“This vet has consistently performed above and beyond - hearing from fellow pet parents about the trials and tribulations of finding the right vet makes me so grateful to have found this VCA. I've moved around quite a bit with my two pups, and have been to multiple vets across different states, and this place remains #1 for us!
They are always transparent about price (and never make me feel guilty if I decline a particular test or service), don't push unnecessary work (if anything, it's the opposite - I'm always wondering if I should be doing more), and approach the care of your beloved family with empathy, compassion, and levelheadedness.
Dr. Evans has performed a number of surgeries that went seamlessly, and he even communicated with me mid-teeth cleaning (the dog, not me!) about additional tooth removal to make sure I was comfortable with both the tooth removal and pricing. Dr. Beck in particular recently saw me through the end of one of my dog's lives, and I couldn't be more grateful to her for making me feel like we truly did everything we could in a terrible situation.
Anyway - these folks are absolute pros, and I'm shocked they have room for new clients considering how top notch they are.”
“The staff at Thornhill pet hospital is the best!! Theres something really special about this place. Dr.Yang and Alicia, take great pride in the work that they do. They keep me informed of the care they give to my dogs, and i totally trust their judgement and decisions. They strangely have a special connection with the animals, which makes their care that much better. Ive taken all my dogs to Thornhill pet hospital and wouldnt even consider any other veterinarian.”
“Dr Judd has has performed three ACL surgeries on my dogs and has taken wonderful care of my two pups!! My dog Harry recently had a few fractured teeth and they made a real effort to get him in quickly and we were able to sort it out quickly and at a reasonable cost. They were rock stars! I also really enjoy all there staff, they were wonderful!”
“Codornices offers terrific veterinary practitioners. I have had the pleasure of taking both my dogs to Codornices for many years. I have had the good fortune of seeing Dr. Gurley, Dr. Grant, and Dr. Lie. All are kind, caring, and terrifically knowledgeable. I cannot recommend this clinic highly enough.”

12226 San Pablo Ave, Richmond“I had two of my French Bulldogs spayed at AFC on 4/8/2024. To say the least, I was very nervous as brachiocephalic breeds, run a higher chance of complications with and from anesthesia. Because of this, most low cost spay/neuter clinics, including local shelters will not accept Frenchies or other brachiocephalic breeds. However, not only did AFC accept my girls, Dr. Goh and her team took EXCEPTIONAL care of both of them! The organization of the entire clinic is stellar, from scheduling (only done online around mid month, so may be a bit of a wait to get an appointment), to drop off and pick up! One of my girls, Paris, bounced right back to normal within 5-6 hrs after picking her up,(I believe a bit too soon), because of this, I was worried about my other girl, London, who took almost 2 days to start acting like herself again. Needless to say, Dr. Goh was absolutely caring, responsive and patient with my after hour concerns. I would like to mention that AFC is a nonprofit clinic who is accepting donations and also has a GoFundMe to help sponsor the move to their new location. If you are local to this wonderful organization, they can also use old newspapers and other types of donations.”

1807 Martin Luther King Jr Way, Berkeley“Caring, compassionate knowledgeable care Is what we have consistently received over the past 12 years. They were with us for the entirety of my labs 12 years from his first shots till being put to rest last August after cancer. They continue to care for our four-year old maltipoo, and our recently rescued one year-old pitbull. we are grateful to have such a strong team there for us when needed.”

4814 Broadway, Oakland“We've been coming to Petvet since our first dog years ago. The clinic itself is still just as awesome and affordable. Definitely expect to wait as it's first come, first serve, but the vaccination line moves pretty fast. Exams line takes a bit more time. Today specifically Annette was great getting our pets vaccinated even with our antsy ones.
As far as the pet store section, it's also super helpful especially when it comes to finding quality and/or hard to find pet products. So many products to choose from and hard to resist especially when my daughter visits with me.”

5331 College Ave, Oakland“My kitty, Calypso, always had wonderful care with everyone at Claremont. The front desk staff is efficient and pleasant. The techs are caring and gracious. The doctors who saw Calypso, Leggeri and McDonald, are informative, thorough and communicative. However, my most recent need was euthanizing my dear sweet friend. It followed a month of exploration into what was wrong, referring me to an outside vet for confirmation and discussion so that I was able to make the decision to go the palliative care/end of life route that was best for Calypso. When the time came to let Calypso go, the Claremont front desk was so kind. The tech was so gentle. Dr. McDonald was professional yet understanding, tender and compassionate, letting me know exactly what she was about to do on each step. The empathy from all was not sappy but distinct. I was given as much private time with Calypso as I needed during the various stages of the process. It was awful to lose my beloved sweetheart but I couldn't have asked for a better team to help me help Calypso move onto her next journey. From the bottom of my heart, I cannot thank you all enough.”
“Pet Vet is an awesome resource and I recommend it to anyone in the area with pets. I first started shopping here because the flea meds were cheaper than at my vet's. There's a great selection of food and supplies (some hard to find) and you can get a lot of normally "prescription only" items. Some require a clinic visit but others like sub-q bags are easily available.”
“This vet is our go-to! Whenever I go here I know my pup is in good hands. Dr. Wehren is extremely attentive, kind and knowledgeable. She answers all of my questions and I really trust her recommendations. My rescue pup is shy but this office goes above and beyond to make sure she's comfortable. The vet techs are superb and I've always had an A+ experience with them - Dawn, Ryan and Adris to highlight a few :) Mocha and I highly recommend this vet”
“Have been our clan’s go-to clinic for the past 3 yrs! Started with my first baby and now all 4 of them ????
Appreciate the admin team for always supporting us with appointments and paperwork alike.
Have seen different vets at the practice, but just after 1 recent appointment, we know we love Dr. Orellana! Moving forward, we hope to continue our appointments with her ✨
Last but not least, Quincee has been awesome with send-offs ? thank you so much for always loving and caring my babies!
— Yumi
P.S. The fact that they take Trupanion direct payment assures my mind for major illnesses and emergencies during weekdays. For weekends, the emergency hospital with Trupanion direct is in Concord.”
“They were responsive and helpful but slow. Like I was having an emergency and needed their help. They didn’t see to care much and told me to look for a different place.”
“This review is for Amy Pierre who practices acupressure at All Paws. I have known Amy for almost one year and she has worked her magic on my senior dog many times. She is professional, personable and has a special connection with animals as well as an ability to translate what the dog is experiencing to the guardian in lay terms--much appreciated for my unscientific mind. My dog definitely considers her to be one of his best friends and goes bonkers when he sees her. That's a sure sign that she's doing something right!”
“I am so thankful to have found this rehab clinic. All of the doctors, techs and even front desk staff are so kind, caring and helpful. My dog has had a long road to recovery and I couldn't have survived the journey with all the help and support. I highly recommend!”
“My dogs and cats have been patients of Codornices for several decades, starting with Dr. Richard Hack. We now see Drs. Erica Gurley, David Grant and Regina Yoo. They take care of and give advice on the various veterinary issues that have come up as if my fur babies were their own, I trust them implicitly. They have referred me out to specialists when needed but they do as much as they can in house. I'm very grateful for the docs and supports folk at Codornices.”
“I've been bringing my Kitties to VCA Broadway Pet Hospital for many years and the Doctors and Staff are extremely nice, and truly care for your pets as if they were their own. I've always trusted them with my "Fur Babies", they are compassionate and very knowledgeable. I lost both my Kitties to Cancer recently.... if in the future I decide to fill my house with these cute Bundles of "Fur" that bring so much joy, I always go back to VCA BPH. They are like Family to me! I highly recommend them, they are caring and compassionate.”
“My dog was wounded. I got an appointment that morning. Vet tech was kind and gentle. Doctor cleaned and examined her wound. She was thorough and caring. I saw 4 other dogs come in that morning. People and animals were all calm, unafraid. The best experience I've had at a veterinarian. Doggy is back to her old self in 12 hours. This is my new vet!”
“My dog had ten teeth extracted during a dental cleaning. Dr. Bowyer and KVH staff/techs communicated timely and clearly throughout. Dr. Bowyer explained what was found during the exam and x-ray, the surgery to be performed, and the care my dog would need in the 7-10 days following. Staff/techs reviewed with me in detail the meds, food prep, and what to expect post surgery. The printed material I was sent home with was helpful and clear.
KVH is a top notch veterinary clinic.”
“I’m very pleased with the great care my miniature poodle has received. Dr. Yamakazi is very knowledgeable and Bobby is doing much better. Ashley also is very detailed and helpful in assisting in care and reviewing and emailing my instructions. Great job Oakland D4As!”
“Nice place. Professional people. Great techs. Appointments taken on time. Got dental surgery for my guy on quite a short notice. Was afraid he could not be seen due to a lack of recent vaccines, and records since he had only been to moving clinics and a cheaper unreliable vet, but it was no issue! He’s a bit difficult and still handled him great. Definitely the vet we will be sticking with. More on the pricey side but nothing you wouldn’t expect from a good vet.”

1048 University Ave, Berkeley“I've had to bring my 9 pound small dog here three times for emergency situations, and one time for surgery to repair her torn CCL - Cranial Cruciate Ligament (basically like a human ACL).
Every time I've brought her in for emergency situations, the staff has responded with care and relatively quick attention.
When I brought her in for a CCL surgery consult and then the actual surgery, requiring an overnight stay, I am going to go out on a limb and guess I was as anxious about it as my dog was. In advance of the surgery, Dr. Meltzer and staff did a fantastic job explaining the surgery to me - she spent an hour with me to talk through everything. I had gotten two surgical consults elsewhere and ended up going with Dr. Meltzer for a variety of reasons. I'm really glad I did. The surgery was ten weeks ago and my dog's leg is almost good as new. I highly recommend Dr. Meltzer for small dog surgery.
The only downside to PETS is that I found them to be a bit loose with the appointment times. I typically waited 10-15 minutes after my appointment time to be seen. So perhaps go in expecting to wait a bit past your appointment time.”
“Staff were friendly and Dr. Draeger really took time to listen to all of my concerns and questions. A little pricey for what ended up just being a well visit but I feel it was worth it because the doctor was really thorough and attentive, and gave great guidance for my new kitten.”
“We've consistently had a great experience with all of the staff, vet techs and veterinarians at Berkeley Dog and Cat Hospital. They've taken great care of our dog who has a rare and serious bleeding condition, both in the acute emergency as well as outpatient settings. For primary care we currently see Dr. Sirkis, who is great. Even though our dog's condition is very rare, she takes the time to research questions we have to give us an informed response.”
“I brought my pet here and the experience was pretty great all around. Every time I've looked at scheduling an appointment I can usually find one about 10 days to 2 weeks out. Plus, some of their vets do hours that help for a 9-5 job. The vet tech was very nice and the vet listened to our concerns and offered reasonable paths forward to explore for treatment for our pet. May not be ideal if you have a pet emergency but if you are going for routine checkups or less urgent concerns it was a great option.”
“My cat got into a bad fight and needed to be seen urgently. Emeryville Vet Hospital was able to accommodate us and the kindness and professionalism that they demonstrated while taking care of Mittens was wonderful ❤️. Thanks!!”
“Affordable vet! I’ve been here twice. The first visit is when my cat had a fever. The second visit is a year later when my second cat began to have breathing problems. I usually go to a different vet for their yearly shots, but this is my second option. They were extremely helpful both times and my cats recovered each visit. The receptionist ladies are quick answer the phone and are accommodating when scheduling an appointment. The vet workers in the back know what they are doing and are kind. I didn’t spend over $500 for both of the visits, and my kitties recovered days later!”
