I remember coming to these gardens as a little girl when I lived in Los Angeles. I moved to Hawaii 30 years ago but have since come a few times to the gardens. This last visit I was surprised to see an entrance fee $25/pp. I don't remember ever paying to visit the gardens. However, I suppose these are different times. We spent at least three hours walking the gardens and didn't see everything but we were so tired from walking. The Japanese and Chinese gardens are absolutely spectacular and that is where we spent most of our time. The library was interesting but not what I had expected. we ended after three hours and sat in the restaurant near the entrance. We ate a "snack" before our dinner which was a deliciously prepared pizza. We came on spring break for Hawaii and the parking lot was pretty crowded. But the grounds are so humongous we did not feel like there were many others around us as much. I totally recommend this place for anyone visiting.

You know the story of places like this: Rich Guy who bought a place long before you or I could grab this real estate when it was nothing but barren land because he wanted to enjoy his wealth in seclusion, because he built his wealth during the Guilded Age, then because he amassed so much wealth but either couldn't or wouldn't maintain it, they or their descendents donate it to us poor ploebens to enjoy. But boy are we all better off for their later generosity! This place is HUMONGOUS!!! The different collections of fauna and flora they imported is awesome! Not to mention the art gallery and other collections of artifacts. This place is a treasure the community is glad to have and enjoy.

Today was very busy at the Huntington Library and gardens. Parking was non-existent, so we had to park on the street. It was easy to see why it was so busy since the weather was perfect. My son loves to experience nature here better than exploring the Library and art. Food here is pricey, so keep that in mind if going to the Cafe.

Just go. What an amazing experience. Would definitely go during the week if possible, and avoid school vacations. We purchased tickets for early entry at 10:00 am, and got there a little late and the parking lot was already quite full. But having a pass makes entry a breeze. It was our first time and we loved what we experienced: The Chinese Garden, The Japanese Garden and the American Art Collection, which was exceptional and not crowded. We did not see everything so a pro tip is to pick your priorities and come back. Note that we walked four miles and didn’t cover the entire estate. The gift shop was delightful as well. Lots of food options and bathrooms and benches to take a rest. We can’t wait to return!

President: Karen R. Lawrence.Chief Financial Officer: Janet Alberti.I waas coming to These gardens for over 20 years, but the neglect I was witnessing for the past few years is appalling!Japanese Gardens need to be remained into Bog gardens, those poor koi fish are swimming in green slush that is as thick as soup! SHAME ON YOU FOR ABUSING THE POOR FISH!Chinese gardens are even worse - the water is brackish black and green and the poor koi fish is slushing in it struggling for breath!I was embarrassed to bring my parents there and have them see what has become of this place. The people in charge are not doing their jobs obviously!Chinese and Japanese gardens are the main attraction and I heard several people comment on what a disappointment the ponds were and the neglect of the poor fish!Dear President: Karen R. Lawrence. Chief Financial Officer: Janet Alberti - you are responsible for this! Please do your job and fix your filtration systems and stop abusing the fish. It is your job.

This place is amazing! We fell in ❤️!A true haven for all walks of life! Entry fare is decent and you get to visit all the attractions inside. I brought two kids with me, ages 10 and 16, and they both enjoyed everything. Our favorites were the well-kept gardens. We got to be away with gadgets and just simply explore the 207 acres of land. I’m sorry, but two hours isn’t enough. I suggest 4 to 5 hours! I calculated with food ordering and waiting!Food isn’t allowed, but don’t worry, they have restaurants inside. For 3 people, we spent around $100 for lunch food, boba, and coffee, and dessert. It could be less without the drinks and desserts… lol! Water is allowed inside and nothing else!On the other side, we ordered our lunch from Jade Garden and I had Mopo Tufu for $17, it’s a big serving, but I don’t think I will order it again. For this, I suggest the owner or management to reevaluate this recipe! I didn’t eat it all!!! I was frustrated as I thought it could be really good!Milk tea is good from the Japanese Garden area! Don’t expect for them to have a Japanese Tea area where you can have Japanese cuisine, they don’t have it! I thought there was!Don’t forget, tickets are always SOLD OUT, so make sure to reserve online.Over all, my son who didn’t like going, rated it 10/10 after visiting it!Highly recommended!

Beautiful place, with several dedicated themed gardens with characteristic vegetation and flowers, spacious and free parking area, good assortment of food to try (there is a restaurant with a beautiful view of the Chinese garden pond), bookshop and exhibition with some exhibits interesting (like the Gutenberg Bible).. In short, a must to visit when passing through Pasadena!

Beautiful gardens and museum but some miscommunications and disappointing approach to outside food. The miscommunications are for areas such as the museum, when you enter it's like going through a training program of where your bag can be, where your water bottle is, if it's open, and after going through it, you are then corrected on it in a different way by someone else inside. I have no tips to really avoid this other than limiting what you have on you.The biggest disappointment was how outside food is handled. For someone like myself with a food allergy it has made it difficult going out places to eat for a number of reasons I won't drone on about here. So naturally the safest thing for me to do is bring my own. I thought, well of course we can't eat out and around the gardens but there is ample tables and chairs outside of the main pavilion to eat at. I of course was wrong and told that no food could be brought in and the tables to eat at are on the outside of the entrance, down a long walkway. So we walked back to the car to put our food in and walked around the gardens where we saw people eating at benches and walking while eating, people stopping in the walkway slurping their iced coffee. Then at lunch we walked back to the parking lot, ate in the car where we enjoyed the landscape of cars fighting for supremacy over parking spaces, and then returned back to the gardens. For this reason, it was really disappointing, exhausting, and disheartening, taking away from the enjoyment of the visit. If you are a frequent visitor I could see this not being a problem as after a few hours you would just be leaving. For myself, I was a full day visitor, visiting once every few years (was hoping to go more frequently a year but not after this.)Parking was not a problem, just a large lot to walk across, even the "close" rows.Remember sunscreen, hats, umbrella, water (which they let you bring,) comfortable shoes, and some patience for others as it can become crowded. All around a beautiful garden and landscape, and for the frequent visitor probably a great place to enjoy nature's beauty. For anyone bringing their own food, the extra steps through the parking lot are okay, but it's at least 2+ minutes of extra walking from entrance so just be prepared.Entrance can be a little confusing, purchased tickets ahead of time, it felt like there was no line management the first time for us to ask a question. Second time coming back in was even more confusing. ( Membership side looked fine though.)I hope at some point the food restriction is adjusted within reason. (No picnics, no alcohol, eating in designated areas only)Safe travels,

This place is incredible. Careful with timing, we were there on a Monday afternoon in March and it was pretty busy. Make a reservation if you want to be sure you'll get in. Cost is $25 for adults, parking is free. We walked the whole park in a couple hours, you can really tailor it to whatever length you want it to be. Don't skip the art museums inside either, they were worth a chunk of the time there. You really can't pick a favorite at this place, check it all out!

Beautiful gardens, library and museums. We spent hours walking around and enjoyed every different section. The Chinese Garden and the desert garden were the stand outs! The plants are beautiful and healthy. We recommend buying tickets in advance. The morning before, the first two time slots were sold out. We went on a Saturday at noon and the parking lot was quite full. It took us a few minutes to park and then another few minutes to get in.

Visiting the Huntington Library and Gardens in Los Angeles was an exquisite experience. The remarkable collection of art and rare books dazzled with its diversity and beauty. The tranquil atmosphere of the gardens and ponds provided an ideal setting for relaxation and contemplation. It's fantastic that the regular admission ticket costs $29, and it's advisable to book in advance to avoid queues.Additionally, the staff members exhibited a high level of professionalism and friendliness, ready to assist with any inquiries. Their loyalty and hospitality made my visit even more enjoyable and memorable
