Needed some gun solvent and was able to find what i needed. Selection was good but was hoping to find more of a larger selection. The store itself had a large inventory and the staff were friendly.

I always find what I need here: shoes, socks, ankle braces, work out gear and kiddie pools. Got a great price on trekking poles and a raincoat. No sales pressure and friendly service. And it's my neighborhood store. ?

I felt discriminated against. As soon as my kids and I walked in, they were watching us following us around the store. An employee snatched an item from my 4 year old's hand snapping at her asking if she planned to purchase the item it would be at the register. We bought a ball for my son and some other items total was $75, the stitching on the ball was torn so we turned around seconds after buying it to exchange the ball receipt in hand the cashier that rang us up present as was the cashier that we showed are receipt to for the exchange was present when we purchased it MINUTES before he examined the receipt and dragged his feet about doing the exchange asking us 20 questions and when I pointed out that we just bought the ball with the cashier next to him IN FRONT OF HIM MIND YOU, he asked the other cashier if we in fact bought the ball from there and she hesitated saying ummm I think so. It was so aggravating because it seemed that because we were Hispanic we were being mistreated. Caucasian children were running around the store carefree while we received unfriendly employees who were very unwelcoming.

We came in to big five to prepare for the giant storm-for the snow. Everyone working there was so helpful and friendly. They were all Kind humans and we found all the perfect things plus things we didn't even know we needed. Thank you so much. Every retail store should thrive to have such a kind, welcoming and helpful crew. Give them a raise!

Bought shoes in 20 minutes. The staff was helpful and friendly. They are quick to help you but aren't too knowledgeable about the difference between some of the selections. Cashiers are bored and indifferent..

So I went the first time and this super nice cashier (with long hair) was so awesome that I gave him my email to sign me up, which I don’t normally do.Got an email two days later, and there was an item on one day sale. I also had my $5 off that I got in the mail. Went early, and the cashier was this white woman with fake nails that were too long to ring the keys of the register. I sat there for a much longer time to pay because of her nails!! No hello, nothing! I don’t think she looked at me once during the whole transaction.. she finally located the label.. then I put the $5off coupon on the table next to her, right under her eyes!! She said ‘can’t take two coupons’ still looking for at the register.. I said what two coupons?! She said ‘I scanned a coupon to give you the special’.. having had enough of watching her nails cluck and watching her move her hands Luke they’re burnt, I decided to leave the store, leave the coupon and never return there again!

I was in the neighborhood and popped in, hoping to find a pair of Bear Paw Slippers for ladies. As well as some ladies crew socks. Initially I couldn't find them amongst all the clutter and crap. I asked an associate for help. Initially she had no idea where either of these items were. I asked would she mind asking her associate for these two items. She came back and directed me to 2 pair of socks, that you needed glasses to identify if they were ladies or not. I said, what about the slippers. She directed me to slipper type socks. Sad she didn't know what "slippers" were. I said please ask again, at which point I guess the manager piped in and said "they are over there". Puzzled I said, where is "over there". So he walked over to show me where the slippers were. I said some are priced, some are not, is that the price. His reply, I don't know, we just set this up today. Then he walked away. I said, might be helpful to train the young lady. He said this is her 3rd day. O.K., would have been nice to know. Then the manager said, I never know who's going to show up and all my staff have only been here 3 days. I have inventory tomorrow and it's not going to be good. No it wouldn't, by the condition of the store, it was filthy. Tons of merchandise still on pallets. Shame on Big 5 for not training their staff properly !!!! I feel a bit sorry for this guy and his staff. Clearly he does not get the support he needs from his District Manager and Big 5 Corporation. Sadly, this has been my experience in every Big 5 I go into. This might be my last straw for visiting ANY Big 5.
