I have been an occasional customer of the Wells Fargo Bank branch in downtown San Mateo for years. My experiences here have always been great. Located on 4th Avenue, the bank is one of few establishments in the area with its own parking lot. At times, the lot can be at full capacity, forcing customers to either idly wait for a space to free up or to park at a nearby public lot and walk a short distance. The branch offers an ATM machine at the front entrance and a few more at the rear of the building, facing the parking lot. Inside, the spacious and clean venue provides seating in the lobby area, new accounts section, and nearby the back entrance. Service is typically quick and smooth, even if you fall into a long queue. During my most recent visit on the afternoon of Tuesday, December 12, 2023, the tellers were very friendly and served customers with warmth and smiles. I was so impressed that I was compelled to ask to speak to the Manager on Duty to provide my positive experience, sharing my observations of client support from individuals who appeared to prioritize customer care with enjoyment. The Manager thanked me for the accolades given and agreed that the hard-working tellers deserved the recognition. Banking can feel like a tedious chore. Thank you, Wells Fargo Downtown San Mateo, for demonstrating that a trip to the bank doesn't need to be dreary nor unenjoyable.

Centrally located, with limited parking lot. Street parking is hit or miss. Staff here are patient and very friendly. Decent neighborhood that prevents the typical tweakers that you might have to deal with that other branches in the area. There are two ATMs at this location. Aviento 5 estrellas.

Haven't gotten my call back yet, requested new $1.00 bills, was promise a call Friday or Monday , not call yet

Phoned in twice, heard someone pick up first time while talking to coworker then hung up. Called back a second time and they picked up then immediately hung up. For a bank with as bad a history as theirs you'd think there'd be better customer service.

They take your cash but wont let customers use the restroom. Bank elsewhere! Ridiculous.

I've only been here to use the ATM. Only one ATM at the main entrance which is the one that is used a lot because it's more convenient instead of going to the back where they have 4 more ATMs with parking available.

Normally I avoid going to banks in general because I get antsy waiting in line especially when my kids are with me. However today I went in, I was the only one in line & the teller Joseph Olivares helped me out, he was very kind, genuine & helpful. I was in & out very fast.

Now there are long lines at the ATM machines, they removed 2 of then and never replaced them. Is this a sign of things to come? Should we be worried?

I guess I was here late at night. They had an ATM and it worked. I won't go into the business practices of a bank (I'm not that qualified). It was convenient at the time, and that there is nothing else to it.

They said waiter for a banker. 15 mins waiting no one acknowledged me or checked in. This bank has terrible service
