Safeway on De anza Blvd in San Mateo, they're deli sucks, they have two rude women working in the deli , I was getting a sandwich and when I tried to tell he what I wanted on it she started to get an attitude, when she finished I said thank you, no smile, didn't even look at me or say anything back. My girlfriend was on the other side of the deli and was getting some chicken tenders(she just wanted 3) the lady she was dealing with was trying to talk her into eight , and when she said she just wanted three, the lady rolled her eyes at her. It wasn't busy, we were the only two people at the deli. We both left there pissed off. I don't normally complain about anything, but this set me off. Never been treated like that by anyone so no reason to complain. I won't go to that deli again

I'm shocked. I just left the Safeway on De Anza Blvd. in San Mateo, after I went in for a few items; amongst those, a rotisserie chicken. I've been to most of the Safeways in the peninsula and I've seen all the stores place whatever remains of the rotisserie chickens in a refrigerated area, at a certain point of the day. Not one was present here, here, which is unusual. So, I asked why, and was informed that they remove any and ALL of what's left of the chickens at some arbitrary time and simply DUMP them! This is preposterous and wasteful, not to mention bad business all around, and I'm hoping others will complain about this unacceptable behavior. There's too much hunger in the world for this to be ok. I won't be returning to this Safeway anytime soon.

Usually come here in the PM. Last night around 8:45 there was a Young Afro-American Male dressed in all Black harassing shoppers inside the store with a fundraising scam and other stuff. Staff ignored him and did nothing about it. The parking lot is very dark now too, not sure it's safe to shop here after dark anymore. Between the Roma beggars in the daytime and now this, I'm probably going to do most of my shopping at Trader Joes.

My fav neighborhood Safeway. Safe, clean, and friendly service. It's a smaller Safeway but has all the necessities. I would be sure to check the expiration dates and examine if a package has been open and bring them to the front if you do find any so that they can toss it - I do it so that other people don't accidentally purchase it. I've found many expired, open (unintentional), and even seldomly some molded meat. I've only ever had to do an exchange which was for a frozen veggies pack that was completely molded and didn't have my receipt but the manager let me exchange it with ease. Great customer service but not very great practice of FIFO.

It's on the smaller side as Safeways go and because of this, they often stop stocking products I really like to make room for less desirable products. When it gets busy, oftentimes they are slow to react and the lines back up into the aisles. When they have good sales, they often quickly run out of the sale items, but you can get a raincheck, although they expire after only a couple months. It used to be a year. Staff is generally pretty helpful and approachable. The night manager is super accomodating, even though I have some difficult requests late at night and am always asking her to check in the back for stuff that isn't on the shelf. She's always seems happy to oblige. All in all, it's an average Safeway but has room to improve when it comes to inventory, both in terms of stock availability as well as variety.

Since the product is not inspected thoroughly at this safe they will provide you with Moldy BEEF JERKY. Who is in charge to inspect the product at this Safeway?

Friendly workers. I usually head straight to the bargain shelves near the bathrooms in the back of the store. Usually find stuff I didn't know I was shopping for. Nice "Just For You" program.
