“Great selection of books, graphic novels, stickers and all kinds of other items. Super friendly staff and beautiful store. Independent bookstore offering much more for those interested in BIPOC artists. So glad to have stopped in while visiting from Dallas.”
“One of the best independent bookstores in California. They have a huge selection of books and other gifts. I enjoy the wine bar in the store too! This is a must visit for any book lover”
“This is a fascinating store. Housed in a beautiful old building, it is packed with thousands of books, records and merchandise. There are some really rare and special books in separate rooms (one of which was formerly a safe or strong room). You can sell your books and vinyl to the store too. It's really very special and very different to any store I've visited before and is well worth a visit.”

210 E Main St, Alhambra“Nucleus is an art gallery that caters to more modern artists in the genre of pop culture, anime, and local flavor artists.
A nice, clean esthetic that provides a wonderful space to display the art. There are two stories. Enough room to display many different artists, which switch out on a regular basis.
There are also meet and greets as well as signings. Depending on the artists, the crowds show up to meet people they admire.
Great place to peruse and buy art.”
“A perfect neighborhood used bookstore. Helpful owners who led me straight to the sections -and book I came in hoping they would have a copy, which they did- I hopped on down. Even found a favorite kid's book which is rare. Thank youuuuuu. Will be back!”

“I initially found a rare book on AbeBooks, and Book Alley was the seller. I decided to call and ask for photos of the book before I spent a few hundred on one book. The gentleman took my email, and I received an email back within the hour with photos attached. I bought it online, and I received the book only a few days later perfectly wrapped. Very satisfied with my purchase.”

The staff is super knowledgeable & helpful. I came in once unsure of the exact stone I needed but was able to tell the gentleman helping me what energy I wanted & he helped me decide on a great Obisdian stone. I've also got my very first tarot deck from here.”

“I love this store! They have such an incredible selection of Japanese books and gifts. I really appreciated that when my membership expired, I was able to quickly renew while I was buying some products. Everyone who works there is very sweet and helpful. I also love that there is always some type of sale or special going on, especially for those who have a membership!”
“The two employees were so friendly, and best of all, Pippi melted my heart. Will come back again from Vegas. Really liked the book selection as well. Pretty cards as well. (I am typing as my wife and daughter are shooting complements.) We will definitely visit sometime soon.”
“Great little gem loaded with all kinds of gifts, books, and other Christian products. Both in English and Spanish. I searched all over for a particular "Footprints " poem, and they had it there. Caring and friendly staff. Highly recommend you go there.”
“Best art/design book store. I bought from their online store for the first time and it was a great experience. The way the books arrived packaged so safely and carefully was amazing. I have never received books packaged so well. I hope they improve the website to be more mobile friendly, and better search/display options. Actual photos of the used books would good too.”
“Trading with a trusted account manager is what can make your dreams come through. For me Taisha Carson has the best trading strategies to win. I never believed on any post recommending online trading until I gave a try and the outcome was great for me. Making $10,500 out of $1000 was a whole lot of profit for me.”
“off topic but a huge THANK YOU to the lady who worked Friday 12/8 around 3-4pm, I got my car to turn on!! :) you are an angel! I pass by this little bookstore often on my trips to Howlin' and finally went in to ask for a little favor as I was having car problems... As I was waiting she was assisting this lovely couple and as I overheard, I can tell she had TONS of knowledge about cook books and had so many recommendations regarding specifics of the customers likes/interest. I browsed around and there was a variety of books, some cooking utensils and other misc. items like cute tote bags. I will definitely come back and purchase my first cookbook here <3”
“This is the place to go for all things homeschooling! They have an insane amount of books, curriculum, games puzzles and more! They also offer classes and fieldtrips. My daughter attends the science class taught by Mr. Marty and she loves it! I even learn a thing or two when I tune into the class. Both Carolyn and Marty can answer any questions you have regarding homeschooling and curriculum, they even know which charter schools are better than others. Highly highly recommend this place to all parents”

121 Union St, Pasadena“The only challenge is the abundance of choices here. If you or know someone who collects rare books, this is a great resource to find something unique. Something different. Something classy. One of a kind.”
“Just a delightful, charming, slightly eccentric (in the best way) little local bookstore. A much more intimate and gentle shopping experiencing than schlepping to Vroman's and fighting for parking. The staff is always so friendly, they do excellent (and free!) gift wrapping, and they are happy to order anything that they don't have in stock. I try to support them whenever I can.”
“This is a great bookstore to go for all your Religious need, I highly recommend it evertime somebody needs books, candles, Religious goods. This is the perfect spot to go too!”
“Small in size but beautifully curated bookstore, that actually have a sizable inventory. They cover all the basics but with a very strong fiction section and hard-to-find titles. The buyer for the store is excellent.”
“Beautiful little shop located in basement..Both of my boys were doing their confirmation within weeks apart.I was able to get them each a lovely gift to have blessed on their big day.the lady who helped us was very sweet and helpful.I think I'll be doing all my gift shopping there from now on!”
“Visited here last week to check it out after the ownership change a year ago. They carry English manga now too as well as Mandarin. You can stay and read at the store for a fee or rent or buy just like the previous owner. The place is still nice and clean.”
“Beautiful store! Everything you could ask for, books, icons, incense and gifts for every occasion. Lovely customer service and I can't wait to stop by again soon!”
“24/600 reviews challenge for 2023. The LA art scene These Days art gallery 5 Stars***** I found this little gem by accident and wanna share it with everyone, its on Winston and main st 1 1/2 blocks from spring street art walk an on the second floor. You have to walk up a flight of stairs but this is cali, so I know you're all in great shape ja! Once I wlaked up there I met the owner I think, Stephan who was this cool cat and fun to talk too. They dont get much foot traffic since its on the other side of spring street, however its worth seeking out. I I love the LA art scene and more importantly the LA art walk. One gets it all from a variety of artisans from weekend warriors to life long professionals displaying and selling their work. From prints, paintings, sketches, stickers, necklaces, shirts, hats, and etc to just name a few.. Having this diverse amount of artist is cool because theres somthing fof everyone to enjoy, buy, and explore. Now im an adventurer so I love going on a hunt for hidden galleries. Theres a map one can acquire that shows a lot of the galleries within walking distance. You can get one at the hive gallery on spring street.”

“First, I'd like to preface this by saying I have never left an online review for anything. I'm just not that kind of person but the extraordinary service I received has been so far beyond the norm, I felt compelled to comment.
It started when I received a book I hadn't ordered. I felt sure a mistake had been made by a second-hand bookseller from whom I had ordered a different title. Fearing my book had been sent to the true buyer of this book, I contacted the Huntington Store (after hours, I'm quite certain) to inquire how we should resolve this error. I awoke the next morning to find an email from Lynsey Hand with the answer to the mystery. The book had been a surprise gift from my brother in Japan. (Yes, he is that great of a brother!)
I wrote to thank him and to recommend he take every opportunity to patronize this bookseller because I was so impressed with the packaging of my book against damage in transit. He recommended I write a review.
Over the years I have had numerous books, many collectibles, damaged due to inadequate packaging.
This book arrived wrapped in bubblewrap, cardboard, and packing paper in a sturdy cardboard box.
I have learned since 1.) it was packed by a lady named Emily (Outstanding job, Emily) and 2.) The Huntington store is not a second-hand bookseller but is, in fact, a beautiful museum with incredible botanical gardens.(My brother forwarded a Huntington newsletter.)
I can do without another visit to Los Angeles, but the next opportunity I have to visit Southern California, I plan on making the Huntington my destination spot and look forward to spending a liesurely day at this beautiful museum and its grounds and, perhaps, shake the hands of these two women who made such an impression as to prompt an old curmudgeon to write an online review.
Thank you, ladies!”
