Mr. Gonzales greeted my mother and I right away. I explained my mothers situation. He expedited the necessary documentations and put them all in a folder. Very professional and understanding.

What kind of bank doesn't cash checks that are from that bank?! They said it's too much for their system? It's f**** 2023 people. Not to mention waiting 30 mins to find that out. Citi bank is the worsttttttttt, I should've listened to the other 10,000 bad reviews but I thought I'd give them a shot, oh how stupid I am

Avoid at all costs! Sued them once and won. Suing them again, they won't return $821.25, that they owe me!Never been treated worse.

Unhelpful staff, understaffed and rude. 1 banker for a line of 8 people and half left without any assistance from the clerk.

I concur with the low number of overall stars. Most inefficient banking experience of my life. The banker was nice enough but wasted an hour of my time being UNABLE to assist me. Then I wasted another 3 hours NOT BEING ABLE TO BE HELPED. I'm simply attempting to get my debt moved from Citibank's outrageous 26% interest rate and can't do so because I don't have the credit card with me because i don't freaking use it...I'm disgusted by the sheer ineptitude I've encountered. Will tell everyone I know what a horrific experience I've had. And I STILL haven't been assisted.

Stay away from this bank! I recently went to close my account after writing a check for the balance that was in my account and which I deposited in another financial institution. When I saw online that the check had cleared both in my new bank and with Citi, I went into Citi and at the direction and advice of a teller closed the account. A number of days later I received a letter from my new bank saying that my Citi account was frozen and they could not deposit my check after all. Citi is saying it won't write me a check for another 30 or 60 days! This is flat out robbery!!

I've visited this location a few times in the past and did not have the best experience. However, I recently met Gabriel Ortiz, and Gabriel is AWESOME! Gabriel first helped me resolve via email and a phone call some issues I had for many months, such as connecting my Citibank accounts, and with a relatively short amount of time. Gabriel then met with me in person to resolve the continunig issues with so much patience and professionalism, I was really grateful. This location still has aspects that could be improved, but I am very impressed by and thankful for Gabriel's professionalism, knowledge and ability to resolve issues.

I do not know the name of the individual that helped? me today but they were not interested, at all, in being distracted from their personal texting. They dialed their 800 number for me and went back to texting while I was on the phone. This was in person.

They don't answer the phone. Ever. They don't have an active Notary even though Citi customers are eligible for this service. My assigned banker (from a different office) checked in on San Rafael for me, and was told that "the branch manager let her Notary license lapse and she's in the process of renewing it." Does this sound like a responsible manager to you? When you visit in person, be prepared to get the runaround. I recently visited to update my business account and was told I would need to find a different branch, like one in San Francisco, because they "don't have time to do that here in San Rafael."

A client of mine banks at Citibank. She wrote me a check and when I went to Citibank to cash it, they refused to cash it for me, saying that because I don't have an account with Citi that I cannot cash the check. Basically, this comes down to two things: 1) They do not honor their clients' checks because they wouldn't cash it for me. In essence telling me my client's check is no good. 2) They are forcing me to open an account (I refused) in order to cash a check that is from one of their clients. Mind you, I have a Citibank Visa card. And they still would not cash the check. After reading all of the negative reviews here, why would I ever open up an account with Citibank? The teller informed me that I need to go to the SF California Street branch in order to cash my check since I am not willing to open an account with their bank. That is the only branch besides the one in Richmond that will cash it for me. I am livid that I need to take the time out of my day to go into the Financial district, find parking, and walk to to bank to cash a check. This is so inconvenient for me. However, I must. I plan to do that tomorrow AND speak with the manager there, informing him/her that I WILL NO LONGER ACCEPT CITIBANK CHECKS from my clients that I am not able to cash at THEIR bank. (without having an account there as well.)

i have been trying to close my account for almost a year , they post charges after i request the account closure and then tell me to pay the fees before they will close it and then it starts all over again , please save yourself the misery and stay away from this bank !

Not sure what all the fuss is about? It's a bank. They were professional, fast clip in line, and it's a good location. Good parking and access. Not sure what's up with the horrible reviews.

I disagree with many of these reviews. I have always received courteous customer service at the San Rafael branch. Today it was actually excellent! I was greeted at the door, asked what I was there for and directed to a teller. Everything was great! I also overheard a customer with a hearing disability make a suggestion regarding tellers wearing clear masks to be able to read lips and her suggestion was very well received and she was reassured that her suggestion was a good one and will be shared with management.
