“Mark helped me out in a pinch when my truck blew a bad exhaust leak at the pipe. Im not from San Mateo so i was kinda stranded…luckily he had someone who could squeeze me in and it was done that evening for a very reasonable price. He deserved the 20% tip i handed him. Good conversation too!

“So far so good! I need to return in two weeks for a follow up monitor reading after them putting in a new purge cylinoid and then go get my smog check. Otherwise, Moe and Bobby have been fantastic and treated me with respect. They have taken the time to explain and demonstrate to me how the old part was no longer working. And it's obvious in comparison with my other place I was going to that they are hungry for the business. My other place wanted to charge me an hour labor just to take a sensor reading. While they don't "lie", they are very good at the game and I could just see they were priming me to remove me of mucho dinero. My spidey senses were tingling, put it that way. Beaon Auto Shop on the other hand, though obviously busy that day and with the inclement weather complicating things gave me a free sensor reading and we took it from there. And I did not need them to, I would have paid a reasonable fee for the sensor reading, no problem. (The check engine light came on and I have to also get a smog check, what coincidental timing.) It's just that I know how easy it is so my other place seemed outrageous. And Beacon Auto Shop's labor rate is still comparatively reasonable. I am pretty much ready to bolt and take my business permanently over to Beacon Auto Shop. I am happy with how it all worked out and I do recommend them! Plus, bonus, the 25th Ave shopping district and the El Camino Real there nearby has a lot of businesses to shop at and comfortable places to eat in. Thanks, gentlemen, see you again!”

“This is the best shop in the area! I have had the misfortune of needing body work done on several cars over the last year and so I am well versed on how far above and beyond the competition D&D is. The front staff, Alex, is so thorough and competent with his estimates, no surprises and he handles everything with your insurance company. Each car has been completed on time and with interior vacuume detailing and a wash. The shop even did a few extras for my elderly mom like pick up and drop off as well as buffed the headlights on her old car making it look newer as well as safer. A shop with integrity. “It doesn't get much better than John and ABS! I've been taking my older Bimmers to ABS for over 14 years and they have always kept my cars running tip top at reasonable prices. They are super fair, friendly and give you the facts straight with no BS. We are fortunate to have a shop like ABS that knows these cars so intimately. John worked at "the stealer" for many years before opening his shop. He has always been able to diagnose any issues quickly and accurately. Honesty, consistency and quality is what you get when you take your car to ABS. These cars are expensive to maintain but having an indie shop like ABS with people who care is a Godsend for guys like me who love their older BMW's and want to keep them running as long as possible. I've taken my car to others in the area but always come back to ABS.”
“I've known the shop owner, Glenn, for decades and am familiar with his work. He's old-school in the best possible way. He does first rate work on most anything, and is especially good at older British and other European models. A lot of younger mechanics just don't have the knowledge to tackle some of the older cars. “A few months ago, I took my 2018 VW Atlas in for an oil change, tire rotation, and recommended 40,000 mile maintenance. Their mechanic left air in my brakes and, as I was driving to work, the brake pedal went to the floor and I was unable to stop my vehicle if it was going at speeds above 30mph! When I drove back to the shop, needless to say, I was not happy. After leaving it to flush the air from the brake line, Jim (service manager) apologized profusely and summarily fired that mechanic (who also said I needed rear brakes replaced, which Jim inspected and said was not the case, saving me $600+). Jim then gave me two free oil changes as compensation. They do excellent work, are communicative, and, as is clear from the above, have INTEGRITY!”

As a person who is fairly mechanically inclined, and who can do his own car jobs if needed, what I like about working with him is that he’s very transparent about everything.
You can watch him do the job, if you choose to, but even if you don’t, he will be very clear about what the issues are, what parts need to be changed and is very reasonable about the labor needed for the job.
As a result, there have never been any surprises, and he keeps you informed throughout the process.
It’s frankly quite surprising that he usually has next day availability, and I think it is simply a matter of discoverability. A part of me does not want to reveal this secret because I’m afraid if a lot of people go to him, I won’t be able to get time with him that easily. ?
Anyhow, he’s a good mechanic, give him a try.”
