A few months ago, I took my 2018 VW Atlas in for an oil change, tire rotation, and recommended 40,000 mile maintenance. Their mechanic left air in my brakes and, as I was driving to work, the brake pedal went to the floor and I was unable to stop my vehicle if it was going at speeds above 30mph! When I drove back to the shop, needless to say, I was not happy. After leaving it to flush the air from the brake line, Jim (service manager) apologized profusely and summarily fired that mechanic (who also said I needed rear brakes replaced, which Jim inspected and said was not the case, saving me $600+). Jim then gave me two free oil changes as compensation. They do excellent work, are communicative, and, as is clear from the above, have INTEGRITY!

I went to Burlingame Independent in the afternoon without an appointment and Jim (the owner) stopped what he was doing and helped me figure out why my right turn signal was not working on my Audi. He also noticed that two of my four brake light bulbs were out. He figured out what the problem was and replaced the brake lights while I waited. They had me come in the following week to replace the part that had failed (the fuse block in the engine compartment) and finished the job in less than a day. Where else can you go where the mechanic will even look at your car without an appointment? I have been going to these guys for many years. These guys are the best. Incidentally, I found out about Burlingame Independent from a guy who used to work at the Audi dealership in Palo Alto.

Excellent work, great communication! This shop will find and fix almost anything wrong with your car and give you an honest and clear explanation of everything on top of that.

I've known Jim for decades and he has always strived to be the best mechanic anyone can be. Many years later I worked with him while between jobs and the experience was pleasant. To see that an option of an honest, skilled and not doing it just to nickel money out of folks was such a relief. While no one is perfect, trust that Jim will treat you and your vehicle as perfectly as possible. The stigma of mechanics being crooks should be offseted by this shop. Enjoy that this dealer option exists.

They are timely, transparent and reasonably priced. I went for a 40k scheduled maintenance for my VW tiguan, and they gave a very detailed quote. They also said they will only change the brake pads and roters if they need to, then only changed the rear ones because they saw that the front ones can wait till next maintenance (each pair costs about $700 so it's great to spread this out on two visits). They also notified me that my water pump is leaking, and that I can get it changed under the warranty (which i did, for free). I can trust them to do just what's needed and do it well.

Place does great work. Small independent shop. Very honest and quality work. Only downside is scheduling can be tough. Master tech has limited hours so can be tough to get timing right. That said, I have always trusted this shop with my Audis.

I cannot say enough good things about Burlingame Independent. Jim is as honest and helpful as they come. He'll always recommend the best option for you even if it means them making less or no money from you. I took my 2018 Audi SQ5 to them for a check engine light. It's definitely much less stressful when you have them helping you.

This guy is by far the best in the bay area. I've taken all three families Audis over the years to his shop and They are top-notch. He never tries to sell me something I don't need.

These guys are knowledgeable and have competently done many repairs to my 2005 Golf. They also provide it all for a reasonable price compared to other VW mechanics in the area.

I've taken my VW GTI to Burlingame Independent twice now. Once for a 60k major service, and most recently for an oil change. Prompt, honest, transparent, and polite. Can't recommend Jim and Jim (and co.) enough. Not taking my car anywhere else for services. Thank you guys!!

I had my 35k maintenance for my 2015 Audi Q5 at the Audi dealership, they told me I had to replace my brakes and I had 2 cracked control arms. I got quoted a ridiculous amount so I decided to call around. Jim at Burlingame independent was transparent about the whole process, they even double checked if I really had an issue. Luckily, I had warranty which covered the high cost of the control arms replacement. At the same time, I decided to let the mechanics replace my brakes as well. Everything was finished in 1 day. I will be coming here as long as I own an Audi. Definitely recommended
