I loved James Rose Salon for one reason: Elisa. She is attentive, professional and excellent at what she does. She is great with all types of hair, especially curly. Elisa recently moved 2 blocks away to her very own space: Elisa Marie Studio in the Sola building on Lootens.

Barbara has been my stylist for 15+ years. She's fantastic and I trust her implicitly. Barbara is a perfectionist and only hires, trains and retains talented stylists. She and her team are frequently getting continuing education and are all great! Oh and no drama, everyone is a joy to be around.

Jenny saved my life lol. She did an amazing job at transforming my hair. Went two years without a haircut and she was so kind, patient, attentive to any adjustments I wanted to make. Walked out feeling like a brand new person. Thank you so much Jenny!!!

Elisa Just Knows. I am not one to primp and style and spend ages getting ready, and so when I put myself in Elisa's hands what she does is not only give me fantastic hair but use discretion and an eye for detail, style, And practicality to let me KEEP the look; ("let's not layer above the chin-line as you'll want to tuck it behind your ears"). This woman has fast and adept hands, a grounded and warm chair-side manner and a finger on the pulse of la mode du jour. I am so grateful for her helping me feel my best yesterday with the layered cut she gave me!

Elsie did an awesome job for my wedding reception. It's the only time I haven't immediately washed my hair the second after getting home after getting my hair done for an event. She did a good mix between getting it to hold its shape without using a ridiculous amount of spray / product. She was also super quick (I was early to my wedding!)

I began going to the James Rose Salon during the 2020 COVID19 pandemic. The owner of the James Rose Salon, Barbara, gave me a GREAT haircut. I had not had a hair cut for nine months and I was a shaggy mess. I have returned twice since my initial haircut and each cut is also great, and, if it's even possible, seems to be getting better as she gets to know me and my hair. This is a full service salon, however, what I need is a good hair cutter. Instead I found a truly GREAT one. I highly recommend the James Rose Salon, and Barbara in particular.

Elsie rules! When I moved to Marin, I went fumbling my way through salons and stylists. I've got super thick, wavy hair and no one could quite figure out how to get the cut or color right (let alone both). I was getting discouraged when I happened upon James Rose Salon and Elsie Baroni has proven herself a miracle worker. Not only has she given me beautiful cuts (I've grown my hair out for the first time ever, nearly all the way down my back, because she somehow manages to keep it big and bouncy and not too heavy on top) and her color is *truly* top notch. Check the James Rose Instagram account if you want to see her work - I'll regret when it gets even harder to get on her calendar, but would love for someone else on the same search for a stylist this talented to be spared the grizzly bumps along the way that I went through, and perch in Elsie's chair instead.

Barbara is fabulous. She has been my stylist for over 22 years. And I come all the way up from San Francisco to have her do my hair. And, it is always a pleasure to see her. As many stars as there are ( I guess 5 out of 5)— I give to her and her salon!

I was so fortunate to have been given a referral to go to this tiny well-kept Sunny Salon! The hair specialist that I have is a great listener and very patient, which is difficult for anyone dealing with me and my hair! Maria is by far more than just a hair colorist and stylist. She is a partner in The Adventures of what happens to hair at a certain age and knows how to support and make me feel beautiful! This she is better than any therapy!

Went in to get a balayage but then came out getting highlights. You have to be very specific with what you are asking or else you won't get it. I paid $200+ and it not what i asked for. I showed pictures yet didn't get it. I got more yellow strips near the front of my face and almost no color at the back or bottom of my hair. It is more like two strips of blonde then no color at the back, one strip is brighter than the other and it looks like a mess. With further inspection, i noticed that the hair cut she gave me is very uneven. Hospitality is amazing but the service it self was not ok. would give it a 2/5 im sorry but If only I knew who i was hiring to do my hair i would've picked someone else or somewhere else. But ive never felt so ashamed to walk around with my two yellow strip of hair.

Elisa at James Rose Salon is a hair whisperer! I found her a couple of months ago, and I am so happy! I was searching for someone who would just know what to do with my short hair, and she has worked her magic every time. Happiness truly is a great haircut! Thanks Elisa!

Maria was so kind and helpful making sure I got the cut I wanted. I showed her a picture and she explained how styled it was and that she could give me the cut but without stying it wouldn't look the same. She even took time to show me how to style it. It turned out great. Thanks Maria!!!

I love this place and Elsie is fantastic. I've gone to her for awhile now and I highly recommend. I called today to ask for an appointment fully expecting it would take a week or more to get in but they got me in within two days! Thanks guys!

I was looking for a new salon to get my hair done at and after reading the reviews on yelp i made an appointment with Teala. She was very kind and helped me decide on the style of hair! I have really thick hair and somehow Teala tamed it and made my hair look amazing!
