We love Pet Food Express stores. This one gets 5 stars for being clean and 1 star for service. Maybe we visited the Northgate one on an off day because, while there were two people standing behind the front counter and my dog and said, "Hi," no one offered to help. I asked whether they had a particular flavor and type of Stella & Chewy meal mixer and was told that the Stella & Chewy things were spread all around one section on the store (with an arm wave to indicate where). We wandered around the whole store, which was very clean and orderly. My dog loved sniffing everything. I wasn't in a rush so it was nice to indulge her. No one else came in and she had a great time. Finally, I went back to the front desk and asked again for the two specific things I needed. The Stella & Chewy one they didn't carry. The other was in another section, which again was indicated with a general arm wave. The dog scale is built into a cabinet, so it was harder to get my girl on it. After 5-6 tries I got her up. Again, very little help even though the cabinet is against the front register area. When I paid for our things, my dog sat and did her best begging. Never has she been in a PFE and not been given attention or treats. They handed me a bag of very yummy samples that they got for Halloween (the day before). They said no dogs came in on Halloween. I can see why.

Kristin from the Benicia store is amazing. my 7 year old chihuahua mix is a very picky eater. she took time with me and helped me find some food to give him and even told me how to introduce the new food to him. I can't thank her enough for taking so much time with me and helped me pup and me feel better. She over and beyond we will be back to that store again for sure

This place has about every type of high quality dog toys, food (kibble & raw), supplements, wash stations, weight scale, you name it. Many of their food products which I normally have to purchase online I can get them here such as Vital Essential freeze dried raw or Icelandic fish skin rolls. Staff has always been helpful and understanding of what works and what doesn't. Their slow cooked items JustFood for Dogs is great. Options such as venison, Lamb, chicken, or Turkey. Highly recommend this product. Overall add this place to your list. Your pet will be much happier about it.

Nice helpful staff but if you're bringing your dog for a bath, don't. Not only has it become expensive, $18, but there isn't any soap. The staff say it's a low suds soap but you cannot smell, feel or see it. I can get plain water anywhere for less than $18. I was at this location in the summer and I could lather up my dog then so it isn't the type of soap. They're just giving you as little as they can to boost profits. Don't waste your money.

Greeted by Ron, who then went through many different brands of cat foots. Explaining different ingredients as well as textures. I'm a first time cat owner and still learning. So it was helpful to speak with him about cat food a he's extremely knowledgeable and adds a lot of value in the conversation. He also shared some light on cat needs for hydration which made me feel like I'm doing things right. He speaks in a helpful kind tone as well as a passion for animal health, it's truly remarkable. Once done I felt confident to continue looking around, naturally buying a cat toy...because the 600 at home will never be enough. Finally I had the pleasure of checking out with Jayden who's equally as passionate and kind. Jayden answered some of my questions about portion control. Then wrapped the conversation up with a wise reminder to always check weight with your vet and be mindful of physical changes. It provided confidence in the conversation.

We just adopted a new rescue pup and our trainer suggested visiting the store on one of our walks to practice socializing. The staff was lovely and helpful. Also a good place to donate leashes and collars for 4-leggeds in need. Highly recommend. We will visit again regularly :--)

I called to inquire if the store had in stock small animal cages. I spoke to a cheerful and helpful person whose name is Alisha. Subsequently, I drove to the store to procure my cages and my first encounter was Alisha!We identified each other as if we were old friends.She was very professional and knowledgeable. Happily, I left the store with my three new carrier cages in hand and a delicious assortment of dog treats.Thank you for my wonderful and very pleasant experience at pet food express. I love this store and the people who work in it. No matter what the situation, they always put my pet's concerns first. In fact, they helped me with a neighbor's dog. I mean really helped me to get the dog a proper harness, food and treats, as my neighbor was using a choke chain and feeding with human food. Thank you so much.
