Genuinely the nicest, most competent, most honest mechanic in the Bay Area. He solved a problem in six hours on my old E28 that took another mechanic six months of trying and failing to solve. And as a woman, it means a lot that he treats me with the same honesty and respect as he would a man. I’m seriously in the process of buying another vintage BMW to replace my current car because I’m tired of dealing with other mechanics who load up the parts cannon instead of doing proper diagnosis, as Bill does.

Stopped by with my 335D due to an airbag light that the body shop said wouldn't clear. Bill had if figured out in about 30 seconds. Will be back!

There is no better place in Marin County to go for your BMW than Bill Arnold’s shop. Bill has been repairing cars for decades and his mind is like an automobile encyclopedia. He is also extremely kind, honest, and generous with his time, even though he is always extremely busy. It is no wonder that so many people get their repairs done with Bill. I probably shouldn’t even say that, because I don’t want Bill to get even busier. But I also want to send a big shout out to this man and his shop.

Bill is the reason I still drive BMWs. He is fair, knowledgeable, never ever sells you stuff you don’t need. Stands behind his work. Great guy, great work. I drive from the East Bay to take him my cars.

I've gone to Bill for many years as BMW s need to be cared for and he is the right person for the job...My recent 128i is getting the piece by piece needs done to the effect that it will be my driver far into the future...Just go there if you want honest results for your money...

I've been taking my 2006 3-series to Bill since it dropped out of warranty and will keep taking it to him until one of us throws in the towel (likely will NOT be the car that retires first). Bill has an encyclopedic knowledge of all things BMW, and is clear and up front on pricing and options when something major needs to be done. I trust him implicitly with my vehicle.

Bill is amazing, he solved a problem in six hours on my 1987 BMW 535i that took a lesser mechanic six months to work on. Not only that, he was extremely honest, transparent, and communicative. As a trans woman, it's hard to find a mechanic that will treat me with respect: Bill is absolutely respectful and kind. LGBT people: you can count on honesty and respect at this shop. I think I've found my go-to mechanic in the Bay Area.

THE independent BMW repair person in Marin. When I had a breakdown of my 2003 530I this past summer, which turned out to be a cooling system problem with various leaks, the shop I had my car towed into (Bill was booked solid at that point) couldn't fully solve the problem of what caused the actual system breakdown (instant overheat). It wasn't the thermostat, the usual culprit on BMW's of that vintage. So they turned to Bill Arnold for advise . Then the problem was fully diagnosed and fixed for good. No negative marks for the place I had it towed, they did fix the problem, but not without some hiccups before they contacted BIll.Of course I then did my next repair (typical E39 vintage oil leaks) directly with Bill himself. The guy simply knows his stuff , he's a BMW enthusiast, has raced BMW's for years, and other racers come to him for repairs. Plus he has reasonable rates for the area, and is just a pleasure to deal with. Wish I had known about him back when my old 530i was a newer car, or when I had my 4 previous BMWs. Not too late, we still enjoy our almost 20 year old car, which only has 132K and has newer struts, tires, so here's hoping Bill keeps working at it.

Bill is a very nice guy and the customer service is great at this shop. Unfortunately, the repair prices are high compared to other shops. Maybe Bill is used to people who live in Marin and don't really care how much they pay? For a humble little shop it would be a good idea to charge more reasonable prices as that would create incentive for customers to come back. At this point, I'm definitely not planning to come back as I could just have the dealer do the repairs for virtually the same price.

I love his shop. I only come to him for anything BMW. Mr. Bill is amazingly awesome. He's a true God send. I so appreciate him and all that he does. He's a true angel. I'm so grateful that Tim from San Rafael BMW referred me to him. I haven't left since my first trip. He is my automatic go to. Soon as any service lights come on I call AAA and set up a trip to see Mr. Bill and he never fails me. Thank you

Thank you Mr Arnold for scheduling me on such short notice!! You did a great job diagnosing my engine light and solving the problem! So glad I found my new “go-to bmw mechanic” in Marin. What a relief. Best, 2006 325i.Service: Electrical repair
