I have been going to Mohammed for the past year or so. He has worked on both my Japanese cars, a Mazda CX-9 SUV and a Honda Accord. His quality of work is top-notch and his prices are very reasonable.
As a person who is fairly mechanically inclined, and who can do his own car jobs if needed, what I like about working with him is that he’s very transparent about everything.
You can watch him do the job, if you choose to, but even if you don’t, he will be very clear about what the issues are, what parts need to be changed and is very reasonable about the labor needed for the job.
As a result, there have never been any surprises, and he keeps you informed throughout the process.
It’s frankly quite surprising that he usually has next day availability, and I think it is simply a matter of discoverability. A part of me does not want to reveal this secret because I’m afraid if a lot of people go to him, I won’t be able to get time with him that easily. ?
Anyhow, he’s a good mechanic, give him a try.

I had a valve cover gasket leak. AutoZone recommended this place across the street. He provided me with a fair price. Was able to schedule an appt within the same wk. He was very nice and was able to replace the valve cover gasket. I definitely would recommend this place.

This place is the worst service. They lied about the cost and charged way more, and we're super rude when called out on it. Fail.

I drove up to San Mateo from Los Angeles a few months ago. As I was approaching San Mateo, I noticed that my BMW X5 was billowing smoke, so I popped the hood and noticed that the valve cover had a pretty huge leak. I called San Mateo Automotive Service the next day on Saturday, but I think the mechanics were busy at the time, and no one was able to pick up my call, so I reached out to like 5 other mechanics around the area, and eventually made an appointment with another mechanic to have my car fixed a couple days later. Mohammad from San Mateo Automotive Service called me back soon afterwards, and he was very professional and straightforward; He told me that he had availability that day (which was amazing), and he gave me a price that was 20% less than the other mechanic that I had found; I didn't even bargain - I just said yes, and immediately brought my car in. At around 7pm, he called me and told me that my car was done (they close at 5pm on Saturdays). He stayed late because he wanted me to have my car back that day. He also noticed that there were a few bolts and screws that were missing on some of the panels on the engine bay, and he replaced those at no additional cost. My only regret was that I made him wait a bit because my Uber driver had a delay. Mohammad and San Mateo Automotive Services rocks! I'm a garage mechanic myself, and taking off the valve cover for a BMW X5 requires quite a lot of work. I would trust this guy fully to work on my car. His prices were very fair, he's trustworthy, and he's super knowledgeable on European cars. I just wish his shop was in Los Angeles ;)!Service: Engine repair

I rarely bother to leave views but figure I should this time. Calling in 2 hours before the shop closed on a Friday afternoon, and explained to the owner the car problem. The owner was very responsive and honest about the repair time might differ depending on the investigation. But he is positive enough that he can take a look and there is a slight chance he can fix it before the shop closed.So I took my car in, and guess what, he ran the diagnostic, and immediately spot the issue and fixed. No bullshit of "you should leave your car here so I can charge you $$$".I highly recommend this place and will definitely come back again.

Mohammad has performed two repairs on my car and my experience has been great both times. His expertise in European cars is perfect for my BMW, and he was able to easily diagnose and resolve its issues. He works very fast, and offers fair prices as well. I brought my 2000 Toyota 4 runner to Sharif (the shop owner) because the check engine light was on. He was able to inspect the car really quickly and offer a good price for the repair. He’s super friendly, gave me updates throughout the process, and his service was really quick as I was able to pickup my car the following day. I’ll be coming back if I ever need auto services in the future. Thanks for your help Sharif!!

I should have checked here first. I had a coupon for $29.75 + certificate, which I presented to the owner before my car was tested. He acknowledged it.From the website where I got the coupon: Get your smog test for ONLY $29.75*. Plus get one free retest if you're vehicle doesn't pass the first time. ***** & newer sedan cars. + $8.25 CA certificate fee.My car didn't pass. He charged me $39.75. He wrote at the bottom of the printout with the results that the retest would cost another $10 + $8.25 for the certificate. I will pursue my legal options.The guy is a *****. Dont do business here.
