I stopped in here the other day and am so glad I did! I was looking for a few fleeces and a long-sleeve tech top and found 3 great items for less than cost of 1 item at REI. I was SO glad I stopped by. Great women and men's clothes - I highly recommend!

As a purveyor of quality designer consignment clothing I happened to notice MOTC's rack of clothing outside while frequenting Couture Revival. Who knew this gem existed? I'm blown away at how a small local business could provide such variety? Derek is such a good guy & always so helpful. I'm always looking for sports clothing & surprisingly have bought quite a few great deals including Kuhl. I now include this great spot on my monthly consignment run. Just leave some women's S & M stuff for me. Pro tip, since it's hard to know how much stuff you'll like & how much time you'll need, I suggest parking near the library where there's no meters & only 1.5 short blocks away.

I have ordered numerous items of clothing online; they come and then they are returned because they don't fit, aren't as advertised, etc. I really value being able to shop 'live'. Love the brands --Patagonia, Outdoor Research, Kuhl, etc--in this store. I found a great LIKE NEW Patagonia sweater for much less than the new price. And, I love the idea of 'rehoming' clothing to the next owner. Thanks to this shop for being here! HIghly recommend!

Totally unexpected but a welcome surprise. I just happened to look up fly fishing shops while on a pit stop in Marin and ran across this wonderful place! The owner was there to help and answer all my questions as well as handing out some great insight and a fish tale or two. Can’t say enough good things about this store. A fishy beacon in the north end of Silicon Valley.

The owner is a very sweet and easy going guy and the prices are incredibly reasonable. It was a quieter environment to shop in and I greatly prefer that to the overwhelm and sensory overload of big box stores. No blaring loud music or bright lights! And if you like being outside that's probably your preference, too. :) Highly recommend visiting this shop.

A group of friends and I recently tried surfing for the first time with Marin Outdoor. Had a great experience. Instructors were welcoming, prepared, and encouraging! Would recommend to anyone trying surfing for the first time.

I'm so happy to finally have a fly shop in Marin. This place is great and Derek is super helpful and friendly. He has a wealth of knowledge and can point you in the right direction on piece of water in the area. And he has nice little collection of local flies.

Really helpful staff, maybe he is the owner. I am an inexperienced fly fisher, and he was able to suggest some flys to catch bass and pan fish. First day we caught about 15 pan fish each and the second day landed 2 large bass in under an hour. I will definitely be back when needing some advice and equipment for our next fishing adventure.

If you like name-brand outdoor clothing but not name-brand outdoor clothing prices, Marin Outdoor Trading Company should be on your radar. With a mix of consignment clothing and manufacturer samples, MOTC is a small, local shop with an enticing mix of offerings. Even though the consignment clothing would never count as cheap, every piece appears to be in great shape with no evidence of wear. The sample pieces, still sporting manufacturer tags, also sport a huge discount off their recommended sales price. I picked up a pre-worn, stylish fleece from The North Face for $30 and felt that price was reasonable and returned home to tell my son he should check the place out for the sort of outdoor men's pants he likes. The array of offerings is not dissimilar from what one finds at REI, but on a much smaller scale. There's other outdoor stuff here too - including a proprietor with whom one can engage in for everything fishing related. Despite its size, the store features clothes for all ages and genders as well as outdoor equipment. Whether you've outgrown something or just want something new or gently worn, if you're seeking outdoor clothing and like those name brands, MOTC should be on your radar.

I really like these guys, I fly fish (Tenkara usually) and they were very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Really didn’t know they were there, I was looking for another business. Western is gone, not crazy about Big 5 or REI (member for 50 years) so happy to find these guys.
