Dr. Joanne Asunción is patient and thorough as always. She speaks with my sons to find out about them. She carefully reviews their medical history and asks for updates. She gives tips on how to improve their eating habits and other behavior issues, not just medical issues. Overall, an awesome visit with the staff and our awesomeDoctor Joanne!

We took our baby for a consultation with Dr. Asuncion for the first time. She sounded confident, but during the physical examination, she left our child with psychological trauma and unnecessary injuries. Our baby resisted, while Dr. Asuncion wanted to quickly complete the examination. She forcefully pressed down on the baby's face, exerting so much pressure that her nail deeply punctured the baby's skin, disregarding the baby's painful cries. Faced with such rough handling, I couldn't help but push her hand away. Afterwards, we noticed our baby’s face bore the marks of her fingernails, displaying visible bruising, swelling, and a clear outline of her nail.

Beware of being misdiagnosed.Since my daughter had good experiences at San Marino Pediatrics, we took our son there since he was an infant. However, the nurse technicians there are untrained and did not care about what they were supposed to do.From our annual wellness checks, the nurse tech would do the regular checks of weight, height, temp and vision. Every time we went, they would enter 20/20 vision for my son. Every visit, Dr. Lai would rely on what the nurse puts on his chart and therefore, went on with the wellness checks. Then right after our last wellness check up, we noticed something wrong with my son's vision ourselves, so we went to an optometrist for a second opinion on that 20/20 diagnosis.It ended up that his vision was not 20/20, and he needed glasses! All this time going to San Marino Pediatrics, each nurse tech was unable to detect that he couldn't see clearly. Thinking back in the regular vision checks in the pediatric office, the nurse tech just did her task and that's it. Because the doctors use what the nurse techs write in patients' charts to begin their check ups, Dr. Lai and the other doctors should oversee these routine checkups or make sure the nurse techs are properly trained and not misdiagnose.Dr. Lai, herself, is a good pediatrician who takes time to talk to patients and families, and even returns calls. However, because of the improperly trained and carelessness of the nurse techs, we are very upset and disappointed. We don't even know how long he was unable to see clearly!We are not medical professionals and have no medical background, and therefore, we trusted their diagnosis every time we visited, but that trust decieved and mislead us.Save your time and find a pediatrician that has properly trained nurse technicians.

Be careful what you sign with this place!! I don’t recall signing any form to authorize my credit card for anything but apparently I did. They charged my credit card for a visit because I was late on the payment. They also charge for a no show. They WILL CHARGE your card because you “signed” the authorization form. DO NOT sign this form nor leave your CC info with them! The nurses are always rude when we go in to. I’m happy to say that we no longer use them for pediatric services. I would NOT recommend this place.

We have been coming here for over 12 years. All of the doctors are very warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. My kids love their doctor and we are so very happy at this amazing practice. The nurses and the office staff are always helpful and sweet. Love love love it here!

We recently switched to Dr. Sandy Lai, but this place only takes HMO under both new hire nurses . We got rejected to be new patients even-though we're able to switch to her car. Waiting on the phone for at least 5-6 minutes on and off

Dr Sandy Lai is the best pediatrician we've come across.My husband and I are both in medical field so we've interacted with them all. It's very hard to find a good, thorough pediatrician who exudes excellent bedside manner especially to children. She encompassed all those things, was very friendly, respectful, and took her time. A lot of docs are in and out, so it was refreshing to find a dr that took their time & explained everything step by step. She picked up things that our prior Dr missed,and was so detailed in her assessment.On top of her stellar care,parking was convenient,&staff had you in&out no waiting at all.Beyond impressed and happy to have found them!Only complaint is that I wish we would have found her sooner!!

Dr. Sandy Lai is one of the best Pediatricians out there! She goes above and beyond... I was surprised she returned my call on a Sunday morning and did a secured video call to check on my daughter. If only I could, I would give her more than 5 stars.

She is so great with our little girl and makes medical decisions with our best interest at heart. I recently transferred my daughter out of this practice due to the bad experiences I had with the front desk lady, Yvette. Our doctor (Dr. Lai) was amazing, so this review is mainly for the front desk nurse (Yvette). Every single time we called in to this office we were spoken to in a very condescending manner as if we were idiots. She called us to try and charge us for something we had paid for in person. This lady argued with us instead of helping and spoke in a way that was demeaning. We hung up the phone feeling confused and disrespected every single time. The last straw was on our previous visit on June 8th, when Yvette would not allow me as the husband, to come in with my wife and child to see the doctor. I have always accompanied my wife and child into the exam room so why was this time different? The doctor even came out to ask me why I am waiting outside and not in the exam room then proceeded to escort me in. All these bad experiences caused by Yvette, left my wife and I no choice but to transfer out daughter out for fear that one day she would take out her frustration with us on our daughter.
