They didn't show me the damage just told me, which I always take as a red flag with mechanics and tire shops. When I asked that they show me the damage to the tire they spoke of, they refused and wouldn't even take picture of it circled with chalk on their phone (I get that customers can't come back into the work area due to liability). I also asked about the other services and if they could point out why they came to this conclusion. They told me I just "had to trust them". As a woman, I commonly get talked down to and lied to at mechanics, like I don't understand what they are saying. Guess what? I do! Another red flag! After that I decided I would not go through with getting my car serviced at all there beyond an oil change. They kept insisting that they would dispose of the bad tire, and that it couldn't go back on the car in its condition. I get that it's a liability and safety thing to an extent, but they essentially told me I had no other option but to get a new tire from them, period. I asked them to throw the bad tire in the trunk and put on the spare. They still pushed to dispose of the tire, to which I refused and insisted they put it in the trunk. They protested a few more times before agreeing. I could hear them talking about me poorly and laughing that I was asking for the spare and the old tire as they loaded it into the trunk. I ended up getting my car to another shop, Tim's Treads (fantastic!!) and he asked me, "do you have any enemies?". Which confused me until he revealed (showed me right on the tire) that while there had been a nail in the tread (not the sidewall) my tire had also been slashed/stabbed (damaging the sidewall). Now, I don't know if it had been slashed before I went to Toscalito's or after, but the fact they hadn't even mentioned it at all is pretty sus to me. Especially since they mentioned there was sidewall damage... But, this occurred during the lockdown period of the Covid pandemic and my car was tucked back up into a driveway past several other cars at my complex and I had only driven it to the grocery store before the slow leak occurred. So... *shrugs* Anyhow, Tim fixed me up with a new tire at a discount, and was so insanely nice. Would 10000% recommend Tim's Treads instead!!

We've been clients of Toscalito (Terra Linda and San Rafael) for our cars more than 20 years and have always been satisfied. Eli and his crew are so knowledgeable and competent. They also have staff that know Sprinters and RVs. For example, back in July we had a dead chassis battery in our Winnebago Navion RV. During the battery change, they noticed irregular wear on our front tires and suggested an alignment and were able to complete the alignment. Eli suggested we come back in after our trip to get the tires rotated and the alignment rechecked. After our 6 week RV trip, we returned to Toscalito and they completed the tire rotation, verified the alignment, checked the brakes, replaced a very dusty cabin air filter without being asked, recharged the Freon in the ac and installed a new generator exhaust pipe.

**HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE**I was referred to this place through my warranty service who also sent me a link to book an appt. I booked my appt on 8/11 for service on 8/13.I arrived to my appt 30 mins early and was told that there was no appt made for me in their system even though I received multiple emails confirming my appt. The guy I spoke with(bald Asian guy) stated "oh sometimes the online stuff works and sometimes it doesn't" No apology or explanation just straight up told me "well you can bring in another day" in a sucks for you and unapologetic tone. I was so livid I didn't even get his name. Def won't be bringing my car to this place or any of their chains

Called them first thing Sunday 8/20 to see if they could squeeze my daughter in to fix her tire and they politely advised they were pretty busy but they could do it. My daughter dropped off her car just before 9am and she's already headed home before 11. They took the time to check out the situation a d explain things to her and fixed the tire for an affordable price. Highly recommend Toscalito Tire!! Thank you for getting my daughter safely back on the road the day before school starts.

I have been coming here for a while because of the convenient location. But, I have had my issues in the past. They were kind enough to get me in early, but could not complete the job because the alignment machine was not operating. I had to come back the next day and the work was completed. On a prior visit I had brake work done and had to go back when it was not done correctly. I would say go, but be cautious.

I have never felt so confident in car & tire repairs as I do when I go to Toscalito in San Rafael. As a woman, I always assume I will get taken advantage of in this realm of life - but Toscalito is reasonable and fair with me on prices and ALWAYS provides quality results in a timely fashion - even when I didn't have an appointment. For the past few years, Eli, the employee at the front counter, is a solid guy and has always been patient with my questions and addresses all my concerns without mansplaining things to me. I always leave feeling like my car is in better shape!

Verdict is in, they said my tire couldn't be fixed, and said I needed to replace the tire, pref both fronts. I took it somewhere else, they patched it no prob, and good to get another year at least out out tires. Toscalito charged me $25 to put on the lift, and lied to me. C ya, wouldn't wanna be ya!

We have lots of experience with toscalito. They've got stores in Marin and San Francisco. They do most repair work. Rarely we've run into specialized work that they said had to be done at a dealer but we're talking like one time in decades. They're very reliable.

Novato and San Rafael wishy washy brake fluid flush for hybrid. Uniformed unprofessional. Said yes bring it made appointment then they were rude especially Novato location . San Rafael says come in first then we'll see if we can. Waste of time and effort. Novato especially the run around and patronizing
