There are few things I dread more than having to walk into a post office, except maybe the DMV. I would literally look for every alternative before sucking it up and braving the lifeless, cranky, slow, sad walls of a post office. But then we moved to the Bay Area 5 years ago and just happened to land walking distance to this tiny little gem! Cendon (the post master) is hands down one of the greatest guys you'll ever come in contact with, and his post office runs like a dream. It feels like family when I go in, and truth be told, I LOVE my daily visits! I will one day have to leave this place and I'll miss everything about my post office. It is absolutely one of my favorite things about my time living here.

The best little hidden gem of a post office. Stellar customer service with a small town feel in a cozy little neighborhood, even though Marin County isn't small. It just reminds me of a little town like Brunswick, Maine. It gives one such joy walking in with Postmaster Cendon greeting you with a huge smile, makes one want to skip outta here with so much happiness without a care in the world 'til you receive those medical bills or any kind of bill after checking your box LOL. What other post office have you been to that makes you feel such bliss - not really a question. Cendon is da man, and he makes this place magical. He should be awarded Employee of the Year! San Quentin's post office deserves more reviews for their great service. I know it's unusual for a post office which is why I wanted to take the time to write them a review. I had to mail a package and the man behind the counter was nice, fast, and helpful. The whole transaction only took about five minutes with only one person in front of me. It is a teeny tiny post office tucked at the end of Main Street in San Quentin Village just before the East gate entrance to the prison. Parking is pretty scarce since it is in a residential area. They have their own zip code: 94964 posted on the front of their building and a mailbox right out front.

Location was easy to use. You park by the gate to the prison. My express mail got to NYC the next day like it was supposed to. Nice selection of stamps and friendly staff. Tiny Post Office and I have never seen another customer here. It's at a dead end street, well, unless you are proceeding into the prison through the gate.

What Post Office in the United States would you want to give five stars to? I mean, what Post Office would you even take the time to review?? Every Post Office I've ever been to has lightweight DMV vibes. Grumpy and frustrated postal workers trudging through their day, bothered by your inane questions about stamp costs and mailer size. No one wants to be there, including and especially the employees. Then there's the Post Office in San Quentin, CA 94964. And it's the happiest Post Office on earth. Why? I'll tell you why. It's all about the Post Master. Cendon, Cendon, Cendon! He is sunshine on a cloudy day. Full of life and laughter, he makes everyone smile. He knows your name and P.O. Box. And he's always happy to see you, crack a joke and mail your package clear across the country. Truly a pleasure to have the experience of a small town Post Office in a big city. Thank you Cendon for brightening up a dark world with your radiant positivity. Keep on rockin' in the free world. We appreciate you more than you know.
