Draeger's Market in San Mateo is a culinary haven that never fails to impress. Here's what makes this place a standout: Beautiful Store Ambiance: Draeger's is not just a grocery store; it's an experience. The store exudes elegance and charm, creating a pleasant atmosphere for shoppers. The presence of a florist adds a touch of beauty to the environment, making every visit a delight. Irresistible Bakery and Cakes: The bakery at Draeger's is a sweet tooth's dream come true. The cakes are not only visually stunning but also incredibly delicious. From classic favorites to unique creations, their bakery never disappoints. Exceptional Prepared Food Department: For those days when cooking is not on the agenda, Draeger's prepared food department comes to the rescue. The variety and quality of ready-to-eat options make it easy to enjoy a gourmet meal without the hassle of cooking. Upstairs Extravaganza: The upstairs area is a treasure trove for kitchen enthusiasts. From home goods to unique kitchen tools, Draeger's offers a curated selection that elevates the shopping experience. The added bonus of special events and cooking school sessions upstairs makes it a multifaceted destination for food lovers. Celebrity Encounters and Book Signings: Draeger's goes above and beyond by hosting special events, including book signings by culinary legends like Lidia Bastianich. The opportunity to meet and learn from such influential figures adds an extra layer of excitement to the Draeger's experience. It's disheartening to hear about the potential changes to the building, but the prospect of a smaller version of the market on the first level provides some comfort. Draeger's Market has become a local culinary institution, and I hope the essence of this wonderful place continues in its new form. For now, I'll continue to savor the unique offerings that make Draeger's a true gem in San Mateo.

My family went to get pastries and coffee and was dismayed by the quality. I expected better from this chain that markets itself in the upscale market. Had an almond croissant that was rubbery and not flaky crispy like a croissant should be. The service was minimal had to ask for basics because their water container was empty, no napkins and a bit if an attitude from the attendant each time I asked for something that wasn't offered. My husband hated the coffee was semi burnt taste. Do not recommend you shop for pastries or coffee here..... instead head out the a new pastry shop that just opened up in Burlingame next to the old most famous pastry place on the Burlingame main shopping area... the name escapes me but its small and french.

Great selection of high end items, gorgeous produce, a cheese section to swoon over! Huge store--you will no doubt be leaving with more than you meant to spend. But the splurge will be worth it!

Stop by Draeger's San Mateo to buy a Christmas log. The service was nice and fast and friendly. The Christmas log looked good. When dessert time come, we cut the log, From there disappointment, started to look like cheap stuff. When we start to eat everyone looking at each other kind of saying what that. The sponge chocolate cake was very dry and not roll, the butter cream was more like a chocolate mousse. No one finished their part. I don't know who teach them how to make Christmas log. But that was a bad experience at Draeger's For the price the quality could be a lot better.

Went to Draegers to get 4 shrimp...I did not want pre cleaned shrimp. I asked the butcher to please shell and devein them for me please. He told me NO you can buy the already cleaned, I replied I don't want those I want these...he then adamantly, refused to shell and devein four shrimp. I mentioned any good butcher would gladly provide the service, he basically said F No... I thought this was a full service butcher shop...guess not. The butcher or want to be butcher was the rudest individual I've ever had the displeasure of be served by. I told he to keep the shrimp I'll go to Piazza and they will clean and devein the shrimp with no attitude.

Amazing selection of grocery items. Fresh veggies, meats, and seafood. Impressive selection of red wine, white wine, beer, and spirits. Hot foods and bakery products are also outstanding. Small parking lot on street level, but there’s a large underground parking lot as well.

Went to the San Mateo branch for the first time. The store was pretty nice, pricey but had a lot of beautiful things but was very disappointed with the coffee shop. The barister asked my friend if she can warm up the coffee in the microwave because the coffee wasn't hot enough. What kind of place needs to microwave your coffee. There were flies everywhere and the tables were dirty. I had to wipe down my own table. Garbage cans were open and close to the table which explains the flies. I have been to the Blackhawk location and it is impressive. For an upscale store I expected all the departments to be clean and immaculate. If I am paying a lot of money for items, I expect a better service and a clean environment.

My husband and I have enjoyed Draeger's for years, but we might never go back again. We bought individual cake slices for our anniversary, and in one of the bites my husband felt something hard. It was a clipped FINGER NAIL!!! My husband was so grossed out. Of course, he did not finish the cake. We returned it for a refund, but no manager was on-site and we did not get any other compensation.

Deli HEALTH warning... I have come to Draeger's every once in a while. Of course high end products and you will pay more, but that's fine, people make a choice. Good selections, and i agree that service is hit or miss. For sure, the checkout people don't seem happy, but ok. Today, I went in only to get some sliced turkey for sandwiches. When the service person went to weigh it, I thought I saw that he just placed the meat directly onto the scale (no paper or anything) but I'm short so I couldn't tell. Sure enough, he took that meat directly off the scale and put it onto paper He had in his hand. I was so disgusted that I was speechless. I could only imagine the bacteria that was sitting on the scale beforehand, and then how clean were the meat slicers? what kind of cross-contamination was there in any of the food in the hot/cold deli section? I am SO sorry that I didn't say anything to him at the time, but again, my mind was racing. Draegers, it's time to do a review with your employees on food handling safety. To everyone else, pay attention.

my tongue has been screwed with USA's coffees. ONE afternoon I walked in Draeger's & the cappuccino was ILLY's. Price was also a consideration. Why no 5 star, i ordered their best steak during the 2021 pandemic & price charged per lbs was much more.
