don't go if you're having mental health issues. I went for a mental health crisis and was turned away.

This office is completely furnished but does nothing. No veterans use it. They said they only help with mental health issues. This is not a vet center. Its a waste of funding and the two employees sitting behind a desk doing nothing in an empty office, turning away veterans seeking help have the easiest paycheck in the world. These programs don't want to help others. They only collect a paycheck for themselves.

Went down to talk to someone. The said they'd schedule me an appointment. Got a call saying my appointment would be a phone call at 10am on Friday. Guess what. No call! Waited around all morning and nothing!

If I could give no stars I would. After finally getting enough courage to reach out and get help my counselor left for a new job without telling me. I shared things with this couselor that I didnt share with anybody else. Then after about a month I go into a scheduled appointment and was told I don't have an appointment and my counselor got a new job and will be leaving next week. Then I was told by staff that they would call me to place me with someone else and my counselor would call me personally. It's been over a month and I have heard nothing.San Marcos veterans center is a perfect example of why so many vets do not seek help and why there is such a negative view of places like this. I can only think of all the veterans in dire need who this happens to and then they take their own life because they feel like even the people who say they care and understand the most really don't.I would never recommend San Marcos Veterans Center to any veterans I know.

Immediately felt like home. Was seen in a timely manner, privacy is of utmost importance, lots of groups and activities to attend. I'm glad that so many veterans work here as well. Apparently, it's a very close knit community. So thankful this place exists.

I really love the staff here. You must either be prior combat or have had a sexual trauma while you were in to qualify for treatment here.

Don't come here on a Friday afternoon. It's a ghost town. Next time all call ahead for hours.

This center has been an amazing resource for me to keep a healthy mind after military service. I am very thankful to have a place like this in my community.
