The younger guy who works there is super accommodating. The old dude? (Chris, probably?)... not so much. I had a really great experience here with my Prius during a previous issue, and when it started "knocking" with the engine light on right around the corner, Jim's was my first choice to take my car. I explained what was happening (once the grumpy guy behind the desk decided to notice I was there) and he told me to "make an appointment". It really wasn't a good idea to continue driving the car. Like, I get it if you are busy. Say you are "busy", but don't patronize a potential local (returning) customer. Ended up taking my car to the Toy Shop in Lomita.

I had a chance to go by Japanese Auto service yesterday or Jim's car service as it's listed on their business card... I was a little bit worried that no one answered the phone when I called. But the owner Jim called me back and scheduled the appointment for my 2012 Toyota Camry. I was having an issue with the seat belt and the airbag light flashing all the time. Jim told me he thought he could fix the problem he said, if he couldn't fix it he wouldn't charge me anything. That sounded Fair but it also left me on the hook for whatever he wanted if he did fix it. All said and done when I came back the next day and the rate was only 1 hours labor. I was very happy. He also did a safety inspection and make sure that everything else was working okay and who test drove the vehicle twice which was very very nice.. the scale of 1 to 10 I guess I give these guys at 10 plus very happy with the overall service thank you Jim and the fellas over there... Just want to let all you yelpers know you can trust this guy because you could have charged more but he didn't and he could have tried to do more but he didn't he did just what we asked him to do...

So good! Great quality work on changing the coils of my generation 2 Toyota Prius. I'm so lucky to have found this place and I drive here all the way from Venice Beach because it's the most trustworthy service I can find. Thanks Jim!!

We just can't believe the two truly virulent criticisms. We know many customers of Jim and in total for Japanese vehicles he and his guys are truly outstanding. He is personable, communicative, and does quality work in all regards. We were recommended to him by a Lexus owner friend and our experiences with 2 different model Lexus has been service of quality for a fair price. We truly believe the two negative criticisms are so negative that the persons doing them must have another motive.

We bring all 4 of our Toyota's here and always receive great service. Honest, knowledgeable and fair prices. We have a sienna, tundra and Prius and it's our one stop shop for all service.

These guys are thieves. They ripped me off too, broke more than they fixed, overcharged me (they have a 225% markup on parts!). They refused, lied, and denied all responsibility to not stand behind their shoddy work. Even more fun was listening to their tantrums and tirades via a whole gamut of mansplaining and bullying, then threw in their clearly well rehearsed pivot & spin, smoke & mirrors excuse of: "we've been [ripping people off] for 30 years". Listen up Yelp friends: avoid these guys like the plague.
